Master Moltar > Link with 62.64% --- Samus 2K5 is horribly underrated, and is indirectly stronger than Mario. KHF sucks and never existed either, much like my package. |

I haven't heard any other theories on why
Cloud/Seph/Auron/Squall/Vincent/Tifa have impressed this year while
every other FF character fails. Those 6 are the ONLY FF characters
worth talking about nowadays Okay, okay, but seriously, how many other FF characters were there worth talking about in the first place? Yuna is about it. Vincent isn't nearly as strong as Sephiroth, and Zelda/Bidoof wouldn't
drain Link as much as Mario. Going by the 2005 Cloud/Seph proportion on
Link, and Cloud's 46% on Link last year, Seph would get roughly 44% on
Link.......Mario could drain enough for Seph to win that, if Crono
affects them equally (and I'd think Crono has closer fanbase overlap
with Link than Sephiroth- they share the SNES fanbase, and there was a
gigantic day/night swing in FFVII/CT compared to the nearly equal

In his first round match at this time, he had only 46.67% and ended

Seph seemed to be much the same in the day as he was during the rest of
the match at a glance - engaged in a constant steady rise in percentage
all the way through. I wouldn't downplay Meta Knight and Peach's day votes either with that, though CATS obviously gave him a horrid day character to pull from... assuming anyone can 'pull' from CATS <.< --- Samus 2K5 is horribly underrated, and is indirectly stronger than Mario. KHF sucks and never existed either, much like my package. |

I think CATS definitely hurt Seph at the start which is why Seph improved so much by the end of the day. Seph can still improve throughout but I don't see him gaining 10% again. --- SC2k7: 88/128, tied for 1364th Today's Pick: Mega Man > Knux (whoops) |

Does it really matter which match a character does well in? Would
people really be saying Sephiroth was a disappointment if this match
was in the first round and the previous match was in the second round,
and he did worse against "weaker" competition? We all know that it's CATS and LFF at work here, people. This is the same Sephiroth we saw in the first round. --- Rapid analysis, accurate judgment, and superb powers of concentration. That is all we need. |

If you're taking SPF into account ideally your finalists are Samus,
Link, Vivi, and Master Chief. They have nothing to fear from sunburn...

| Well, dang... I wasn't expecting Sephiroth to
potentially beat his Round 1 percentage. I was expecting Fox to do a
little more damage, being clearly above Peach and MK. Not that I'd say
it's necessary an incredible feat... he's just beating three Nintendo
characters. This is the worst match of the contest. It should be... Wario - 45%; Meta Knight; 30%; Fox - 15%; Sephiroth - 10%. :[ --- "Ah, a party! We haven't had one of those. It could be fun! So...what is a party?" "Well, you drink punch and eat CAKE! ...I think." |

I also take issue with the idea that this performance doesn't 'mean'
anything. This contest is the first time that we were able to see Sephy
in this format without being drained by Cloud. When we saw Sephiroth
last round the performance was extremely disappointing, to the point
where the speculation was that him being a chump in this format was
perhaps more than Cloud draining him last year. Yes, this is still the
same Sephiroth from last round - but the performance seems a lot more
forgivable and more the fault of CATS than anything else looking at
this. Not that it means a whole lot in the context of how he's going to do THIS contest - oh wow, Seph's gonna beat Mario !! - but it's good for getting one of the few reads on Sephy that we can nowadays, and if this format becomes the standard... (which I would detest on Slow-like levels, but what can ya do!?) --- Samus 2K5 is horribly underrated, and is indirectly stronger than Mario.
