Both Mario characters (Luigi/Bowser/Yoshi more than Mario) and Sonic
characters tend to have a stronger morning than afterschool vote.
Conversely, XBox characters (Marcus/HK/MC) tend to have not much of a
morning vote but an extremely good afterschool vote. --- Mustache...and green... www.rit.edu/~zmb0386/Brawl.jpg |

Hey n00b, could you explain how to use RPGuy's hourly updater? --- Rapid analysis, accurate judgment, and superb powers of concentration. That is all we need. |
The n00b Avenger | Posted 10/4/2007 12:43:21 PM | message detail |
It's pretty easy. You just copy from creativename's poll updater(time
and all), go to the votes tab, and paste it into the appropriate row in
column A. Well, finding the appropriate row might be tricky >_>
Generally it starts on row 294 so just paste in a spot that looks right
and if the 12:00 time lands on row 294, you're in business. If not,
adjust up or down to get it. I think it already comes with time
markings so you can just use that as a rough idea. It's not 100% though
since the updater times get wonky. Usually though it's only off by like
1 or 2 updates if it's off at all --- This story is not an end yet. Because only you are in the infinity loop. |

I'd say that over 20% on Sephiroth is better than 30% on Kirby.
Slightly. Thrall should be around there. And don't try to tell me that

swirIdude | Posted 10/4/2007 3:00:14 PM | message detail |
ROUND 1 WINNERS AND LOSERS Winners STAR OF THE ROUND: Master Chief - The Chief came in as the biggest wild card of the contest. The 4-man matches and the imminent release of Halo 3 gave him his best chance yet of doing serious damage. Not everyone was so sure, and they expected Yuna to take the match, but the Chief gave Yuna a big whooping, and the poor summoner couldn’t respond. Next round, we’ll see him in action WITH Halo 3. Will MC finish the fight? Scorpion - It remains to be seen how much of Scorpion’s big win over Midna was Midna’s failures, but it was still a big win for Scorpion, his best moment since the Elite Eight run of 2002. Cloud Strife - Cloud celebrated his return to the main bracket with a bang, scoring 61% on the likes of Jill Valentine and Revolver Ocelot, neither of which are bottom-level fodder. It is unclear whether this is good enough to stop Link, but he didn’t hurt himself any. Revolver Ocelot - Speaking of Ocelot, he’s the winner of the hotly debated Jill/Ocelot duel, and has a great chance of making Round 3. Mewtwo - Faced with insurmountable odds of advancing, Mewtwo took the fight right to Bowser and Ryu, coming within a few percent of knocking off Bowser in an amazing upset. Sure, Bowser had Mewtwo and Toad weakening him, but Mewtwo has proved in this effort that he’s no slouch. Meta-Knight - Princess Peach was the favorite to advance, and even CATS was being considered, but it was Meta-Knight who stole the show and rode Sephiroth’s coattails to the second round. Fox McCloud - In a Nintendo heavy duel, Wario/Fox was considered a toss up, but Fox came out and dominated the farting plumber all day long. That strength is giving him good odds to move to Round 3. Big Boss - He did not wither away against Mario, putting up a respectable 23%, easily defeating Pac-Man, who some thought could challenge him. Phoenix Wright - Lead his match for 25+ minutes, and survived an epic struggle with Bomberman to advance. Turnabout is fair play, after all. Link - Fodder or not, there’s something to be said when Link takes 70% of the vote in a 4-man poll. That message is “Don’t mess with me, Cloud Strife!” Bidoof - I hate to admit it, but nearing 16% in a poll with Link and taking out two opponent is a good show for the little beaver. Never underestimate the power of Derp. Mudkip - He may have been entered as a joke character, but Mudkip proved to be no joke in his match, picking up 27% from “mudkipz” and Pokemon fans alike. Not that Pit and Tingle are the mightiest of competition, but one had SSBB support, and the other had the Zelda name. Liquid Snake - The favorite pick in the Guru was Alucard > Ness, leaving Liquid to sit home. But this arm would not allow such injustice, and Liquid Snake took his match outright, by a scant 3 votes, giving us the closest match in contest history, and possibly throwing a wrench into Master Chief’s plans for domination. |
swirIdude | Posted 10/4/2007 3:00:28 PM | message detail |
Ada Wong - She was written off by the vast majority of the
board, who gave all their support to Balthier. But Ada was the one on
top in this match, utterly destroying the leaderboard in the process. Pikachu - The little rat was dormant for 4 years, but when he returned, he shocked us all by taking first in his match. The success of Mudkip, Bidoof, and Mewtwo foreshadowed this, but before the contest, Tidus was the overwhelming favorite. The Blitzballer just couldn’t take the Thunder. Leon Kennedy - What first round toss-up? Leon made short work of Vivi in this matchup. Whatever bizarre things may happen between Vivi, Tidus, and Pikachu, Leon looks to be flying high. L-Block - “It’s just an inanimate object!” Well it’s not just any object, it’s the L-Block! And with 30% of the vote and a Round 2 ticket punched, the block is set to turn his strong opening performance into a possible Round 3 result. L-Block for 2007? Ryu Hayabusa - Having Riku and Roxas leeching each other was surely going to be a boon for Ryu Hayabusa. But it turns out he may not have needed it, as he beat both Riku and Roxas combined! The massive win from the ninja opens up the doors for a long run. Duke Nukem - He came here to kick ass and chew bubblegum, not be left out in the Guru majority pick. So he made them all pay by not only advancing, but taking first place, leaving Gordon and Ike to cry at his feet. Sub-Zero - Many saw the upset win over Master Chief as a fluke due to the “Chief is an enigma” factor, but performing well against Sonic has quieted that talk. Sub caps off a second strong performance for Mortal Kombat, which is looking to make its mark this year. Losers TURD OF THE ROUND: Balthier Bunansa - Final Fantasy. Best FFXII character. Fan-favorite. Surely NOTHING could stop Balthier from an easy win against the likes of Ada, Frank and Jade…whoops. Balthier took his Final Fantasy lineage and proceeded to lose to a character that was only worth 20% on Samus last year. Many people even took him to Round 3, as Amaterasu/Mac/Matt didn’t seem like much of a threat. Needless to say, this one hurt badly. Knuckles the Echidna - Before the contest began, Knuckles was supposed to compete with Yoshi, and use his straight to advance into Round 3 while Yoshi got SFF’d by Megaman. But in the match, Knuckles got crushed by Yoshi, and nearly missed advancing into the next round. In fact, if Vaan hadn’t held back Rikku, we might be looking at the biggest bust of the contest. Vaan - Good lord Vaan, you couldn’t even get 10% here. So much for being the main character of a Final Fantasy. Come on now, even Tidus gets votes! Your only accomplishment was possibly keeping Rikku out of Round 2. Diablo - From the Final Four of the villain’s contest to splitting votes and losing to Arthas. It was a painful fall from grace for Diablo. Midna - It was calculated that if Midna’s strength was double that of Tingle’s 2006 stat, she could win her match easily. But it turns out that Midna wasn’t that strong, and she was blasted by Scorpion and nearly let Kratos Aurion take her over. The logic that Zelda could go no wrong was shot, and Midna limps into Round 2 like a wounded animal. |
swirIdude | Posted 10/4/2007 3:01:15 PM | message detail |
Zelos Wilder - It was easy to say that Zelos wouldn’t match the
strength of Kratos or Lloyd, but who would’ve thought that Zelos, the
lady killer, would fall to his knees when against TOM NOOK? If you lose
to Tom Nook, you’re an embarrassment. Sorry, Tom, but it’s true. Chris Redfield - Looks like only RE4 characters got a boost, as Chris couldn’t even stand up to the might of Pyramid Head. PH is a fearsome sight, but not in a poll! This write-up has now gotten me amped up for a Tom Nook vs. Pyramid Head showdown. Peach - “Oh, did I win?” Nope. Despite disapproval from the stats topic, you were the most likely choice to head to the second round, but you went and got your dress dirty, and Meta-Knight stole your ticket, leaving you all alone with CATS. Bad grammar is the worst torture ever. Pac-Man - Pac-Man got support for Round 2 going with his upset win over Revolver Ocelot, but there was no doubt that Mario sucked his support dry. Still, it’s pretty bad to do so much worse than Big Boss, and even let Wander have a shot at you. Magus - Now it was widely accepted that Magus didn’t have the strength that 2003 suggested, but he should still have been strong enough to easily take Bomberman, Crash, and Phoenix. Instead, he let Phoenix hold the lead for the first half hour and finished with only 30%. How far can this guy fall? Agent J, Miles Edgeworth - You two looked bad in your loss to Bidoof, and you should feel bad! It’s BIDOOF for Pete’s sake! Zelda - Her strong showing against Samus suggested that she could fight evenly with Vincent, but the princess of Hyrule was left in the dust as Vincent cruised to an easy win. And it only gets worse from here; she gets to face the mighty Link next. Raiden - Surely Raiden was worth more than being Solid Snake’s target practice. But as it turned out, he was Sam Fisher’s equal. Even with the MGS4 pic, Raiden came close to missing out on the second round. Yuna - We all know that this is the year of Master Chief and his fight finishing, but surely you could have competed in this match, right Yuna? Right? Oh, you can’t? My apologies. I thought your 2006 showing meant you could put a dent in the Chief’s armor. Tidus - In 2003, he was part of the esteemed Tidus/Ganon/Magus trio that sat in the upper echelon of the contest. Now he’s Pikachu’s whipping boy. Magus’s fall was bad enough; Tidus’s performance here was downright embarrassing for a match favorite. Nathan Hale - Yeah, we all expected him to bomb, but it’s still worth noting that he barely got over 10,000 votes in the match AND got doubled by Laharl. Vyse - Skies of Arcadia has fans? Nope, just a rumor. Being a pirate wasn’t enough for Vyse this year, as he did so poorly that Rayman nearly beat him. This result makes Vyse’s strong performance on DK in 2003 more puzzling. Haseo - Bidoof doesn’t recognize Haseo, and frankly, neither do most of the voters. Bad loss. Sonic the Hedgehog - So let me get this straight: You’re a Noble Niner, and you’re coming off a big win over Crono. So your encore performance is to surrender mass percentage to Sub-Zero? That isn’t going to fly in the later rounds, that Squall guy is just waiting for a shot at you. --- http://img255.imageshack.us/img255/2636/ivotedphoenixyi0.png Squall > Sora is a lock. ~Lady Ashe |
