Division 7: Round 2 - Match 45 – Kirby vs. L-Block vs. Kratos vs. Donkey Kong Moltar’s Analysis Kirby Round 1 – 44.39% vs. L-Block, Laharl and Nathan Go Kirby! L-Block Round 1 – 30.89% vs. Kirby, Laharl and Nathan Go…wait L-Block won?! Kratos Round 1 – 40.13% vs. DK, Marth and Prince of all Cosmos Had no problems with his group. DK Round 1 – 27.66% vs. Kratos, Marth and Prince of all Cosmos …At least he didn’t lose to Marth! In the wake of the events of last round, I managed to snag an exclusive interview with the one thing that managed to shock the world last round. He’s the man, the myth, the Tetris Block. Moltar: Welcome to the Analysis Crew Interview L-Block. It’s a pleasure to have you on. L-Block: Thanks Moltar, it’s an honor to be here. Moltar: First, I got to say congratulations to making it to Round 2. Not only did you beat out Laharl, but you got over 30% of the vote with Kirby in the poll. That’s quite an achievement. L-Block: You know, I’m kind of surprised myself. I mean, all I heard before the match was “L-Block’s not a character, no one will vote for a Tetris piece.” That really hurt me. Just because I’m a Tetris piece doesn’t mean I have feelings? All the different Tetris pieces are characters. We all have our stories to tell and our trials to overcome. I’m just glad that the voters realized that I am a character, and came out to support me in large numbers. Moltar: What do you have to say to those who are saying that you only advanced due to weak competition, and that you stand no chance with Kratos and DK in the poll. L-Block: Well, I have to say it’s going to be tougher this time around. Kirby, Kratos, DK, all big names. I’m just hoping my perfomance last round stays in the voters’ minds, because I don’t plan on lying down this round. Moltar: Any last words you want to say? L-Block: Just a word to the fans. Thanks for all your support so far. I really appreciate the push you gave me last round, and hoping that I get the same backing this round. Doing well in this Contest is a must to me, because I have a family to support, and they’re banking on me to keep food on the table. Moltar: …you have a family? L-Block: Of course. A loving wife, and two kids, a boy and girl. Moltar: …you have a GENDER? You can have children?! HOW?!?! L-Block: …I’m quite offended now. Just because I am a Tetris piece doesn’t mean I can’t do the same things humans can do. Same for the other blocks, Square Block, T-Block, I-Block, Z-Block… Moltar: Well, that concludes our Interview. Kratos: I will now proceed to find out if Tetris Piece bleed like humans do! So, I have Kratos > Kirby here. Kirby doesn’t take first due to a bit of a split with DK. Nothing as bad as Vivi/Tidus today, but enough to hurt Kirby enough. I also don’t think L-Block holds up as well here thanks to three big names as opposed to one. Moltar’s Bracket Says: Kratos > Kirby Moltar’s Prediction is: Kratos: 33% - Kirby: 27% - DK: 20% - L-Block: 20% Ultimaterializer’s Analysis L-Block advancing was badass as all hell, but he'll probably succumb to all of the Nintendo power here. But not before massive joke votes give him a Bidoof-like run for a little while. He may very well be in 1st or second place for an hour or two before running out of gas. Kratos and Kirby are the picks to advance here, because DK is a choke artist and no Nintendo fan will allow DK to not be on the ass end of Nintendo SFF. As for who takes first place, it should be damn close. Kratos and Kirby put up very similar numbers in their first round matches, and both will make huge day vote pushes. |

HOWEVAAAAH, there's the Golden Rule: "When in doubt, go with Nintendo". Ulti's Prediction: Kirby [38.00%] Kratos [37.00%] L-Block [18.00%] Donkey Kong [7.00%] Heroic Mario’s Analysis So now that we’re finally through with the Pokemon for a while, it’s time for some quality joke characters to rock a match! Despite picking L-Block to advance into this round, I had no idea the thing would actually have somewhat legitimate strength. Sure, everyone knows the L-Block, but man… that was crazy. Seems to be the nature of these contests, though – joke characters dominate. After seeing Pikachu slip by today due to SFF (or LFF, whatever), I’m thinking the ol’ Block might be able to pull out something here. I’d imagine most people are figuring Kirby’s safe, but I wouldn’t be so sure with Donkey Kong there. We’ve seen time and again throughout this contest that SFF can prevent you from advancing even when you’re the stronger character. I think we’re going to see that in action again here today. No way do I even think about taking L-Block over any of these guys one-on-one, but when they’re vulnerable? Maybe. L-Block for round 4? Who knows! Kratos should have a good match here, though. He’s the most independent of this group, and I’d consider him the strongest, too. I figure this’ll be kinda similar to how today went – sub in Kratos for Leon, L-Block for Pikachu. The match should be great to see when it starts, but this one should be over one way or another before the hour is up. (woohoo go block) Kratos – 33% L-Block – 24% Kirby – 23% Donkey Kong – 20% Bracket: Kratos > Kirby Vote: I AM THE GOD OF WAR Yoblazer’s Analysis I have no idea whether to put L-Block in first, second, or third. I really don't. In Round 1, he lost to Kirby by a very wide margin, but he was still one of the round's star performers, obliterating all expectation and actually leading for a while. It was amazing, and I'm hoping we see even more awesomeness tonight. In addition to Kirby and the greatest joke entrant we've ever seen, this match also features Kratos (God of War) and Donkey Kong. With DK in the poll, Kirby should look noticeably weaker. The two share the same company, console(s), and series in Smash Bros., so there should be a significant overlap there. This gives the up-and-coming Kratos just the boost he needs to win, and yes, I do consider him to be the clear favorite today. The big X-Factor, of course, is the L-shaped Tetris block. Call me crazy, but I have no problem seeing it finish in the top two. Kirby will already enter the poll in a disadvantageous fanbase split, and DK and Kratos seem like two very favorable opponents for the great blocks. DK is a huge choker, and Kratos is too new for me to believe that he won't lose votes to the greatest, most awesomest joke character ever. L-Block was able to stand toe-to-toe with Kirby for the first 20 minutes of his inaugural match before falling behind. Don't be surprised if he gets off to an even better start this time around. I don't see anyone in his competition that can put him away early. And what of the results? God, I want to have L-Block in the top two so badly, but I just don't think he has that type of pop. In a perfect world, I'd be wrong and the big L would ride this seemingly favorable competition to a spectacular victory. It ain't a perfect world, but I still see him putting up a great fight. Kratos - 29% Kirby - 28% L-Block - 27% Donkey Kong - 16% Lopen’s Analysis Sorry, to go Ulti style on this one but I'm incredibly busy now. Anyway... I've got Kratos > Kirby here. I figure the SFF split between Kirb and DK would drag Kirb into second. Though looking at round 1 I'm not positive Kratos needs the split anymore. L-Block should hold up pretty well, better than DK. |

And by the way: This match seems pretty obvious. Kratos > Kirby is a total lock. Lopen's prediction: Kratos - 29.92% Kirby - 28.08% <(v_v)> (Kirby is sad.. I'm sorry, you deserved a better write up than this!) L-Block - 23.08% DK - 18.92% Transience’s Analysis of all the Guru picks pre-contest that made no sense to me, Kirby > Kratos was the biggest one. I'm guessing it's because no one was willing to give Kratos his due because he'd never won a match before, but Kratos/Kirby straight-up was already highly debatable. throw in Donkey Kong to suck Kirby's votes away and the answer is obvious -- Kratos takes first place. there's no debate here. Kirby/Donkey Kong is easy enough, too. Donkey Kong reminds me of a mini-Bowser. same trends, same level if iconic-ness, big and fat, likable while not really being anybody's favourite character. DK's got the tie though, which is better than the spikes. Kirby did absolutely fantastic against Bowser in 2005, and I see no reason why he would struggle to beat DK. that guy seems to be at the bottom of the Nintendo totem pole. Marth gave him a decent match, and I'm sure people like Kirby more. then there's old L. within about 27 seconds, L-Block went from being in a debated match with friggin' Laharl to his chances in round 2.. 3... even 4. thanks to one of the great early votes of all time, L held the lead over Kirby for the first five minutes, lost it and then inexplicably took it back a couple of updates later. he bled pretty hard throughout the day, but still managed to pull 30% in a poll with Kirby. from what we've seen, "joke characters" are the least likely to suffer from other entrants in the poll. given that Kirby is going to be nerfed thanks to DK, can L-Block pull it off? this is basically a repeat of the Mudkip match a few days ago, only L pulled a higher percentage and Kirby/DK are weaker than Luigi/Ganondorf. oh, and Kratos will hurt the Nintendo guys more than the block. add in all these, and I'm taking the block! L-block is shaped like a boot to kick your ass. it will beat that dum ball. transience's prediction: Kratos with 32.68%, L-Block with 25.44%, Kirby with 23.99%, Donkey Kong with 17.89% Guest’s Analysis - Biolizard28 Let's all take a moment to point and laugh at me for picking DK>Marth and then Kirby>Marth. Laugh at my FE love! Finished? Good. Kirby and Kratos are the clear favorites to move on here, though the order is up in the air. On the one hand, we just saw Kratos tear through a 4-pack of decent opponents, excluding the Prince, while Kirby allowed L-Block to double Laharl. I honestly don't know how that happened. L-Block was moving on, no question, but a doubling? I don't know if it was joke votes or serious, but L-Block looked pretty impressive. But I don't buy it. His two opponents were absolute fodder, and he was bound to come out looking like a winner. He should take a comfortable last. But enough about him. Donkey Kong is completely screwed, with Kirby draining (or rather, sucking) any Nintendo votes away. Will DK's share be enough to bring Kirby down? Who knows? With Kratos taking the casual and "mature" votes, Kratos>Kirby looks pretty sexy right now. But I'm putting my money on Kirby. And after watching the craziness of Round 2 thus far, can you blame me for counting on a reasonable upset? Bio's Bracket Says: Kirby>Marth YOU SIMPLY DON'T UNDERSTAND THIS LOVE Bio's Prediction: Kirby - 35%, Kratos - 32%, L-Block - 15%.
