why not misty? Because Misty is a trophy. I was looking at old stats topics, and I noticed this one former bracket that Slowflake made: http://membres.lycos.fr/shindohikaru/stats1.htm (Scroll down to the second post) Can I just say that I love the bottom part of the South Division? Magus gets exposed as a fraud by almost losing to Yoshi, but then who does he face in the sprite round, but Solid ****? How hilarious would it have been if a "weakened" Magus beat Snake by more than he beat Yoshi? --- You need to meet someone at a garden, or a movie or something. Somewhere classy. Meta-Knight -hmmm,how about Magus? i don't really find that interesting. Magus just wins a ho-hum match. i honestly can't picture Meta-Knight stronger than Donkey Kong or even near his level. all he practically has is Brawl. I'll agree with voltch that -- after Magus unimpressively beat PW and
lost hard to Big Boss last year, not to mention his bitter loss to
Knuckles years ago -- MK would be considered a sexy upset pick for some
of the board... ...considered by some. Ultimately, Magus would win it in an unimpressive fashion. As for the MK/DK comparison...this time last year, I would have agreed this would have been above MK's peak. However, last year MK showed he could clearly outdo Peach, Wario, or Captain Falcon BEFORE SSBB. There was a different format so that makes a huge difference, but I don't think many people would have taken Peach or especially Wario over MK after his performances. Considering that, MK was pretty close to DK pre-SSBB if not on-par. Now with SSBB out and MK being both very easy and very likable as well as small things like his stage being one of the coolest and his "character" in the SSE being one of the most fun to watch, I think it's hard to contest with MK being able to hang with DK if not beat him. Perhaps SFF would change things, but right now I would think MK is at least indirectly stronger. Tifa - Ganondorf or Zelda sounds sweet. Niko - Kefka could be fitting, and controversy would ensue both before and after the match. Meta-Knight - DK works, but I'll reach for the stars here; Master Chief would cause a massive board split. Kirby - Magus, Sora, Ryu, Kratos...all of them work, but I'll say I'd like to see Kirby fight Ryu the most just to upset Leonhart. =P CATS - Forget giving him a match he could win, let him face Solid Snake for the sake of fan-fiction. --- Lobby Hero http://img251.imageshack.us/img251/3079/lobbyheroauditionflyerssv6.jpg |

Tifa - Ganondorf would be a good bet - I almost want to see her face Vincent or Squall but couldn't see her beating either. Niko - Donkey Kong, mostly to see how he stacks up against Vercetti. Meta-Knight - I sorta want to see him face Diddy Kong, but that just seems like a waste of at least one interesting newcomer... let's go with Axel instead. Kirby - Vyse in round 1, Phoenix Wright in round 2, and then... actually, Ryu works fine. <_< CATS - Phoenix Wright. Screw interesting matches. --- I know you love me... I wanna wad you up into my life... We may be Janus5000. But We may not be. We are not sure. |

i guess it wouldn't be impossible to have MK be indirectly stronger
than Donkey Kong, but beating Peach in a multi-poll isn't really much
to brag about if you really think about it. is she worth much even in

| Beating Peach in a format where Vincent beat post-TP Zelda by 10% isn't that impressive. Princesses and villains not named Sephiroth really sucked it up due to the format, I think. Unless we think Vincent is actually close to being on-par with Samus for some insane reason. |

| I can't see Meta Knight beating Magus. I actually
think MK would be a little stronger, strictly speaking. But, Magus
would just pull a Frog, I'm sure. I think I'd take MK over Frog, though
it'd be close. SC2K7 showed something very interesting... check out

(okay, Samus probably suffered a bit from Midna's presence). But, Samus showed to be very close to Mario in strength, showing to be just as strong in '07 as in '04 as evidenced by Samus' showing against Cloud (and other things). And, Mario didn't do much better against Sephiroth than Samus did against Cloud, suggesting Mario and Samus are near-equals. It's quite interesting how close Frog and Magus might be. It's just a maybe, but I think it's a pretty good chance. In the past it was agreed Magus was a good deal above Frog. Yeah, you could blame MK's victories over Peach being based off low-tiered Nintendo characters doing poorly in the format, but I still consider over 18% in that Round 1 match as some pretty good proof of legit strength, considering Sephiroth + Peach + CATS for the opponents, as well as being leeched by Peach... it's obvious he'd get well over 20% against Sephiroth alone. Heck, just take CATS' 11.22% out of the match ,distribute between Peach, MK, and Sephiroth as appropriate, and MK's already up to 21%. (ran out of time...) --- "Ah, a party! We haven't had one of those. It could be fun! So...what is a party?" "Well, you drink punch and eat CAKE! ...I think." |

ever happened before, anyway? one character drops faster than the other

You know, after all this talk, I wouldn't be surprised in the least if
Magus went out and killed all our brackets by showing near-2k3
strength, thus making us wonder what the hell happened last year.

I remember Tnote arguing Frog > Magus a long time ago, but there's
never been a point where I thought Frog really had an edge on Magus. It

The Wii and especially the 360 should go up some later in the day,
though I'm not 100% sure they'll reach their previous marks (59.82% and
50.22%, respectively). The PS3 is looking good no matter what...in
comparison with itself, at least...but I don't know if it'll go up
through-out the day or not. It's currently smoking its old mark of
26.29%, whatever the case. One thing to look out for though is how many 360-owners there are. Those the PS3 is making big gains, the PS3 and 360 are still largely in more direct competition with each other...and 360 is still owning it. It could be hard for the PS3 to make many more gains from here when the 360 ownership is as high as it is, even with MGS4. --- Well then who's on first? Yes. I mean the guy's name. Who. throw-away matches (purposefully due to not being able to think of more

I swear to God that I am not just doing this to post another bracket (I
was thinking about this at work today, and it's not a prediction
bracket anyway) but I think I've figured out how the 2007 contest was
seeded. Sorry if someone posted this last year, but I think I've
figured out that each initial match represents a four pack, albeit not
always in the same order. For example in the first division, the

I just thought that Arthas was more likely to me a 16 seed than Kerrigan was.
