Bah, I was hoping for a games contest. Some Common Stat Topic Lingo Defined*~ SFF (Same Fanbase Factor) - Same Fanbase Factor is the theory that, if two contestants share a common fanbase, the weaker of the two options will underperform in a direct matchup. For instance, Link was expected to defeat Ganon with 65% of the vote in 2004, based on their 2003 values. Instead, Link collected near 88% of the vote, because the Zelda fanbase so clearly sided with him. However, take some SFF labels with a grain of salt, as many people will slap it onto any match that doesn't make total sense. This has caused a few SFF jokes, with LordOfDabu's "Some Frivolous Factor" being the funniest of them. X-Stats - Short form of Extrapolated Statistics, aka the mathematical "strength" of a contestant that can be determined based on their performance in any given matchup. See above for a detailed explanation of the x-stat process. rSFF (Reverse Same Fanbase Factor): An unproven theory that states that an SFF match will feature the expected weaker character receiving more benefit from SFF than the stronger character. For example, all evidence supports Samus being indirectly stronger than Mario, yet Mario blew Samus away during their 2005 match. That's rSFF in action, and the one case we have of the weaker statistical character winning with it. For other information, surf the contest sites a bit. From last topic: That's what I'm saying. Give it a few years. Keep it fresh. You see why people are craving a Games Contest and not a Character Battle. Because it hasn't been done every year. I don't understand why everyone's assuming the 4 way format. SB didn't
hint at that, and the only info we're going on is that there are 15
nominations to be cast. Well, we had 14 to use in 2006, and that was

| Clarification: Not because of the field or the
bracket, but because it'll be too predictable and likely won't feature
anything huge like Starcraft or L-Block-level runs. I don't think it'll

| I don't buy it being a 4 way, either. SB seems
very inclined to do things his way, and not care about the expectation.
I doubt it's going to be a 4 way, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if

Well I guess the other thing pointing against a traditional setup is
that he didn't say not to nom Link/Cloud/etc. Still, that's not alot to
go on. About Arthas... after his match last year where he outdid Diablo and was in contention despite the fanbase split everyone was crazy about him, and agreed we "had to get him back next year." | Despite the long time since a traditional, one on
one, no gimmicks battle, I want another 4 way. Those are more fun to
predict, watch, and, IMO, just more fun. However, I'd like it if there
were no L-Block level nominations. However, seeing as we're starting
this in September at the earliest, and that early next year is when the
next game battle is going to take place, it's probably going to be a

you know, now that i think about it, i dont think we'll have a 4-way
again... especially if he isn't telling us NOT to nominate L-Block or

You think we'll see a FF4 character sneak in considering SBAllen's love
for the game? He put a ton of work on FAQs and such for FF4DS and even
said it was his favorite game in one of his SBallin' posts. I hope if
he does, he sneaks in Rydia over Cecil, as Rydia has the potential to
be stronger and is untested as opposed to Cecil. Granted, any FF4 character isn't going to do much damage even with FF4DS, but I definitely wouldn't mind Cecil or Rydia making appearances. --- i got nuthin |

| I think if Bacon DOES do a 4-way again he's doing
it for the wrong reasons. Last year was considered a great contest, by
the casuals at least, but I think that was due to two reasons: A. L-Block B. We got to see a lot of new and returning characters who we had never seen in action before. I don't think anything about 4 ways makes them intrinsically more exciting and neither of the above two situations are likely to repeat themselves. And I think we should be worrying about Tag Teams instead. That would be a far far worse gimmick. --- You need to meet someone at a garden, or a movie or something. Somewhere classy.
