I think the next round of pictures is pretty unfair. A handful of
characters can get screwed by no fault of their own strength, and while
it could potentially help me with Luigi (that Mario/Luigi sprite is
pretty iconic), it could really screw Vincent. Bible Link may not spank
Crono/Zero as much as modern Link, limiting one of Vincent's key

I think Mega Man should thank Yoshi for getting a picture good enough
as to possibly resist a bit more Samus SFF. I know that Samus's picture
is likely the worst, but Mega Man looks like crap as well. His sprite
isn't nearly as iconic as someone like Mario's, and hell, he ain't even

Used to describe when one character's presence in a poll is weakening
the other. Like Vaan stealing more of Rikku's votes than anyone else's

I don't think Crono being a sprite helps him at all. He lost to Mario
once with it, and didn't kill Vincent or anything or it. I think it
might benefit Frog or Magus more. Also... I'm curious to see if Samus
being a sprite hurts her. I'm not sure if we'll ever be able to tell. I
think there's a decent chance that Samus underperformed against Squall
in 2K3, come to think of it. I'd have to lean toward it not affecting
Samus much, though. Pig Ganon... yeah, it's gotta hurt Ganondorf.
Gooooo Luigi! Still worried about Yuna, though... My most anticipated matches... 1. Luigi/Ganondorf/Yuna/Master Chief... if Luigi wins this... it will be the best moment of the contest, bar none! It should be a 3-way nailbiter for second place, while at the same time we get to see if MC can keep up with his past performance. 2. Link/Crono/Vincent/Zero... I'm very, very interested in seeing Crono/Vincent and seeing how Zero holds up. 3. Snake/Kratos/L/Riku... I'm incredibly excited about L-Block. 4. Samus/Mega Man/Yoshi/Scorpion... looking very much forward to not only Samus/Mega Man, but also who wins out of Yoshi/Scorpion. 5. Sonic/Squall/Sora/Sub-Zero... I'm curious to see how Squall holds up to Sonic, and likewise how Sora does in comparison to Squall now that Aeris is gone. Heck, if Squall and Sora LFF each other a good amount, Sub-Zero could take second (however, that isn't looking so good judging by Round 2... hopefully it's just that Shredder pic) 6. Cloud/Auron/Ryu/Marcus... Looking forward to Auron/Ryu. 7. Dante/Leon/Pikachu/Amaterasu... Dante/Leon should be good. 8. Sephiroth/Mario/Big Boss/Fox... pretty boring. Maybe Mario could get dangerously close to Sephiroth if we're lucky. Too bad SMG isn't even close to being out. --- "Ah, a party! We haven't had one of those. It could be fun! So...what is a party?" "Well, you drink punch and eat CAKE! ...I think." |

NIce to see Sonic kicking serious ass. But to be honest, his opponents
are weaker in this match so I don't want to jump to conclusions that
SSBB did all this for him. But this > Masterchief's performance so
it seems like they will have a tough fight when they meet. As for the next round: 1: Cloud/Marcus/Auron/Ryu Once again Ryu gets a horrible picture, while Auron and Marcus looks ok. While Cloud is the obvious winner, I think all the other characters can get the 2nd spot, but Ryu should be the small favourite. 2: Link/Vincent/Crono/Zero This is exactly the same thing. Link obvious wins but the three others can take it. Personally I got faith in Crono. 3: Luigi/Ganondorf/Yuna/Master Chief This seems pretty obvious, but I think that Yuna could maybe squeek by Luigi/Ganondorf. Ganondorf however wins over Luigi, and MC should have an easy victory here. 4: Yoshi/Mega Man/Samus/Scorpion. Mega Man > Yoshi > Samus. Ah yeah sexy upset and noble nine breaker. 5: Squall/Sora/Sonic/Sub-Zero Subby isn't looking as strong as in last round, so I think that Squall takes it. 6: L-Block/Kratos/Snake/Riku/ This will be a boring match IMO. Easy victory for Snake and the L-Block. 7: Dante/Ammy/Pikachu/Leon Pikachu might have a chance, but Dante > Leon seems so obvious right now. 8: Sephiroth/Fox/Mario/Big Boss Sephiroth dominates Mario, we have seen it twice and we will see it again.Easily the most boring match in round 3. --- Ngamer64: Zylo, you're making less sense every day. Kyle Bowen: Ignore me then and dont be an ass when I post. It solves everything. |

On Crono and sprites: He had a sprite against Mario in 2003, Mario in 2004, Vincent in 2005, and Auron in 2006. (and against Lara in 2002, but I doubt that match has any relevance) The 2004 match was of course Crono's most impressive performance ever. As for the 2003 match, it's quite obvious there was massive cheating for Mario, in addition to the poll running for longer than 24 hours. Now then, Mario had a huge boost in 2005- Crono overperforming due to the picture and/or MvC2 backlash helps to explain this. Vincent also boosted the year after facing sprite Crono- from 45% on Crono to 48% on a Sonic that beat Crono, although this can also be attributed to Dirge of Cerberus. Auron has also looked very impressive this year, as have Master Chief and Sub-Zero, so perhaps Crono really did overperform with the sprite picture, although that puts Auron quite close to Crono with normal pictures. --- Character Battle VI -- Points: 167/240 -- T-460 (55 way) Bracket: Squall > Aeris -- Vote: Aeris |

1. Link/Crono/Vincent/Zero This is my #1 because it means the most for my bracket. I *need* Vincent to win, or my bracket has no hope. 2. Luigi/Ganondorf/Yuna/Master Chief I think a lot could happen in this match - however even with LFF, I see Yuna flopping pretty bad here. 3. Cloud/Auron/Ryu/Marcus I'm mad at myself for changing to Bowser here - but at the same time I'm anticipating a close 3way battle for 2nd still. 4. Samus/Mega Man/Yoshi/Scorpion I don't think Samus>Mega Man is in trouble. This is just one of our first matches with 4 big shots and it'll be great to see how the %s get spread out. 5. Dante/Leon/Pikachu/Amaterasu I have D>L, however I'm a bit worried about the other order. I'm assuming this one will be over within 10 minutes though. 6. Snake/Kratos/L/Riku LBlock advancing is cool, but for the most part it wont mean much for our brackets. I think most people have Kirby - those with Kratos will care about this match, I don't. 7. Sonic/Squall/Sora/Sub-Zero Sonic and Snake both impressed me a lot. With Aeris out of the picture and SZ not doing so hot today, this is almost as obvious as... 8. Sephiroth/Mario/Big Boss/Fox *yawn* My bracket needs Mario to do well in round 4, so I'll be curious about the percentages here. It wont be close though.. |

LoZ would have a really high playrate too, but Pig Ganon is only the final boss, so you don't see him for very long. http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=2662 76.28% of the site has played the original LoZ (compared to SMB's 93.54%)...38.57% of which never beat it. I really doubt the remaining 37.71% liked how Ganon looked in comparison of his later forms, too. That game's sprite of Ganon is fugly and likely not going to be recognized by most if it was by itself. Also, with tomorrow's pic...I have an awful feeling about Samus. She's
the strongest of the bunch, but with THAT sprite and Mega Man/Yoshi
getting such classic shots -- not to mention Scorpion's as well -- I
don't like what might happen tomorrow... ...for my bracket -- I would LOVE to see Mega Man smash Samus! By the way Subzero is probably lessening the damage as we speak, but
the Sonic/Subby proportion went from 54.6/45.4 to a straight up

My next round rankings, with strong emphasis on my bracket. 1. Luigi/Ganondorf/Yuna/Master Chief - The most important match towards my bracket. I've got Ganon>MC & then Ganon>Dante, so Yuna hopefully taking advantage Ganon/Luigi leeching can help get me points later on. 2. Cloud/Auron/Ryu/Marcus - Second most important match for me. Excited to see Ryu get this far, but wish Auron didn't do so well last round to put the match in doubt...but I'm still confident Cloud will help Ryu squeeze into 2nd 3. Link/Crono/Vincent/Zero - CT characters seem to do better with sprites so I'm worried that what seemed like a near-lock for Vincent will end up giving Crono a temporary boost! 4. Samus/Mega Man/Yoshi/Scorpion - This should be Samus' win, but just not sure right now. Stupid NES pic! 5. Dante/Leon/Pikachu/Amaterasu - I think Dante>Leon should happen, this is important for me because a few people have Leon>Dante. 6. Sonic/Squall/Sora/Sub-Zero - BRAWLFEAR virtually killed alot of my interest in this match. Maybe Sora makes things somewhat interesting with his killer day vote, but expecting Sonic>Squall to hold. 7. Snake/Kratos/L/Riku - I had Snake>Kirby, so no interest for my bracket. Just interested in seeing how long the Block can keep this going. 8. Sephiroth/Mario/Big Boss/Fox - YAWN! Nothin' to see here. --- Current Points: 191 -- 35th on Leaderboard 11/17/07: The day Street Fighter 4 became a reality! |

I've got MC > Ganon this round...and next. I think Yuna has to be
