Because (most) of us are older, college kids and we don't find high-pitched rats funny or cool. I sincerely hope you don't believe that. Many college kids- especially video gamers actually LIKE Pokemon. At least two of them must like Pikachu enough to vote for him. Mind you, neither of them watched the anime. Otherwise, they would be stuffing Dante's votes. Though- given the new outbreak of cheating allegations- I wouldn't be surprised if that is happening. *coughCronomariostarcraftetccough* Besides- we thought this would happen with MC- why not Pikachu? | I agree. I personally am a college student with an irrational distaste for pokemon. However I know plenty of standard college gamers who enjoy pokemon. |

years...where would you put Zero, Luigi, Ryu Hayabusa, Riku, L-Block,
Mewtwo, Fox, Pikachu, Kratos, Kirby, Master Chief and Mudkip in
one-on-ones? IMO: Squall Auron Ganondorf Tifa Zelda Yoshi Dante Bowser (Kratos) (Luigi) Ryu Sora (Zero) (Master Chief) Leon (Kirby) Knuckles (Mewtwo) Yuna Vivi (Fox) Sub-Zero (L-Block) (Riku) Rikku (Ryu Hayabusa) Tidus (Pikachu) DK Alucard (Mudkip) Kratos > Luigi > Zero > MC > Kirby > Mewtwo > Fox > L-Block > Riku > Ryu H > Pikachu > Mudkip, in other words. MC > Dante. Without Leon and with two Nintendo characters, I refuse to believe that a Pokemon would advance. (And don't get me wrong, I like Mewtwo. But gah.) And uh, any amount of SFF between MC and Dante at all will allow
Pikachu to advance by hochi's logic. The voters have been conditioned
to vote for Pikachu whenever they are forced to choose between two

Pikachu just looks and acts annoying. The noise, the overuse. OK, I admit him being overwhored all over the place didn't help. ...I like Raichu, though. I wish it was a pic of Raichu instead. ...Hey, that'd make an interesting theme for pics in a round. Final Evolutions/forms. One Winged Angel Sephiroth...whatever Mario's strongest form is. Fierce Diety Link, etc. etc. ...I guess characters who don't have a final/ultimate form would be screwed...but I'm sure something can be pulled out of everyone's asses for them... --- "Opinions are like butts, little girl. I'm not sure if I buy all this Dante-talk for next round. I have a hard
time thinking he flat-out dominates Yuna or that Pikachu hurts Luigi
more than Ganon did. Granted, anything's possible, but I'm not sold on
Dante yet. I know he's smoking Leon who I was behind on upsetting
Dante, but we've seen an anomaly today too and I don't know what to
take from the match other than Dante > Leon (who I had big
expectations behind pre-contest). If MC happens to take any Dante
support from him (not my favorite theory, but it's being thrown

well, Leon beat Pikachu easily last round. unless you think Square
holds Pikachu back for some reason, there's just no reason to doubt
Dante here. that said, I've ALWAYS been skeptical of Dante. name me the best character he's ever beaten... Hayabusa, maybe? not all of that is his fault, but he had two good chances -- Ryu and Yoshi -- and lost both. I also think his favourite status is overblown. but just compare Luigi to Bowser, see what Mewtwo did to him, figure Pikachu will do the same if not more, and then consider that Dante at worst is equal to Luigi... tough to back Luigi on a pure previous-match basis. --- xyzzy "And just to clear up any remaining confusion, tranny > icon." -Shaggy |

The problem with that is that I see Pikachu sapping Luigi much more
likely than Dante sapping MC, even if neither seem very possible. At
the very least the Nintendo overlap cause a little LFF, and considering

Match LV: Kratos vs L-Block vs Solid Snake vs Riku Past Matches Round 2 Kratos - 32.48% L-Block - 28.33% Kirby - 24.81% Donkey Kong - 14.39% Solid Snake - 47.72% Riku - 19.43% Ryu Hayabusa - 18.91% Nightmare - 13.94% Analysis Last round L-Block started off with the lead before dying over the day and giving it to Kratos. Kirby however was stuck with DK and wasn’t able to comeback against the block. Snake destroyed his competition and despite losing to Ryu even with Roxas’ votes added in Riku was still able to sneak in the win and moves to the next round ready to have an epic match for second. Solid Snake will take first despite this being the sprite round. Like what happened to Big Boss a few matches ago Solid Snake won’t perform to what he is expected to and even though his competition is stiff I don’t see that he is in any danger of losing. Also looking at his competition Snake shouldn’t have much problems at breaking 40% unless L-Block decides it wants over 25% of the vote again. Giving a favorite going into this match is really hard though for my bracket I have Kratos in second and I still think he has the greatest chance at coming in second. Despite him having two matches we still don’t know by how much Kratos has gained from GoW2. He did beat L-Block who in my opinion is probably Kratos’ biggest threat, but with Solid Snake in the poll Kratos could be weakened since both games attract similar audiences. However with Snake getting an in-game picture of his first game I wouldn’t be surprised if Snake failed to affect Kratos and who is to say that he would affect him in the first place. L-Block is the ultimate joke character in this contest and like all joke characters they don’t normally perform to what the stats expect. Also like most joke characters L-Block has a following that will vote for it over anything, not saying everyone who votes for it during the first and second round will always vote for him, but as four-packs get stronger and stronger L-Block will lose less and less people. Riku while I don’t expect him to do much he does have a chance at taking second. Before the contest besides Kirby Riku was the next strongest character after Snake. However this four-pack and how the characters got here is much different than what we thought pre-contest. Kratos looked impressive though it could all be an illusion, L-Block is something we’ve never expect to happen while Riku looks weaker just barely beating Ryu who unless you believe Dante SFF him was much weaker in Yoshi’s four-pack. I have Solid Snake > Kratos though I can see anyone taking second in this match. L-Block will start with his usual great start and if the picture is hurting Snake enough he could lead over him for a few updates. L-Block is the ultimate joke character in this contest and like all

I think Dante is actually one of the most stable character there is, but I guess you're right with MC and Pika being two of the most ASV oriented characters, and Luigi also tilting slightly more towards the day vote (though he'll probably be at his highest during the Power Hour). I hope the picture goes up in the next twenty minutes. I've got to
perform in a Rocky Horror floor show tonight and want to know what it
looks like in advance! I'm going to try not to debate MC's match next round anymore just because so many arguments can be right and it's hard to disagree with a lot of it and all that fun stuff...I'll just say Luigi's my pick and Pikachu's my hope as far as second place goes. --- Damn, most of my dates involve mocking and/or beating up people like you and your bride-to-be, so I really have no advice --Horatio |

There's a real, though smallish, chance of MC not taking first. I don't
know about not placing though. Doesn't really seem possible. Unless

I believe there could be *some* overlap between Dante and Master Chief (as in, more than either of those two with Luigi and Pikachu, but it shouldn't be nearly on the level as the Ninty fellas, and shouldn't hold either of them back from placing. --- Samus 2K5 is horribly underrated, and is indirectly stronger than Mario. KHF sucks and never existed either, much like my package. |
