He's a lock to get to the divisional finals here. Predictions: There were some rumblings of an Akuma upset due to Squall/Aeris SFF and Aeris turding it up last year, but I can't see it happening. First of all, Akuma wasn't in the only Street Fighter game to get widespread mainstream exposure, Street Fighter 2. Some are expecting him to be around Bison/Chun-Li's level, but I can't see him being anything but a low midcarder or even high fodder. I'd consider Geno/Akuma interesting if Geno wasn't guarenteed to get SFF'd to the ground. I really hope Akuma kicks Aeris' ass. I just want some fresh blood
to do good. Sure we've seen some returners do good this tournament, but
we haven't had a really good new contestant do too great. Marcus did
nice I guess, but Midna and Balthier were turds. Oh yeah I guess
L-Block, Mudkip, and Bidoof count as new blood too, but there more or
less kickass joke contestants. Mewtwo and Meta Knight did pretty damn good. --- Demyx is better than Axel. I don't like Haley Scarnato |

BOLD PREDICTION: Akuma completely flops and winds up being closer to Geno than Aeris by a significant margin. I played Street Fighter 2 like crazy back in the early-mid 90's, but I had no idea who Akuma was until this contest. I'm sure that rings true for a lot of people as well. For Akuma to advance here, he'd have to be at Bison/Chun-Li's level, and I can't see that happening at all. The only other Street Fighter character that hasn't been in yet that would be worth a damn is Guile, and maybe Cammy. TuRtLe ~~~ 83/108 in the contest. Next pick: Ryu H > Riku BlAcK TuRtLe.
