Obviously people vote for the block.. but this is 5000 votes ahead of a match that'd normally be outscoring it easily just because of the pure vote drawing power of Cloud, Link, and Sephiroth. This utterly decimates any rally attempts ever.

But no, no, clearly it's just because I'm an L-Block hater that I suspect anything. There is no reason to doubt this is entirely legit, none whatsoever. I won't say I don't wish death on the damned thing... but I'm seriously just looking at facts here.

Not only are you an L-Block hater, but you're a communist as well.

Seriously there are NO cheating accusations that get taken seriously anymore. Hell, look at Frog/Axel. There was BLATANT AS **** cheating in that match, and barely anyone cared. And those that did, gave up on it after about an hour.

that's petty - no reason to do that when you haven't said anything to warrant it.

I might even go along with the idea of L getting some stuffed votes, but 5000? it took all day for 2000 back when. the trends look legitimate. there's nothing wonky going on here.

this is pure power, baby.

and man, Chief really dropped the ball in the past hour. Snake's nearly at 3,000 already. Looking like a Link/Cloud/Snake/L-Block finale.

I'm really struggling with my vote here. >.> I think I'm going to wait and see just who it is that is battling with Link for the crown. I want Cloud to win and all, but if L-Block is the one with the upset possibility, then he'll get my freaking vote.

I'm not saying it's stuffed 5000 votes, either. I am saying it has likely stuffed enough votes to destroy any comeback potential where there'd normally be.

And I fail to see how a 3500 vote lead in one hour looks legitimate. Yeah, frontloaded, sure, but what the hell is that.

And I was mostly meaning for Snake, honestly, though a 5000 vote Master Chief comeback wouldn't be out of the question...!!

If Master Chief had a Kingdom Hearts cameo, then a 5,000 vote comeback would be do-able.

Right now, even the Chief can't do that.

Oh god, I just thought of something fun. Say MC were to get a huge part in a Kingdom Hearts game.

Now say he was to face off against Kefka.

Just try to imagine what the 14:30-20:00 updates would be like in that match.

Master Chief would probably be able to win those updates by like 300 votes a piece.

That would be spectacular. I demand Master Chief to make an appearance in Kingdom Hearts now.

My prediction from yesterday:

Tomorrow will go L-Block>Snake.

The PS2 fanboys will be split 75-25 between Snake and Dante, in favor of Snake. Nintendo fanboys will go about 20% Snake and 80% L-Block. Master Chief will get the Microsoft vote. So Master Chief will beat Dante. But it won't matter, because they'll both lose to Snake, who will lose to L-Block.

L-Block 37%
Snake 35%
Master Chief 17%
Dante 11%

Currently:

Master Chief ............19.8%
Dante........................ 14.7%
L-Block..................... 38.25%
Solid Snake .............27.25%

And you guys thought L-Block wouldn't get 37%. Snake's under-achieving and Dante is over-achieving. I thought more of the Sony fanboys would go Snake. Meh.

Personally, I don't know why vote stuffing is simply ignored in L-Block's matches... everyone is more than willing to admit that Bacon doesn't seem to give a damn/doesn't know enough to prevent vote stuffing from happening, what with him refusing to say anything even in epic comeback's, massive late explosions, and the closest margin of victory we've ever had. Yet with Mudkip and Bidoof, there were people more than willing to throw out cheating accusations, and if this explosion by L was happening at the end of matches as opposed to the beginning, people would be flipping the **** out. I'm not saying that makes it 100% conclusive that vote stuffing is going on, but all that coupled with L having the tendency to be involved in the higher scoring matches lends itself to doubt.

It's funny how it's ignored simply because it's L.

45% updates will turn this match around quick. Believe.

That's the most idiotic prediction I've ever heard. L- Block won't get 30% on Link. The only reason he has 38% now is because of Nintendo fanboys. All of them will go with L-Block next round. I call Link>Snake>Cloud>L-Block. And that's only 'cause I out Snake as second in my bracket. I don't like Cloud. Or FFVII.

Eh, I don't think MC quite has it in him to pull this one out, though he will definitely be making it closer. Either way I'm satisfied, all I ever said was that L/MC/Snake could finish in any order, including Snake not placing, and while it's probably not going to happen, I don't think it lacks credibility.

So after looking around, I've seen a bunch of people on various boards saying either "I voted for L-Block, but I'm voting for Link tomorrow" or "I prefer Cloud but I'm going to vote for L-Block".

While obviously not reliable enough to draw any conclusions from, it looks creative's theory of FF7 fans being less "fun" and therefore stopping the upset might not work out. D:
Mumei | Posted 11/3/2007 7:26:11 AM | message detail
To be honest, I've absolutely hated this since Round 2, so I'm definitely not going to be voting for it. And I prefer the FF series by far to the Zelda series. But I like Link way more than Cloud. <_<;

So, I'm "less fun" and more of a FF fan... except I like Link more. <_<

Even if there was vote-stuffing involved, wouldn't it have to be stuffing of a nature heretofore untold of to create this much of a monster? And MC and Snake just don't have as devoted cheaters behind them?

I think once word got out about L-Block having a chance, it became a draw.

To modify someone else's idea, it's like Stephen Colbert running for the Presidency. He would get support in the primaries as a joke account, but he wouldn't blow anyone away. If he started actually barely winning a few or at least being semi-competitive, young people would all of a sudden turn out in droves to vote for him, and heaven help us if he could actually make it to the finals.

The difference is that Colbert winning the Presidency would be a sign that we're extremely dissatisfied with the current political landscape on all sides and think the entire process is a joke, so we're going to make it one. I'm not sure L-Block winning CB07 means the same thing, but then again it might.

I'm not saying that there wasn't any cheating for L-Block in the opening of the match, but it has also won virtually every single update since then. If there is cheating going on that's allowing L-Block to win it is occurring on a scale unprecedented to anything we've ever seen before.

We already saw how 4ch tried to stuff Mudkip before in his rnd. 2 match. You noticed that died out through the night and come morning the updates looked completely different. Cause they ran out of resources to do so.

Now we're watching L-Block STILL pulling in these ridiculous update %s right now. So either there is a global conspiracy to vote stuff for him, or this is just a crazy beast we have now.

Well, this is looking about a million times more "normal" than that ridiculous first half hour. It's hard to picture Link not outdoing this percentage, but L-Block has been holding up tremendously regardless of the competition, and he'll be at his strongest tomorrow. Should be a fight. Also, I don't think Cloud will make up the first hour hurt L-Block will put on him.
