Explanation of Extrapolated Standings:
http://sc2k5.com/drupal/node/11

Simple Explanation of Extrapolated Standings:
A = Strongest Character
B = Character Weaker than A
C = Character Weaker than B
To figure out a character's Xsts Percentage ---> [(CvB)(BvA)]/50 = CvA
To compare how C would do against B ---> [(CvA)/(BvA)]*50 = CvB
To figure out how B would do against A ---> [(CvA)/(CvB)]*50 = BvA

1-8. 9-12.

I couldn't imagine going to the same school as an 8th grader as a bunch of 1st graders... K-5, 6-8, 9-12 was a pretty good break.

Wait. How many people are in your city/town? That would have been impossible to fit all those kids into the same building here in Baltimore. >_>

my school was k-6, 7-8, 9-12. when I hit high school it changed to k-5, 6-8.

speaking strictly of the NES days, it'd be Link > Mario > Mega Man >> everything else. Hayabusa, maybe Fighter if that was allowed, maaaaaaaybe Pit, and... that's really all I can think of. the Double Dragon guy, maybe. Simon/Trevor Belmont, too.

nice cut by Riku there.

Actually, I forgot. My school moved everyone except the Gifted students out after Grade 6. It's just the fact that I'm at the same high school as them now that confused me.

But yeah, high school gets out at 3:00PM and elementary at 3:15. Most of my friends take over an hour to get home.

No way Link was more popular than Mario in the NES days. You had the SUPER MARIO BROS SUPER SHOW with a Friday special of EXCUUUUUSE ME PRINCESS. Hell, it might even have been Mario > Mega Man > Link back then...

Well now we're just exaggerating. Most of my friends would have known Link (I don't think a single guy would've known Solid Snake). Link was known, even before Adventure of Link. He just could never have competed with Mario, that was Mario's peak. Mario game sales in future generations have been more standard hit, rather than "every single gamer owns the latest Mario game" level.

And Erdrick would've been complete fodder.

If Rikus wins this, it'll be the Flip-Flop of the Century.

How the heck did you know Link? Was his name ever mentioned in the game? I certainly don't remember seeing it.

I don't know how, but the name Link was well known among gamers back then. People knew who he was. He just wouldn't have been able to compete with Mario, but it's not like he would've been weak. Everybody had played LoZ.

Oh and Little Mac. I'd have taken Little Mac > Samus.

I dunno, to me LoZ seemed like the kinda game that got more popular with age. Going strictly from the NES days, I don't think it was terribly strong. Okay, maybe stronger than Belmont of Billy Lee, but they'll come a lot closer to giving him a run than he does to giving Mario or Mega Man a run.

Zelda was not more popular than Mario. Maybe to some, but you can't deny that Mario was way bigger back then. Especially with his multiple shows. You had the original Super Mario Bros. Super Show, then you had SMB3/Captain N on Saturdays, and then you had SMW replacing that later on. The Friday Zelda shows were cool and all, but it was all about Mario back then.

you'd think Mario was more popular now, too. more people know Mario, more people probably know/like M64 than OOT. not here though!

I've always thought Link had a more appealing design, even back when he was an itty bitty green thing.

Oh and Little Mac. I'd have taken Little Mac > Samus.

No way.

Most thought Samus was a guy, but they still knew her, and those who wouldn't know her name would've recognized Metroid dude. Little Mac would not have been strong at all, even though everyone had played Punch-Out. Mac's name recognition would've been very low.

I dunno, to me LoZ seemed like the kinda game that got more popular with age. Going strictly from the NES days, I don't think it was terribly strong.

This is not true. If you were a gamer, you had the NES. If you had the NES, you had almost surely played LoZ, even if you didn't own it.

I didn't even know there was a Donkey Kong Country show until after the show was cancelled... What channel did it come on again? Something I never watched like ABC Family or something... By that time, I had lost following of cartoon shows. After the X-men series stopped showing, I lost interest in cartoons as a whole. :( Best series ever...
