either Samus hurt Link more than Sephiroth hurt Cloud or L-Block is hurting Cloud. this is just pathetic for a guy who looked to be at least Link's equal through a few rounds.

I don't follow voting trends, so I can't offer any objective take on this statement. All I can offer is my own reason for voting, which is this: As a major Cloud fan, I don't mind Cloud failing to take the ultimate championship, as long as Link doesn't get the championship either. When I woke up everyone was talking about a possible Link comeback. So I voted L-Block.

Oddly enough, the only minigame I ever got addicted to was Sphere Break in FFX-2. I don't know why. I just couldn't stop playing it.

Blitzball was pretty simple with Jecht Shot, at least. I don't think I lost a match, except maybe the first one against Luca. The other minigames (chocobo, lightning, butterflies) are the worst things ever, though.

I loved Sphere Break. I can play Chocobo Hot and Cold endlessly.

Blitzball, though.. no. when you hit Luca, I try to make sure it doesn't end in a tie so I don't have to play anymore.

That's where I got really lucky. I found an area near the top of the north section (pretty close to the Macalania entrance) where lightning strikes every 5-7 seconds. It let me build up a good rhythm. I still can't imagine how people could ever beat that minigame if they stick to areas where lightning strikes every 20-30 seconds. Seems impossible.

1. No Encounters
2. Find northern area where lightning strikes every 5-7 seconds
3. Mute television (false sound cues are such a *****)
4. Have some bored person count for you

Makes it infinitely easier.

Eh, I liked Blitzball enough to get Wakka's item effortlessly, but once the rewards were gone I never played it again, heh. The rest of the minigames in that game can die, though.

Nice to see Link has it in him to make good cuts on this thing... 6500 vote comeback with the day vote? Damn straight, Link's packin GAME FUEL today.

I really wanted to like blitzball, but my first time through a game I like to go straight through the plot without doing too many side things to distract me, so I didn't spend enough time with blitzball to figure out what the heck was going on. When I replay FFX (which I will do, sometime soon) I plan to try a little harder to get decent at it.

I don't know what a weighted companion cube is, but I think people are losing touch with reality if they think we can capture lightning in a bottle again. This was special. Just enjoy it without flooding the next contests with blocks and cubes.

Did anyone notice how this match is extremely similar to the Battyle Royale last year? If you assume L-Block ends at 34%. the expected ending percent for the other 3 based on the Battle Royale is

Link: 29.46%
Cloud: 23.56%
Snake: 12.99%

The only difference is Snake is sucking it up a bit more than he should

Yeah--this is interesting. I actually had pretty much exactly this idea in my "analysis" of this match before I "added" all the other "factors"...unfortunately my "analysis" was mostly a joke, heh. I had the block at 36 there though, to reflect its tendency to increase each round.

Here are some factoids I collected about the contest. Feel free to correct me if I missed any/made any errors.

Only Double Comeback: Marcus Fenix against Kefka and Ocelot (4th to 2nd)
Only Double Drop: Mudkip against Ganondorf and Luigi (1st to 3rd)

Most Rounds Advancing Together: L-Block/Snake (3)
Only other Couples advancing Multiple Rounds: Mario/Big Boss, Master Chief/Yuna, Dante/Amaterasu, Sonic/Sub-Zero (1st/2nd), Link/Vincent (2nd/3rd)

Only people to Beat Someone who Previously Beat Them: L-Block (Three Rounds in a Row), Alucard, Riku, Gordon Freeman, Ryu (SF), Luigi, Pikachu, Dante (One Round)

Only people to go from 1st to 4th between rounds: Liquid Snake, Duke Nukem and Pikachu

Since nobody ended the contest with a perfect record:
Longest Streak of Wins: Link (5)
Second Longest: Cloud/Master Chief (4)

Farthest Round Reached Without Winning a Match: L-Block (4th Round)

Shame we never got to see any triple comebacks or triple drops.

Ugh! FFX mini games...

Choccobo Races, Lighting Dodging and Butterfly catching....God I hated them. If only they hadn't been needed for the stupid crests. Choccobo races was the only one I was successful at.

Blitzball was kinda fun, but God I hated the stupid Al Bhed team. I hate how in the story they we could beat them easily, but in the league they kicked my ass royally.

L-Block's strength comes from mass rallying, and not so much people on gamefaqs riding a bandwagon.

When you look at it's matches with solid snake.
First match (Kratos/L-block/snake/riku) snake had 46201, block had 40774 and votals were 142403.

Second match (Snake/block/sonic/squall) snake had 44489, block had 44753 and votals were 154165.

Third match (Master Chief/Dante/L-Block/Solid Snake) snake had 43081, block had 56925!, votals were 164401.

Snake is almost the same, only drops a little due to stronger opponents. If you minus L- block's increase in votes, votals would be about the same. Only L block increases as time passes.

(Cloud Strife/Samus Aran/Link/Sephiroth) and (Sephiroth/Mario/Link/Vincent Valentine) only had 144,000 votes. Sure since characters there have similiar fanbases so votals might have suffered a bit but considering the strength of these characters it;s reasonable to assume that > 90% of gamefaqs voted there.

Today's match is probably going to go over 180,000 I believe the rallies are giving L-block between 20,000 to 40,000 of it's votes.

This also means, that no matter what Link does at this point, he can't win as the instant he goes up, more people rally.

But on the bright side, at least it's bringing more visitors to the site, even if most of them are only temporary.

While I'm wililng to accept that L-Block rallying results in 10 - 20,000 more votes total, I don't believe that they all go to L-Block. I'd bet at best that 60-ish% of them are going to him.

Oh, and question.

If this were Link / Tanner / L-Block / Snake, how would the percentages change?

Man, I just had a thought. How crazy would the FFP of this contest have been? Four-way matches aside, creatively writing L-Block into advancing every round and potentially winning the whole thing would have been hilarious.

Some rounds someone thought it was a weapon and used it to bludgeon their opponents to death. Other rounds it just sat unassumingly in the corner until two of the others had been eliminated. Finally the other contestants realized that it, too, had been invited to fight...and it was winning. So they banded together to stop it, but it was too late.

Silliest FFP ever. :P

I thought picking anything but L-Block here was crazy. after what he did to Snake last round, it seemed obvious to me that he was going to walk over Link and Cloud too. Link isn't invincible, he can be beaten. he's not held up as some kind of demigod to anyone but the people who follow these things.
