I do like Pikachu...but he's still the worst character in this match. :( Pikachu won't collapse. His earlier performances confirm this. Considering his opposition, he's prone to make this completely laughable by the time this is all over. Hey, we've seen trends this round change from previous rounds before, as lately as yesterday. --- Rapid analysis, accurate judgment, and superb powers of concentration. That is all we need. |

Anyone think Ryu has a chance of beating Megaman or Samus? They'll get
LFF on each other, and Cloud will be taking up a large amount of the

There were reasons, explanations for that kind of change, and it was *very* slight... this is Pikachu. It's a Pokemon. They always own the day (when they're not propped up on massive stuffing). ...this entire topic being nothing but HM aughs isn't as bad as you'd think --- Samus 2K5 is horribly underrated, and is indirectly stronger than Mario. KHF sucks and never existed either, much like my package. |

well, I think it's time we gave Pikachu some credit - he's somehow
legit after being so weak for so long. he may be benefitting from the
format or the "LFF", but he's nearly tripling Amaterasu. It's hard to deny that Pikachu has done as well as he has thanks to "LFF." The match with Tidus might have perhaps being indicative of his strength, assuming there wasn't much in the way of LFF there, but he's benefited tremendously from it in these big matches. He loses here, last round and maybe the first with no LFF to hold his opponents down. He certainly isn't as weak as he used to be, but I'm hesitant to begin to think he's even close to competing with the competition he's been up against the past couple of rounds. --- "Ha! We really don't know what to make of Pikachu. He's being boosted by the format, he's stronger than before, he was helped by LFF in previous rounds, that freakin' Dante/Leon LFF notion seems to have materialized, his pic advantage in this match is epic (like I said, *I* felt like voting for him), he looks great and his opponents look like unappealing crap. I don't think anyone can say Luigi had no shot, especially when a weaker Nintendo character is making Dante and Leon look like crap. On the bright side, Pikachu advancing and screwing with Luigi next

| In all seriousness, the bulk of the Pokemon fanbase has gone from young kids to preteens/early teens. It's only natural that Pikachu, who's pretty much the face of Pokemon would rise legitimately as the possible voters increase. He only gets extra exposure from the Anime on Cartoon Network and the SSB series. |

Well creative, the original Guru idea (everyone says something nice
about the winner in their sigs after the Contest) is still in place,
but the cool new addition is that these days the Champ gets to pick one
character/game (whatever the next Contest is) that the other Gurus have
to nominate. So like Moltar will (hopefully!) be earning 182
nominations for Donkey Kong Country 2 next Spring right off the bat.

Also I didn't even notice until now, but you can clearly see "okem" in
Pokemon font in the background. And we already knew the Pokemon
franchise itself had some strength at this site. Though I doubt that's
a big deal. Pikachu just doesn't look nearly as hateable as usual. Dante might finish 5 points under Pikachu here, but I think he'll
finish ahead of Pikachu next round anyway, due to lack of Dante/Leon
LFF, lack of Pikachu's massive pic advantage, and Luigi/Pikachu LFF. If it wasn't for Pikachu's path being so fixed, Dante's path would be looking like a joke. Luigi is on old school platform games, with no major portable presence,
whereas Pikachu is a newer RPG character whose games are mainly
portable and gets lots of exposure on the Pokemon anime. Just because they're both Nintendo doesn't mean there's got to be a ton of overlap. The only thing they have in common is both being on Nintendo, and the SSB series. |

But yeah, now that the shock has worn off, this result is starting to
earn a smile from me. Not only do I get a full 8 points from what was
in reality a very bad Leon > Dante call, I also stand to earn a
whole 16
from what would have been an awful Ganon > Dante call next round, if

The only thing they have in common is both being on Nintendo, and the SSB series. The Brawl overlap alone could mean quite a bit. But yeah, nothing is certain. It's pretty likely that they'll hurt each other though. Just because they're both Nintendo doesn't mean there's got to be a ton of overlap. No. Only the most radical exceptions (joke/stuffed/cult characters) stray from the one biggest tenet of SFF - Nintendo SFF rules them all. There will be SFF between Luigi and Pikachu next round, and neither of them have a shot at placing because of it. --- Samus 2K5 is horribly underrated, and is indirectly stronger than Mario.
