Well, Sephiroth sure exceeded my
expectations, at least. In retrospect, it was probably a dumb idea to
give Fox just as much against Sephiroth, Wario and Meta-Knight as he
got against Cloud alone. But I digress. paraboxx' Worthless Writeups: Mario / Big Boss / Magus / Phoenix Mario - When I first heard about these contests I figured Mario was a lock for #1. Heh...how wrong I was. Mario still has his impressive moments, however, and I expect this round to be one of them. Big Boss - All the talk about this match lately centers on Big Boss and his picture. Meanwhile, I'm still impressed with his score in Round 1. The question is, did Pac-Man's presence make Big Boss look better - or did it just make Mario look worse? Magus - Even as a Magus fan, I can recognize trouble for him here. The low score last round, the loss to Knuckles in '05, the general Chrono Trigger decline...things are looking grim. Add in the wild-card status of Big Boss and I can see why people are jumping ship. Phoenix - Phoenix's first-hour devotion baffles me. I figured if any joke character would get that sort of treatment, it would be CATS. But whatever. At least it's fun to watch. After that first hour, though, I don't expect anything but last place from a guy who lost to Gordon Freeman. Analysis: Like a few others, I'm trying to come up with a reason to predict a Magus victory and failing. Even if Big Boss' pic does absolutely nothing, the writing is on the wall: MGS characters are succeeding where lower-tier Square characters are failing. There's at least more hope for an upset from Magus than Meta Knight...but not enough for me to call it. As for Mario, I wouldn't be surprised if he broke 50% against these guys, Phoenix LFF and all. Prediction - Mario 48%, Big Boss 20%, Magus 18%, Phoenix 14% |

I can't help the feeling that Big Boss is going to perform sooooo well.
Probably since I haven't played an MGS game. But, I looked at the
picture and said, wow, Snake's fighting Mario early this contest,until

Heroic Cutthroat Bill more like Who's Cutthroat Bill? *checks Google* Ah, Monkey Island. I've always heard great things about Monkey Island but I've never played it. I did play a bunch of adventure games as a kid, but never that one. But for people to still love it after all these years shows how good it must have been. Which supports my theory that I just made up of George Lucas being in some way responsible for half the best things in the world :) oh, and I can't wait to see Mario come daytime. Chrono Trigger, Metal Gear Solid and Phoenix Wright -- aww yeah. Heh, I didn't even think of that. I was just looking at the leaderboard, and I think right there is the
best evidence that the Board has been getting absolutely killed this
round. There's several Cloud picks, a Mario pick and a Mega Man pick TuRtLe ~~~ 119/160 in the contest. Next pick: Sephiroth > Fax BlAcK TuRtLe. The cream of Zero fanboyism |

I was just looking at the leaderboard, and I think right there is
the best evidence that the Board has been getting absolutely killed
this round. There's several Cloud picks, a Mario pick and a Mega Man
pick The 1st round is largely skill. Due to the scoring system weighting later round matches so heavily, it becomes much more of a luck thing later, and thus a numbers game to a large extent. There's a lot more non-board 8 brackets than board 8 brackets. Though board 8 should always be represented well there. Haha. I haven't played Monkey Island either -- but dear god the size of that belt does it for me! Really? You've never played the game but love its characters? | And to be fair, you don't have to have played the
Monkey Island games to love them or the characters. They're extremely
humorous adventure games, they do the job all on their own even if

say...it's got a great epic feel to it. I want the rest of the game to
build from here...and if it does like people make it sound like, then I
