Match XXXVIII: Mario vs Big Boss vs Magus vs Phoenix Wright Past Matches Round 1 Mario - 57.91% Big Boss - 23.00% Pac-Man - 10.11% Wander - 8.99% Magus - 30.87% Phoenix Wright - 23.96% Bomberman - 23.90% Crash Bandicoot - 21.26% Analysis Last round we had Mario SFF Pac-Man into the ground letting Big Boss take second though with his percent he may have not needed Mario’s help. Magus did one of his worst performances ever by letting the Phoenix/Bomberman/Crash trio get so close to him. With that performance last round Magus isn’t as huge as a favorite to take second. Phoenix Wright started ahead of Magus and ended by just barely beating Bomberman; I wonder how long he’ll keep second in this match. Mario will take first in this poll. After taking a year off he came back and was able to get the third highest percent of the contest. Mario is in the stacked half of the bracket and things already look bad for him next round, but against two low mid-carders and a has-been he shouldn’t have a problem destroying everyone in the poll. Before the contest Magus was pretty much a lock to make it to the third round, but with his performance tied along with Big Boss’ performance his ability to make it to the next round has been questioned. Letting Phoenix do so well on you isn’t the best thing to happen to you even if he has had a new game since last contest. I still think he’ll take second, but I’m just not as confident as I was at the beginning of the contest. Big Boss’ performance last round was one of the most impressive performances of the round. Even if there was a little fanbase overlap between Mario/Pac-Man it isn’t anywhere near the amount Big Boss overperformed by. The factor everyone is talking about in this match is the fact that his picture is the MGS3 picture and if you haven’t seen it yet Big Boss now look a lot like Solid Snake. Some people don’t think that the picture factor exists, but all you have to do is look at Samus/Tifa to find out that something went wrong while she was in her Zero Suit form. However there is one thing that is keeping me from seeing Big Boss overperform and that is Solid Snake is universally known in the gaming community. Unlike characters like Samus where you can play the whole game thinking that her name is Metroid and that she is a guy Solid Snake is known and when people look at the options and don’t see Solid Snake (or anything related for that matter) they’ll know that person isn’t Solid Snake. It would be like putting a picture of Mario and have the option say Wario or Luigi sure they may get some extra votes, but don’t expect it to give him anymore than a few hundred votes. Phoenix Wright will get last, but he’ll probably start off in second for a while. Phoenix’s vote pattern starts off really strong and he slowly bleeds percent until the end of the match. Last round he managed to lead against Magus for about 30 minutes so how long will he do it this round? Mario takes first and Magus takes second. Big Boss has a good chance at taking the upset, but he’ll probably need to take the lead or at least be close to it for me to believe that he could pull off the runner-up. | I'm expecting Mario to gravely disappoint this
round. He's up against three characters which should all have pretty
dedicated fanbases (somehow not even Magus strikes me as too casual)
and no one he can really kill like he did Pac-Man. I don't even think
