Dude I wouldn't be surprised if Ganon had a 70 vote lead just from bracket votes at this point. Luigi is the favorite for second if you ask me.

A lot already figured there wouldn't be much LFF in Crono/Vincent. Not much more than in Link/Crono and Link/Vincent at any rate. Also Zero's collapse was because that's what the weakest character tends to do, unless bolstered by LFF (e.g. Lara - she would've collapsed if not for LFF).

For the weakest character, Yuna is actually doing pretty alright here.

I remember that people were doubting how much Crono/Vincent SFF there would be. But the sheer magnitude of Zero's collapse after his good showing last round seemed to indicate that either there was no SFF at all, which seems doubtful, or that it just didn't help Zero much.

Is that true, though, about the weakest character collapsing no matter the strength? I'd only really noticed it with Shadow, who just looked unjustifiably bad. Are there any others you can think of offhand?

As for Yuna, she's at least doing better than Zero, which is good. But she's up against Master Chief and two Nintendo characters, here. I could see the day vote knocking her below 15%, which would be not so good.

I don't think there was much at all. I think FF7 and Chrono Trigger are actually pretty different in terms of fanbase.

You just have to look at their board votes. They're like polar opposites.

There's a number of collapses - Nightmare, Big Boss, etc. (if the 3rd character is a lot weaker than the top 2, he'll collapse as well I think) Surprisingly Tidus held up well. Scorpion probably would've collapsed if not for LFF though.

for whatever it's worth:

both Chief and Yuna look bad today (at least per my expectations). I have a feeling that Chief's entire 8-pack was just weak and that he just looked dominant because everyone else did poorly. I'm not sure why this would be, but watching two closely related Nintendo guys keep it fairly close with him despite the overlap is rather disconcerting.

I'm not sure who I think is going to end up coming out of this one. For whatever reason, I'm feeling good about Luigi taking second here, but who knows what happens during the day.

Master Chief is looking pretty good here, though his chances of upsetting Sonic seem really slim right now.

This match is totally up in the air right now.

And yeah, Sonic's looking good. But then I thought he was somewhat safe after last round anyway.

I wonder who'd win a 1-on-1 match between Ganon and Master Chief. You gotta figure Ganon would be the big majority of Luigi's votes.

Zero was already a lot weaker than Crono and Vincent and certainly Link, plus Link had the reputation of SFF'ing Mega Man before. CT and FF7 are both known for hardcore fanbases as well...

...just saying that Zero bombing isn't terribly surprising. Zero impressing last round justified the line of thinking that he'd get more, but his first round match-up and the past two years tell me he shouldn't have got much more than what he did. It's the four-time champion who has SFF'd Zero's superior, another Noble Niner who has beaten his superior, and the man closest to legitimately breaking the Noble Nine we've ever seen (and arguably already has). By all means, Zero shouldn't have been close to competing...and he wasn't. I thought he'd get a little bit more, but by no means was his performance a surprise.

I think Chief is doing fine here. The only reason he looks bad in comparison is because he's not shattering everyone's expectations like he did the past two - he's meeting them. I think the average oracle prediction is probably somewhere around 35%, and I think he'll hit that mark, or at least come within 1% of it.

So if Zero's Round 2 score was the aberration, then what was the reason for it? Raiden and HK-47 are pretty weak, but you'd think the added percentage would've gone to Crono as well. And I don't see much in the way of SFF there or anything. Was it just a fluke?

Really? Great games for multiplayer. I love vehicles. And XBox Live is awesome. I haven't played Halo 3 yet though, however my brother plays it constantly.

Was it just a fluke?

I think Zero would do well on Crono 1-on-1. But the format killed him in the last match I think.

I had MC with 38%. I figured that, since Yuna's supposed to be close to Luigi before the Nintendo split, I thought she would be doing better than this (and hence, my theory that MC was stronger than the likes of Mega Man)... so I guess either Luigi and Ganondorf don't actually hurt each other much, or the fact that Yuna, Alucard, Liquid, and Zidane all seemed in place (in terms of x-stats) was a big coincidence. No, and I really don't think it's Yuna being affected by that "weakest link" factor, as she's doing just fine in relation to MC. Maybe the Halo 3 after-effect has worn off some, too.

I watched some friends play it this weekend! I don't like shooters, though -- I absolutely loathed Goldeneye and have no interest in Halo.

For as many games in the FPS genre that GameFAQs really likes (Goldeneye, Doom, the Half-Life series, the Metroid Prime series, Perfect Dark, Call of Duty [it won the realistic FPS-poll and a 360 GotY, dammit!], etc.) and as hardcore as we consider the people who love the Halo series, it's a wonder Halo isn't more widely liked here. It's definitely got a core foundation here, but it just doesn't seem too wide-spread...I prefer Goldeneye and Perfect Dark to the Halo series (maybe Metroid Prime as well), but it ought to be more well-liked here.

I blame Microsoft.

I thought that for a long time until I got a chance to play Goldeneye again last summer. I think I had more fun playing it again after so long than I ever did with Halo 1 or 2...probably nostalgia, though I always liked Perfect Dark so much more than GE.

Goldeneye is physically painful to play nowadays. That's one game that hasn't withstood the test of time, although the same can be said of most N64 games. Best to just remember playing that one!
