Eh, got to disagree Haste, I really think Characters need a year off. Here's the schedule I'd run. SC2K8: 64-Game Contest. (but actually starts at the beginning of Summer, so practically Spring compared to what we've been seeing) SFall2K8: Best Console Ever mini contest (32 at most, or even just 16 would be fine) Sp2K9: Something new and small SC2K9: Traditional 64-Character Contest --- PARENTAL ADVISORY - This signature contains Explicit Content. ...because he just owned me in the Guru! |

Here's what I came up with. I kept the cap to four games per series
(although I didn't count Tactics as part of the traditional Final
Fantasy series). tranny is right in that this is a tough puzzle to put
together, but I tried to include some head scratchers and upset
specials as best I could. I gave the two infamous Blizzard games, WoW
and Starcraft, winnable (but far from easy) first round matches and a
potential meeting in Round 3. I also gave Phoenix Wright a plausibly

TP's in an unfortunate situation here - it can't realistically lose until it reaches OOT, where a nasty beatdown of an interesting game happens. maybe you could switch it with something else weaker in the bracket? maybe the aforementioned God of War? --- immerse your soul in love |

I'd almost favour putting having this division go against the winner of CT/LttP/Melee, rather than FFVII, though Brawl/Melee would suck pretty bad and OoT/FFVII would be a round too early. Time Travel! (1)Chrono Trigger vs. (16)Pac-Man (8)Super Mario Galaxy vs. (9)Final Fantasy VIII (5)Halo 3 vs. (12)Pokemon Red/Blue (4)Metroid Prime vs. (13)Super Mario Kart (6)Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney vs. (11)Bioshock (3)The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past vs. (14)Mortal Kombat 2 (7)Tales of Symphonia vs. (10)Earthbound (2)Super Smash Bros. I'd swap TP/HL with the Kingdom Hearts, which is...interesting, to say the least. TP/RE4/SC/Tetris/Halo/WoW is a hell of an 8 pack. I doubt we will see any of the following games in the bracket: Sonic Adventure 2: Battle - not popular enough GTA - too many noms for San Andreas Chrono Cross - not popular enough Mega Man 2 - the usual MM nom split Silent Hill 2 - not popular enough, too much crowding in the genre Mega Man X - MM nom split Resident Evil 2 - too many noms for RE and RE4 And not seeing KOTOR makes me a sad panda :( --- Official Queen ***** of the Universe! After Serge's flop, I can't see CC being particularly worthwhile...and
why would it get in, anyway? I'd really be in favor of throwing out

| Personally, I'd be all for tossing some of those games that will neither make it nor challenge anything in favor of one more Zelda, FF, and Mario game. I didn't go that route because I got a general sentiment that people didn't want the bracket overstocked with those three series. |

I would pick MMX over MM2 because MM2 gets kinda drowned among six NES
titles, while MMX is only one of three SNES games of the series...
also, MMX is an original. Plus, I have more faith in an SNES title than

The only thing I won't like about the games contest is that it's going
to be a complete cluster**** for me when it comes to predicting. I
still want to see it more than any other contest, but it'll definitely
draw away from it for me. I like being able to look at past matches and
argue stats, and look at something that might have gone weird and
adjust it accordingly to my beliefs. Since I came here for the first
time about halfway through games, and once I did, didn't really even
pay attention to the contest, I have no feeling for anything at all. I
mean yeah, I can go and look at what happened and everything, but it's
not the same as if I had been there. Granted the stats won't have that
much bearing to anyone,
since the terrible set-up of the bracket, and all the new blood that's
bound to get in, but it isn't a complaint so much of my chances of
creating a successful bracket, as much as it is being able to see how
my analyzing of the matches hold up. --- mmm feel the vibration baby |

It really is disturbing how much Mario/Zelda/FF dominate the games,
indeed. I'd almost want to see a bracket without any Squintendo at
all... and then have a separate bracket with only Squintendo, or
perhaps divisions with only one series. Well, Serge was hit with SFF and in a format that probably wouldn't

Kennedy. Master Chief vs. Dante. Weighted Companion Cube vs. Alyx Vance. ? Block vs. Princess Peach. Assuming no Knuckles in Brawl, Knuckles vs. Rikku: Knuckles, I'd guess Yoshi hurt him more than Vaan hurt Rikku. Assuming Mega Man in Brawl, Sonic vs. Mega Man: Megaman, I can see Brawl helping him more due to not being as iconic as Sonic. Kratos (GoW) vs. Leon S. Kennedy: Leon Master Chief vs. Dante: Dante Weighted Companion Cube vs. Alyx Vance: Weighted Companion Cube ? Block vs. Princess Peach: Difficult, but I have to go with ? Block, the force that took down the Invincible L-Block! Ike vs. Alucard: Alucard...oh wait, is Ike in SSBB? If so, then Ike. Squall vs. Crono: Crono --- My bracket was utterly destroyed by Explicit Content, the Guru Champ. |
