it's no worse than, say, Dante/Hayabusa It's entirely worse than that. If there are two games that have almost the exact same appeal gameplay wise, it's DMC and Ninja Gaiden. The only two other games that try to touch the action genre like they do is GoW and maybe Heavenly Sword. n00b I'll believe this Dante/Leon LFF crap when I see it Heh, I feel the exact same way. I just don't see why people expect this, it makes no sense. YoAriel Resident Evil 4 and Devil May Cry are about as close to the same genre as you can get. The first RE4 build went on to become Devil May Cry, actually. Now that's fascinating. Still don't buy the LFF though. PortgualTheMann They play nothing like each other, other than having guns. I guess Snake gets LFF'd by them too if they end up in a match together. I could actually see gun SFF before DMC/RE SFF :) Lopen I really don't consider DMC to have survival horror elements. Dante's just too much of a badass to have any feel of horror. What, because it has demons as enemies? I agree, I haven't seen much of the games but they don't seem to have much of a horror feel at all. | Chief has no shot to make it past Snake. He only
has a shot against Sonic if Sonic gets LFFed by Luigi (who is less than
50% to even make it there), or Snake SFFs his entire Brawl boost away

At the moment this match is only disappointing me as it relates to MC vs Cloud assuming MC gets to 35-36%. This is easily
tougher than any four pack a niner has faced aside from Link's. MC's
still very much in the running against Snake and Sonic based on their

Uh, there's big LFF between Link and Mario, and I'd say that their
games are a lot less similar than DMC and RE4. Not to mention the
extreme similarity of the character of Leon/Dante. --- Rapid analysis, accurate judgment, and superb powers of concentration. That is all we need. |

| As a big fan of both DMC and RE franchizes, I can vouch that there will be at least some SFF going on between Dante and Leon. The games do play completely different, but initially large portion of DMC fans were RE fans. As RE went Nintendo exclusive, those unwilling to adopt a new console turned to DMC. |

| MC may very well go over my prediction by the end
of the day. Good on him, I feel good about him in the semis yet
confident Sonic will make the finals over him. And Luigi has put this out of reach, expectedly. << lol overrating the picture factor, it reversed the trends of their previous match --- Samus 2K5 is horribly underrated, and is indirectly stronger than Mario. KHF sucks and never existed either, much like my package. |

Fine. I find it highly likely that
Ganondorf would be winning this match if he wasn't saddled with this...
thing. It just seems so natural; that thing is nigh unrecognizable to
many people who might otherwise vote for Ganondorf based on the 3D
games. Sure, it's Ganondorf, people should know him... but it's also Solid Snake, etc. Based on my pre-contest expectations, though, Ganondorf had no business letting Luigi get as close as he did last round in the first place, let alone upend him under ANY circumstances here. I wonder how a Yoshi/Ganondorf match would go... --- Samus 2K5 is horribly underrated, and is indirectly stronger than Mario. KHF sucks and never existed either, much like my package. |

I'm not sure if Ganon would be winning
with a different picture, but he would probably be doing a good bit
better at the least. I figured the LoZ sprite for Ganon is second only

A lot more people have played the original LoZ than the original MG,
but you have to get to the final boss in LoZ to see Ganon compared to
seeing Solid at the very beginning...and considering most people who
have played it haven't beaten the game, that's arguably comparable.
Ganon DID beat Luigi last round and Ganon got a FAR worse picture this

There's not much wiggle-room for Ganondorf doing 'significantly' better
with a different picture. Luigi's got, what, sub-51% between the two of

You know... I got to thinking of things about the pic factor... I'm thinking recognizability might not be the main thing. Solid **** might be mostly the sprite bringing bad memories of the game and just looking bad. I often vote against Solid **** when I'd normally vote Solid Snake given normal pictures... it's not because I haven't seen the sprite. I didn't really like Metal Gear, and that picture looks grotesque. Zelda 1 was loved, the original Metal Gear not so much. I dunno, I think maybe we're focusing too much on whether a picture brings recognizability to the character. It's probably a factor, sure... but really, thinking that it's the chief factor, especially in this format? Not necessarily, though. Even if he looks significantly weaker it could be the other two factors I'm bringing up. That being said, I also don't think the picture factor means as much in this format, and Snake should hold up fairly well. I've been calling for the picture factor to do something many times and it's bit me every time in this thing. Raiden the coffee maker, Auron overwhelming the pic a few days ago, today, and the atrocious NES Samus not really making a difference makes me doubt it. Big Boss is of course a special case. Though if anyone that isn't obvious gets hurt by an odd picture it's Raiden...
