I guess I missed that part where he got stronger.

His beating of Aeris is pretty convincing unless you think Aeris pooped off the map for some reason.

I am less concerned with Squall > Gannon than I would be Squall > Auron after seeing Aurons match this year.

Perhaps if Squall crushed Aeris AND Sora (and laura) close to the same way his last fourpack went. Which would assume Squall (and Aeris) will SFF Sora to hell.

Squall/Auron would be a VERY intriguing match I think. Auron I think could take it because of KH2.Pre KH2 Squal easily but I don't think so anymore, but I don't know maybe I'm putting to much into KH2. I also think, after Auron's last match, that he has a chance of advancing again even with Cloud.

Auron got stronger last year, but I still take the Ganondorf/Vincent/Squall trio over him. After them though, Auron's probably the strongest.

Based on how Aeris did last year, I'd go with this.

Squall did fine, but he certainly didn't boost because he had absolutely no reason to.

Well, Aeris let Akuma get within 3,000 votes of her. I'd say that match is more Aeris doing poorly than Squall doing really well. I think Squall did as expected there.

If you take away the standard 2K-4K votes for Mudkip here, then the Luigi/Ganon LFF looks a lot more reasonable. Still clearly present, but not massive. So I don't think Yuna can move past Ganon there. However, it isn't guaranteed.

Yuna overturning a 60/40 result can happen with LFF. But it's unlikely here because if you ignore 2K-4K votes the extent of the LFF doesn't seem enough. Yuna should make that somewhat close however.

But MC winning there was close to lock ever since we saw Bowser/Mewtwo and MC/Yuna. This match makes it look even better, but it was already pretty clear that MC would be a huge favorite there.

I don't know about this. While strengths change ever year, I don't think characters get weaker due to hype dying off. It's moreso due to their games getting old. And Halo 3 will obviously still be heavily played the next couple years.

Assuming we get another regular character battle, I can see MC being stronger next year than he was in any previous year. It isn't just this format that let him dominate Yuna, X-Box hate overall has died down. It seems this website's users have finally hit puberty with how Pikachu and MC are doing this year.

So when people say Mudkip winning is proof of this site's stupidity and immaturity it's fine, but as soon as I say the whole Pikachu/X-Box hate was a product of complete asshattery, it's a bad thing?

Someone makes a topic on a Korean Starcraft board with say 5000 users at any given time, 800 of them vote at once then the rest trickle in through the night, that's a perfectly logical explanation.

A lot more reasonable? Take away 4K votes, and Ganon has 31.78% to Luigi's 29.40%. That's about the best split you can imagine for Yuna. Other than that, Yuna did great in het round 1 match, doubling Vercetti. If Ryu can beat Bowser thanks to a minimal Shadow leech, how is Yuna pushed aside as having a small upset potential? If anything, I'd consider her the favourite.
