One hour into it...if Nintendo doesn't build its lead some over the
night, I think the 360 will have the advantage in the day-time. Shouldn't stop SMG from winning GotY though! --- I have a beerpong table designed like a NES controller in my apartment. House rules: hit Start for a piss-break, hit Select for a re-rack. |

I like this alot. Both Wii and 360 had great years (though 360 did have

To compare to last year: http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=2631 Most of it is pretty close - DS and PC went down and up a small amount, respectively, PS2 and PS3 essentially swapped, PSP was nearly constant, but look at the 360 and Wii: Xbox 360 22.55% 23729 Wii 39.62% 41683 The 360 appears to have made its largest gains at the expense of the Wii - there's a few extra percentage that probably comes from the PS2/PS3. I guess we'll find out about trends soon. the 360 did the best in the
first hour, keeping it within about 10 votes at one point. once that
ended, the Wii slowly crept away. I didn't see what happened in the
morning, but that's always been Nintendo's best time while the
afternoon has been Xbox time. still expecting the Wii to take this,

In the past hour or so, the 360 has trimmed away ~100 votes...and the
after-school vote hasn't truly started yet. Granted, there's a little
over nine hours left in the poll and the after-school vote doesn't last
the entire time. That said, if the 360 is making small gains right
before it starts and if it's anything like anything-Halo or Fenix or
Hayabusa or the Xbox with the ASV...at the least, expect the 360 to
keep this plenty interesting. I expect it to take the lead...perhaps

I have a feeling it'll just fall shy of overcoming the Wii later on. I
hope I'm wrong, but the 360 probably doesn't quite have enough to

yeah, this isn't moving. still 900 votes. watch out mario master chief is comin I know you're probably just kidding here, but I don't think this is the case at all - it's more the other exclusives the 360's been getting + the multiplatform games that miss the Wii that's getting people to vote there, not just Halo. Oh, yeah, I'd agree. Halo is a chunk of that, but it's definitely the fact that the 360 had it plus all of the other big games released this year. Part of the reason people are warming up to it around here is probably due to the fact that it has evolved from being the 'Halo Box.' With that, though, I would think that the hate for Halo would simmer down a bit because what it represents wouldn't be as hated. 360 has some other good games like: Splinter Cell Conviction Fable 2 Fallout 3 Alan Wake Burnout Paradise Lost Odyssey Battlefield Bad Company Condemned 2:Bloodshot Left 4 Dead Ninja Gaiden 2 Legendary The Box Alone in the Dark Army of Two Mercenaries 2 Rainbow Six Vegas 2 Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway Enemy Territory Quake Wars Huxley Project Origin Too Human Unreal Tournament 3 Soul Calibur 4 I probably missed some but those are the ones I am looking forward to the most. --- Go Ducks Go! |

most of those are pretty small though. the 360 had a plethora of games
while the Wii had two or three big ones this year, and that was enough
to win console of the year. I want Lost Odyssey more than anyone, but
let's be honest here - it's not going to tip the scales in the 360's

It sucks for the 360, too, since next year I don't think it'll be in competition with the Wii like it is this year. Given how hyped this place is for Brawl, it could probably carry the system a lot like Galaxy did, maybe even moreso, but the Wii's got a pretty awful looking lineup as of now. On the other hand, the 360's got some really good stuff coming in '08. You've got Halo Wars, Devil May Cry 4, Grand Theft Auto 4, Lost Odyssey, Ninja Gaiden 2, Soul Calibur 4, Resident Evil 5 (maybe), and Gears of War 2 (maybe) to name a few big ones that GameFAQs should have some interest in. --- "Wake me when you need me." -- 117 |

This one has Halo in it so it will be succesful regardless of whether
it sucks or not. Also all the gun lovers who get tricked into buying

I don't have any doubt it'll be popular -- the Halo namesake ensures it -- and it should be one of the biggest sellers in 08. It should end up being a pretty good game, too. Part of that is there's a good developer behind it (Ensemble Studios -- Age of Empires) with help from Bungie, and part of it is that it's behind entirely with the 360 in mind. 360 has cut the Wii's lead down to under 600 (it was at least 900 at
the highest... dunno how high, though). It the 360 gets a good night

The Last Remnant is also due sometime this year if I'm not mistaken. If
Square hypes it up as its next big IP and it actually delivers, it
might finally
get the 360 to tap into the Squarehead RPG/ jRPG fanbase on this site.
If that happens, then I say the 360 probably takes console of the year
in spite of Brawl. I'm interested to see how good the marketing will be
for Lost Oddessey and Last Remnant and how big they will be among
gamers. Those developers need to take a page out of the Assassin's
Creed marketing team's strategy and hype the hell out of the games to

| Lost Odyssey will be marketed the same way as Blue
Dragon -- that is, it won't be. Heroic Mario and I agree, there's only

that much about it, and let's be honest -- the only reason we're
curious on it is because of the name "Square" behind it. I'm waiting to
see where they go with this, because that whole Japanese Idealist vs.

I'm really hoping Microsoft markets Lost
Odyssey. They failed on that mark with Blue Dragon, but that wasn't
something that had a lot of appeal with the 360 userbase in the U.S. to
begin with. It's a different case with LO -- but it depends on how much
MS gives the game in the next month. Last Remnant... who knows. Not a whole lot of info on it right now. If it does take off and Square hypes it up a bit, it could grab some of that fanbase for the 360 like you mentioned. --- "Wake me when you need me." -- 117 |

Halo should have an absolutely killer day vote in this format though. eight games? oh yeah, it'll do well. but... I don't think it tops COD4. I was right to be impressed, it looks like. been getting some rave reviews and got a ****ton of praise all over.
