And wow. Either Vivi has fallen completely off the map, or Tidus is
somehow higher on the FF SFF chain. I never would have guessed it given

Pikachu won't drop. His best time against Tidus was the ASV. Mudkip and
Bidoof were only so frontloaded because they had 4chan rallying and a

From the :30 mark in his Round 1 match Pikachu actually finished slightly higher. He's not dropping this one. --- Samus 2K5 is horribly underrated, and is indirectly stronger than Mario. KHF sucks and never existed either, much like my package. |

Perhaps Vivi is lower on the pecking order for new school FF fans, and just much much higher for old school FF fans. That could explain what appears to be some rSFF in this match. And I find it pretty amusing that the games doing well are Halo and Pokemon, two series that are supposed to have completely different demographics. (Rated M For Mature, anyone?) |

Tidus is killing Vivi here. Stupid Tidus - flop like crazy when we root for you, then leech like mad from Vivi when we need you to suck. Gah, so frustrating. I dub this the official WORST. RESULT. I have several people on GameFox-style ignore (you can see that they've

Man, this is horrible -- worse than anything 'doof or Mudkip ended up
doing. I didn't figure it was too likely that Vivi completely dominated
the SFF here, but good grief. I still can't believe there's that many
people out there that like this thing. I mean, Pikachu? Really? Bah.
Glad we're finished with seeing Pokemon for a while after this one.The

I don't love Master Chief, but I don't mind him. Halo is awesome, and
Xbox 360 Live Arcade is awesome. The 360 is my favorite console this
generation. Pikachu however just sucks horribly. And Vivi rules. For Pikachu to be winning over Vivi simply because Tidus is in the match is just puke-inducing. I don't see how today's outcome is so unexpected, but then a lot of people here were seriously underestimating Tidus. I was underestimating him, but he was expected to get 20% here Oracle-wise. Hopefully Leon can put some more distance between him and Pikachu. I'd

Have Dante's performances really looked that bad? I guess they seem a bit underwhelming considering that Amaterasu
has come in second in both his matches, but Okami may be moderately

| Once again, Mudkip and Bidoof are joke Pokemon
that were REALLY frontloaded due to 4chan and the board vote. They had

Yeah, I can't say this is very surprising, but just seeing it
right there on the front page is enough to turn me sour. Of course, I
don't really know much about Vivi, so I'm kinda meh right now. If
Pikachu somehow takes advantage of the Leon/Dante split next round,

Didn't Vivi hold up pretty well to Sephiroth though? That was when he was good in 2004. He also slaughtered DK that year. In 2005, he got smacked pretty hard by Zelda and fell fto a mid-carder. Now he's looking at below Rikku level. It makes sense, Vivi should never have been high as he was. Another FF character knocked out of the elites. Now we have Cloud Seph Vincent Auron Squall Tifa Aeris was knocked out last year and Tidus was knocked out a long time ago. IMO Dante has disappointed. I would say Zero's round 1 fourpack beats
the crap out of both of Dante's matches, but I would have pegged Zero
and Dante as being equal. We'll see how he does against actual
competition next round, but Ganon and MC are looking most likely to

I think people just really underestimated Tidus because of '06 That's willfully ignoring the fact that Tidus got killed against Kirby in a match he was easily supposed to win, and before that got killed by Mega Man after going even with Shadow the Hedgehog (a much less impressive affair now that we know where Shadow is). When you consider in retrospect that hanging so close to Vivi is the most impressive thing Tidus has done since nearly beating Ganondorf, that's pretty sad. --- Samus 2K5 is horribly underrated, and is indirectly stronger than Mario. yo sums it up pretty well. I don't think any of us really didn't expect
this after Round 1, or at least knew in the back of our minds this had
a really good shot at happening, it's just that it's such a putrid
disgusting, horrid, awful result, that we were going to deny it all the
way until the end. (I said this match was over 30 minutes ago... at it
was, yet I'm still checking each update on the second thinking "oh man

Uhh... Tidus is still the hero of FFX. There's no need to think just
because he's not performing horribly you have to assume rSFF. And, some
of you actually thought Vivi would SFF Tidus? I wouldn't consider FF9
to be as closely related to FF10 as, say, FF8 or even FF7. Also, I
think we're seeing today that Vivi and Tidus aren't suffering from a
fanbase split nearly as much as Squall and Aeris in Round 1. Oh, and whoever compares Pikachu to Barney needs to be shot! --- "Ah, a party! We haven't had one of those. It could be fun! So...what is a party?" "Well, you drink punch and eat CAKE! ...I think." |

Honestly, I don't think there's any rSFF here. I think people just

Pikachu would be weaker for some reason. I could see that, I suppose. If I understand the concept correctly, SFF (or rSFF) isn't supposed to happen as much if the characters are roughly equal to begin with (Cloud/Sephiroth '03, for example). I had a hard time believing Tidus and Vivi were near-equals after round 1, but with Pikachu getting a decisive win over both of them it would actually seem pretty likely. So would Squall kill Vivi just as bad as he killed Tidus...? |

In 2005, Vivi and Tidus were close. So, we just assumed Vivi would SFF
Tidus because it's Tidus but that was actually pretty stupid of us to
think a side character from FFIX could SFF the lead from FFX. Really,
there's no SFF here. But Tidus is bringing Vivi down by cutting into
