Yeah, by the way things look I guess gamefaqs just doesn't want the contest anymore. There is no grand conspiracy to vote L-block to ruin the contest. Even vets in this topic are voting for it. --- sig |

ep, at this point I'm expecting probably another Games Contest at that's it. People are appearently really sick of 'em. It'd make me sad if this was to be the last character contest. Yeah. A couple of the other boards are comparing L to Sanjaya. And yet American Idol is still popular. Same thing here. Contest matches get higher vote totals compared to a normal GFaqs poll (or compared to polls on a lot of other sites for that matter). Hey as long as people get their laughs, it's ok right? I mean I never
found L-Block winning funny, but hey. Maybe we should get him into
every contest and just vote for him over everybody. People are talking
about how they're tired of seeing Link/Cloud/etc winning, but look at
how badly L-Block is beating everyone? Now instead of what could've

I don't know. I love L-Block too, and have voted for him in every match
so far, but if actually somehow wins the contest, I think the joke will

My god... it barely dropped in percentage. Link wouldn't be doing this... We knew like two matches ago though that L-Block would lead Link well into the board vote. But yeah, L-Block is just showing omnipotence right now. I think L-Block really *IS* like Bill Belichick, with the "**** you" mentality - "Call ME a joke?! doing this with only 'cultist' votes from Board 8 and 4chan. There are

Really, I'm only 20th and it would've been nice to finish on the leader
board. So my real problem with L-block is how it affects scoring. But
there are people around here that were battling for first, if it
doesn't bother them I'm not gonna rant about it all day. Really if a
L-block bracket soared to the top that's the only way I see this
contest having a legitimate ending. --- Should I start running now? |

Well unlike some of the joke characters people rallied for in the past,
L is a joke character with nostalgia, sales, historical factor etc on
its side. I think that plus anti-voting other characters is enough for

Geez! Calm down tranny. Its not the end of the character battle. However, perhaps a 1 year hiatus is in order. Yep, at this point I'm expecting probably another Games Contest at that's it. People are appearently really sick of 'em. I don't know that one could infer that from these results. If people were sick of them, you'd figure they would simply ignore them and not vote -- which would be far more telling that people don't want to see them anymore. L-Block doing as well as it is seems to me more like a "joke" that just has picked up steam each time it performs. People "abandoning" their favorites in favor of the L-Block would sooner tell me people want new results over wanting no more contests. Besides that, we all know L-Block doesn't come close to doing this in a normal contest. It's a product of a lot of things; the Block isn't actually legitimately as strong as it's showing. If you held another contest next year against Snake, he's going out in round 1. It's just something that's become "fun" to follow late in the contests, when they usually have the same characters each year. Can someone please explain the Belichick thing. I haven't followed the NFL for a few seasons. Belichick got caught cheating against Eric Mangini's Jets during CameraGate (stealing of play calling signs). The Patriots lost their 1st round pick and Belichick got fined like $500K, and the Patriots became butts of endless cheating jokes. If anything, Bacon is prolly happy with L Blocks success. L Block gets
so many hits to the site, and thats the only reason for the contests,

Yeah, by the way things look I guess gamefaqs just doesn't want the contest anymore. I don't really buy into this idea. The true purpose of the contests is to bring in new visitors. And over the years the contests have done this, especially the first couple of years. Recently, it's been more to maintain levels. But with all the rallying for L block on this site and LL and 4chan and whatever other sites, this will definitely increase traffic. And if no one cared about the contest, they wouldn't vote. There certainly are outside forces at work trying to make this contest lose credibility, but how much credibility does a character contest really have. It's for fun. And next year, in one on one matches, their votes will hardly matter. The L block is a novelty. You won't see this again, but it's fun while it lasts. The contests aren't dead. P.S.
