Even if he gets it up to 1,000 I don't think it'll be enough. I hope to sweet glorious hell that I'm wrong, and if it's close in the last hour, I expect L to win, but oh man, I need to go smoke and calm down.

I'm not taking anyone outside of the Noble Nine's top six (Link-Snake) over Sonic next year. I know there has been debate as to whether the Brawl boost has already arrived, but that theory sounds really sketchy to me. There's no way a hype video and confirmation can mean the beginning and end of a boost, not when Sonic is going to be one of the two "omg no way" playable characters in next year's most popular game.

As for this year, yeah, I still take Sonic over Vinnie or Squall 1v1.
PortugalTheMann | Posted 11/1/2007 8:53:43 AM | message detail
Agreed. I would have given MM a shot at Sonic this year, and I know I'm definitely in the minority there, but after Brawl comes out, there's no way I'd contemplate MM.

Why? MM will get helped more by Brawl than Sonic.

PortugalTheMann | Posted 11/1/2007 8:56:07 AM | message detail
If it happened, I'd agree with you, and there is no character I'd rather see in it than MM, but until it happens, I'll assume he's not in.

Oh man Snake has to count on the after school vote.....we have no chance to survive. And it's just tantalizingly close enough to give both sides hope. But yeah Sonic is screwed I'm not even convinced he has a better after school vote than Squall.

And at the halfway point of the match, L-God still holds onto a chunk of his lead.

Can he cling onto it until the ASV?

And Squall, can he make a push for third?

Find out in the thrilling conclusion of: Blocks of our Lives.

YoAriel33 | Posted 11/1/2007 9:06:50 AM | message detail
I guess that update was L-Block finding out the dying Z-Block left his inheritance to Solid Snake?

I don't know if you can snap a tetris block's neck, but those last two updates made me a warm and fuzzy feeling.

Lunch just ended, which is why Snake is recovering. L-Block to win the ASV is now confirmed. :(
YoAriel33 | Posted 11/1/2007 9:13:09 AM | message detail
You are wrong. The kids nerdy enough to access GameFAQs and vote during their designated lunch times would have likely voted at the poll's onset. I am treating this new "lunch time" theory with the utmost seriousness.

I'm 25 minutes late, but L-Block has now lead for over half the match. Against two Noble Niners and a potential Noble Nine breaker. Nothing more to say.

Squall catching up to Sonic.

Sadly, Squall doesn't stand a chance with the ASV right around the corner.

But I would LOVE to see squall make a mini-push until then and actually be leading for an update or so.

But indeed, the battle for 3rd is just as great as L block on top for TWELVE HOURS.

Snake coming in 1st was expected, the fact that L-block is going into the last 8 of a character battle is an achievement in itself.

6,500 votes down is usually insurmountable in a 1-on-1. In a four way it's almost impossible. >_>

So, what would be the bigger story in this bracket: If L manages to hold out and keep first, or if Squall manages to take over Sonic, and Sonic finishes 4th?
Lightning Strikes | Posted 11/1/2007 9:42:16 AM | message detail
Sonic's going to cut like crazy, but 6500... It just won't happen. L-Block could be in trouble next round, however. Fun fact: Squall doing worse than he did last round because of L-Block and Snake=Doom for Cloud.

Usually? a comeback from half that amount would be next to impossible, sonic doesn't have a chance.

I actually don't know if this is a bad thing for L... whoever takes off from 12-3 usually ends up losing the ASV. I'm not expecting it to happen, but I wouldn't be floored.

With any reasonable expectation as to the number of votes still to come in, Sonic would need to average ten percent better than L for the rest of the poll to have a chance of pulling it off at the last minute. Honestly, I'd be surprised if Sonic narrowed it down to under 3000.
Big Bob | Posted 11/1/2007 9:54:48 AM | message detail
Since L-Block has gotten 2nd in every match it was in, that just means that next round will be Snake > L-Block again, and the final will be Link > L-Block.

I want to see that happen.

Squall gained on Sonic last update. (Its already after noon in half the country!)

No way does sonic come back.

In other news, come on squall! Take 3rd!

Keep going, L-Block and Squall. And Sonic didn't cut L-Block at all with the morning vote, he's not going to do much with the ASV. I'd be surprised if he finishes this less than 6000 behind L.

I actually have a theory on L-Block.

There are probably people who didn't expect L-Block to get past the first round, but when it did, it suddenly got a lot stronger because of its win. The new strength it gained was enough to defeat Kirby. When it got past Kirby, the L-Block was given even more strength, which was high enough to get past the third round, and has now gotten even stronger to succeed in this round. And it will get even stronger in the semi finals.

This theory could also apply to Starcraft and Diablo, who were both low seeds that unexpectedly won the first round but then won other rounds as well.
