Well, I think you should've put Metroid Prime and Super Metroid
together like you did for Mario 64 and SMW to see what people think.

Honestly, the only way the Games Contest would be disappointing is if
Bacon gives us the EXACT same bracket again. Or if he decides to

I think with a completely open ended nom system more recent games would
take control of the bracket, yes. In fact, let's take a look here...
with a fully open system, if noms opened tomorrow, these are the only
repeats I'd expect to see make the cut 8-bit Mario 3 Tetris 16-bit (lol censor bypass) Chrono Trigger FF6 Super Metroid Super Mario World Link to the Past Earthbound Mario RPG Street Fighter II I have a hard time seeing Zelda 1 make it through the surge of people nomming Ocarina, LttP, TP, MM, and a few WWs here and there for good measure. Metroid 1 will surely be out in favor of Prime and Super, FF1 seems doubtful in the face of 7/6/X/8/T, and I doubt something like Duck Hunt could make it back without a successful rally. --- Hot Content: thengamer.com/xstats | board8.wikia.com He isn't a killer. I think Mario 1's got a solid chance. 16 bit looks about right. What
I'd like to see is a soft quota (say, 24 games/era) but straight
seeding, so we still end up with 8/16/32 bit fodder. If you're going to
watch FFVII stomp something, it might as well be Galaga, and something
like LoZ or FF would be a killer 12-14 seed against an overseeded new

I still say there should be one bracket contest per year, alternating
between games and characters with no gimmicks. It would never get old,
and if CNET would ever pull their heads out of their asses on the
legality issue and allow a couple of users to help run it, it would

Ngamer's list is probably about right, although like someone said SMB1
has a decent shot at getting in and I think that Mega Man 2 is probably
a shoo in as well. I wouldn't be surprised to see Pac-Man or Pong slip in as a lower seed and I would actually find a Pac-Man Vs. Keep in mind my list was only the repeats
from '04. I'd agree that Mario 1 and MM2 and possibly Sonic 3/Knux will
have good shots of getting in as well, but remember that all of those

Okay, here it is. Yes, I agree with Ulti about Contests needing some
time off aka to be rotated to keep things fresh. So with that in mind,
here's the schedule of upcoming Contests that I drew up a while back.
As soon as you elect me Contest Administrator, I'll get right to work
on setting this plan into motion. The Ng Proposal Spring/Summer 2008: The Great Game Contest (64 games, 1v1s, etc) Summer/Fall 2008: catch our breath (a little time off would do the Character Contest good, IMO) Fall/Winter 2008: a silly mini-Contest (just to break up the offseason a little; maybe use the old Quote Contest nominations to slap together a bracket) January 2009: Game of the Year Contest (a 16 game bracket to decide the GotY) Spring 2009: Greatest Console Ever Contest (16 system mini tournament; next year seems like the best time for it, as the 360, Wii, and PS3 will all be in the prime of their lives) Summer 2009: Character Battle VII (full 64 character no gimmick 1v1 tournament- should still be plenty exciting since it will have been nearly two years since we saw characters in action) January 2010: Game of the Year Contest (this 16 game tourney would be run to decide the GotY every year) Summer 2010: 128 Game Contest (oh my!) --- Hot Content: thengamer.com/xstats | board8.wikia.com He isn't a killer.
