really don't understand why people think that pic is so bad. I'd give

Link's sprite is the worst, yes, but his background's the best! At least Link doesn't look like the reviled Celda...Crono in second CONFIRMED. What the gorf? Vincent's picture looks fine. Truth be told, I never
really got the CT sprites = instant win idea. Sure, the Crono/Mario

Well, I was referring to the fact that some people blame WW Link as the

I hope nothing gets blamed on the picture with this one. These guys are
way too well-known and look decently enough that the picture is going
to dramatically alter the results either way. I think Crono's chances
here are the same regardless of whether he gets a sprite or not --

Sure, the Crono/Mario 2004 match backs it up, but they don't even look that great. Crono also got a sprite against Mario in 2k3. --- Rapid analysis, accurate judgment, and superb powers of concentration. That is all we need. |

CT sprite overperformance has never really extended to Crono, though.
All the abnormalities are seen in lesser CT characters like Frog and

Anybody else get the feeling that he's going to be less
pic-sensitive now due to the Brawl boost though? I'm thinking he's
still going to impress here even with a crap picture. I would think that if anything he would be more pic sensitive, since the new fanbase would be less likely to recognize the sprite. yeah i dont really get it either. take away SM64 and is Mario as strong as he is? The only N9 characters where you can take away their 3d games and they'd probably still be N9 material is Sonic and MM. They would definitely not be as popular as they currently are, but I would think that Mario and probably Link would still be Noble 9 without 3D. I would be shocked if Mario wasn't. And Crono too, probably since he has no 3D games, unless you want to count the PSX remake, which if you did is more reasonable. --- "Look out-- It's Liquids and Gases!" |

"Ganon sprite." I'd be pretty surprised if Bacon opted for something

Match LII: Link vs Vincent Valentine vs Crono vs Zero Past Matches Round 2 Link - 51.19% Vincent Valentine - 27.75% Bidoof - 13.27% Zelda - 7.78% Crono - 36.65% Zero - 32.64% Raiden - 17.26% HK-47 - 13.45% Analysis Welcome to the match of the round and the match and the match with the best chance for the Noble Nine to fall. Last round after a slow start Link rose up quickly in percent and became one of the only three characters to break 50%. Vincent also started slow letting Bidoof lead over him for over one hour before destroying him with the day vote. Crono on the other hand started off strong and as usual weakened over the day and it was Zero who benefited from his percent loss. Despite this match being the most hyped match of the round Link should be uncontested at getting first. His champion crown may be contested, but he shouldn’t be worried about losing until the finals. Link will fail to break 50% this round since he only got 51% against Vincent, Bidoof and a SFF Zelda and looking at his competition I wouldn’t be surprised if he failed to break 45%. Hopefully Link doesn’t get too low since the lower the percent he gets the bigger the Cloud over Link bandwagon becomes. The real match is who gets second? Crono was the favorite before the contest, but now Vincent is the favorite at taking second. Last round Vincent was able to do better on Link than what Crono was expected to though Vincent did have the benefit of having Zelda in the poll. What will ultimately decide the poll will probably be whoever has the most diverse fanbase and looking at the character it seems like Vincent has the least amount in common with the other characters. Sure both Crono and Vincent were made by Square, but Crono’s game was on a Nintendo system along with Zero and Link while Vincent was on the PS. Before the contest Crono was the slight favorite going in, though you wouldn’t know by looking at the guru brackets, but by now he has become the underdog. Last year Crono was only able to out do Vincent against Sonic by just a little more than a percent and even though nothing has changed the format could be the end of Crono. Both Magus and Frog didn’t do as expected in their matches and Crono himself didn’t look so hot against Zero. One of the few things going for him in this match is that this round is the sprite round and in the past Chrono Trigger characters have done well in this type of round, though in the past Magus and Frog have benefited the sprite round by much more than Crono. |

| Before the contest, though I wasn’t vocal I did
believe that Zero had a chance at coming in second in this match,
though his chances were much smaller than Crono and Vincent. The only
way I could see Zero taking second was if he got really close to Crono
in round two and hoped that Crono and Vincent split the vote in order
for Zero to slip by. Last round Zero was able to get close enough to
Zero to be able to sneak the upset if Crono and Vincent were to split
the vote. Looking at the vote totals in 2k5 between Crono and Vincent
notice that it is slightly lower than the other vote totals and the
only matches that have a lower vote total round three and on were
matches containing fanbase overlap (Samus/Ganondorf, Bowser/Kirby, Mega
Man/Yoshi). If there is some kind of fanbase overlap Zero could avoid
coming in last or better yet sneak the upset. This is the match of the round and if the Noble Nine remain intact after this match the only character I can see breaking it would probably be Master Chief. Link takes first while Crono, Vincent and Zero could place in any order. If Crono wants to win he should get a huge lead over Vincent and Zero since with his terrible day vote in pair with their good day vote his lead could disappear in a flash. Yeah, I was thinking around the same lines, but in 2003. Had Ganondorf
beaten Magus, Bible Link vs "Gannon" might have been more brutal than

| The thing I don't like about Crono's picture here is that it's just too big, and I'm on a 1600x1200 resolution. Must look a lot worse on lower ones. Magus, Frog and Crono 2k4 all looked great to me, but this one's pretty bleh. Not that it's gonna hurt him any, I just think it looks bad. |
