I've got a ton of respect for everything CJay did for us, and I agreed
when people didn't appreciate SB's hands-off attitude to questionable
results in the past contest, but polls like today prove that hey,
here's a guy who gets it. Do you think you'll get a new game system for Christmas? Jeff gets hired back 17.64% 285 CNET begs for user mercy 12.13% 196 GameSpot begins it's steady decent 25.19% 407 The Eidos Empire crumbles 5.82% 94 No Comment 25.5% 412 No Comment 13.74% 222 TOTAL VOTES 1616 +5 points for having the pulse of the boards, +2 for not taking PotD too seriously and tossing out fun wacky polls like this every once in a while, but -1 for "it's" (that mistake always really bothers me). --- Hot Content A'hoy: thengamer.com/xstats | board8.wikia.com PARENTAL ADVISORY - This signature contains Explicit Content. |

Jeff's in third...sad. And, though it's actually a good thing, GameSpot

Hey, maybe we can actually glean some useful info from this. The last
two options are identical, yet the one on top has (had) nearly the
double the percentage. Maybe it's not crazy to wonder whether or not
the top entrant/character enjoys a very tiny advantage in any given
match. --- yoblazer33: NO LIMITZ Watch and you'll see... Explicit Content pwn me... in the Guru Contest! |

People have always joked about a Left Pong Paddle Vs. Right Pong Paddle
match, but I've always suspected that in that case the Left Paddle
would win by AT LEAST 60% if not way more, due to people just picking
the top option. --- Congratulations to Explicit Content, the 2007 Guru Winner!! |

Left Pong Paddle has a huge advantage. I think, in any old school 2D

the screen, and guess who just happens to be there. --- yoblazer33: NO LIMITZ Watch and you'll see... Explicit Content pwn me... in the Guru Contest! |

That's why you measure from others. Thanks to the matches being 4-way
there are many ways to measure the stats, without even adjusting. SC2K6 is actually a much bigger mess with trying to measure x-stats. --- "Ah, a party! We haven't had one of those. So...what is a party?" "Well, you drink punch and eat CAKE! ...I think." |

I think I'd take Tidus over Alucard. Alucard seemed like he was worse
than ever last contest...why? Dante got 26.59% compared to MC's 32.02%,
while Alucard only managed 19.22% compared to MC's 43.78%. Based on
this assumption... Dante basically doubles Alucard (or a little worse
than that using Morgoth's formula). And, Tidus did only a point worse
than Vivi, and I don't think Dante doubles Vivi...well... Dante - 30.43% Leon - 23.85% Leon - 40.13% Vivi - 30.87% So, Vivi gets an expected.... 38% (or a little less using the 4-way formula). Maybe Dante was a real beast (his strongest yet) in the last contest, after all. Of course, this is ignoring anomalies and such, heh, not to mention 4-way causes some characters to perform differently. Vincent VS Crono...Vincent, I guess. However, I must note that people are still playing CT for their first time by the day! In fact, I have a little cousin that's just borrowed CT from me...CT is indeed being passed on through the generations. =P Ryu Hayabusa VS Riku...Riku. Nothing decisively points to Hayabusa winning except that R1 match... but Riku outright beat him the next round, and past contests suggest Riku wins by more...even pre-KH2 Riku's expected to beat Hayabusa before this year. Kirby VS Kratos.... Kratos. Kratos flattened Kirby, and DK couldn't have hurt Kirby too much, as DK did horrible in that R2 match. It's true that Kratos didn't do too much better than Riku the following round... I think it was a result of Kratos being hurt by some SFF/LFF, but you never know. I can't wait to see Kratos in a 1-on-1 match. --- "Ah, a party! We haven't had one of those. So...what is a party?" "Well, you drink punch and eat CAKE! ...I think." |

Ah cool, another poll showing that SB "gets it." (though apparently the
last funny poll was a server glitch or something, cough cough) What do you think about polls with silly or nonsensical options? I hate them, they make the whole poll meaningless 5.95% 750 I don't like them, it skews the results too much 9.69% 1222 They're okay, I don't mind them at all 14.12% 1781 They're great, polls are supposed to be fun 11.61% 1465 Do a barrel roll! 58.64% 7397 TOTAL VOTES 12615 Barrel roll would have been a monster in the Quotes Contest confirmed! Well AYB would have been a heavy hitter for sure, but I think it could
have gotten into trouble against a quote that, through SF64, has surely
been seen first-hand by a greater portion of the site, and which
spawned a fad that I think was more GameFAQs-centric than AYB ever
managed. Anyways while we're on the subject of poll results, here's one that just finished up at LL which pretty much confirms what we'd all been expecting. Which is the greatest Pokemon generation? Red/Blue/Yellow 49.16% 1263 Gold/Silver/Crystal 23.24% 597 Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald 2.57% 66 Diamond/Pearl 9.54% 245 Stadium/Colosseum/Battle Revolution 0.35% 9 Mystery Dungeon 0.31% 8 XD 8.17% 210 I've never played pokeymans 6.66% 171 TOTAL VOTES 2569 Obviously the "never played" option is tiny compared to what we'd see across the whole site, since LUEsers are big into anything older Nintendo oriented. And that RBY number is clearly at least a little inflated, since for most of the site Pokemon is nostalgic rather than something they're playing at the moment, and of course on GameFAQs you'd have a number of younger viewers voting strictly DP just because it's the only generation they've played. BUT, all things considered, it's very apparent which generation should be rallied behind next Games Contest. --- Hot Content A'hoy: thengamer.com/xstats | board8.wikia.com PARENTAL ADVISORY - This signature contains Explicit Content. |
