*cheers on L-Block*

Bracket: 326/512; Oracle: 64th
The n00b Avenger | Posted 11/1/2007 5:29:07 PM | message detail
Yeah. L-Block has been rising despite falling since the ASV. Squall who was holding relatively steady at 20.5% started dropping. Snake started dropping faster, and Sonic, who has been gaining since the ASV, stopped gaining. It's pretty obvious that was a rally boost

Yeah it does seem to have been a rally boost of some sort looking at the 15 minute graph, L-Block had a big spike at the expense of everyone else (which implies some sort of static-nature voting, and rallying/stuffing/early board vote are the only static voting)

Block drops to 134 all of a sudden. Now that smacks of rallying. (Still not outright stuffing, though.)

...Snake drops by 30.

(I'll stop doing this now, promise)
The n00b Avenger | Posted 11/1/2007 5:36:06 PM | message detail
Meh, that could just be legit. It wasn't that significant compared to before. That was a result of Snake dropping. Unless L-Block gains another significant gain on the next one Rallying is still over

Does anyone have the stats on the closet matchup wire to wire where the lead never changed hands? Might be different considering its a 4-way, but L's lead maxed I think at 1800, and has been around the 300-500 range most of the day, so I'm curious about the actual stats.
Kyle Bowen | Posted 11/1/2007 5:55:03 PM | message detail
Here comes the latest "moral victory" speech for Squall.

I enjoyed his performance this year. He did a lot of things. One was beating a FF7 character, I dont care how fodderific she was. He also did well against Sonic twice. 1 v 1 has a lot of potential. While Sonic will probably be super tough next year, with Dissidia and future KH games, Squall is not going down. And judging from his strength, he could challenge MM, Crono, and even Vincent. Format aside this was a great opportunity to "beat a NNer". I guess only two have ever done it (assuming not Lblock stuffgate conspiracy).

Good show Squall but you left much to be desired.

there's no reason to think squall could beat sonic 1v1, seeing how craptacular Sonic characters have looked in this format, and sonic still beating Squall today. unless you want to say there is a snake/squall overlap (which I still think is true), or that squall is hurt by the format just as much as sonic if not more.

either way i'm not buying it.

unless you want to say there is a snake/squall overlap (which I still think is true),

god please let us NEVER heard about this horsecrap again ;)

Though if people will go on about despite it every match ever that could've proven it conclusively never even so much as hinting at it in the slightest possible way, I guess it's the ultimate uber-Zombie Jason Voorhees myth o_O

This match is 8,000 votes ahead of Sephiroth/Mario/Link/Vincent.

That was an SFF match. Also there's no way anything approaching 8K votes could be stuffed anyway.

It's 4K ahead of the Cloud/Samus match, which means more. But, this is also a later round. Vote totals are inconclusive here.

Given L's lead though, it's quite possible he wouldn't be outright winning if not for some individuals - whether those individuals led rallying efforts, or whether they stuffed. But he wouldn't be all that far from Snake anyway.

Remember the times when Snake looked like a cosmic god in the early rounds of this contest? Ah the good old days :) (well for Snake fans anyway)

Solid Snake has been doing so well in contests and with Brawl and MGS4, it looked possible he could overtake Mario and Samus. But all his potential is shattering if he doesn't kick it into gear Alucard/Frog style, right now.

And speaking of this anti-Christ like Squall/Snake LFF myth :) and vote totals, if there was LFF there, it would probably lower vote totals.

But most likely this match has high vote totals largely for the very reason that the fanbase-coverage here is extremely wide, almost as wide as it could possibly be. This is a very diverse group of characters, who normally wouldn't hurt each other much at all, except here they probably are heavily due to L-Block's un-LFFability (though of course he'd be invulnerable to it, it is LFF after all)
