Even then, it's the principle of the matter. I've been lurking for it so I don't miss anything, but otherwise #500 ain't cool to me.

I wonder how many people realized what L-Block was when they saw it in the bracket...I mean, Tetris couldn't mention its name much more than Wander in SotC and L-Block isn't actually a character, so I could see LOTS of people ignoring it. That said, I think nearly anybody who ran their mouse over their names to see who came from what will take L-Block for second behind Kirby (which works given their order in the match).

I'm thinking that the best way to judge who's doing what here is by looking at Laharl. Kirby's still doubling up Laharl with ease -- this is all L-Block. if Laharl was in the 20s somewhere, I'd say Kirby is just pathetic.

I think by "bombing", though, we mean that there's now a possibility Kirby loses in round 2 thanks to DK/Marth being in the poll with him. that's crazy, and ruins a ton of brackets since Kirby's the favourite to take second behind Snake in this division.

This is an amazing performance, no doubt, but I'd still be a bit surprised if Kirby doesn't pull it out in the next round. Simply being a joke character doesn't immune L-Block from his fanbase hightailing him in the face of more appealing competition.

Or maybe it does. That would kick a lot more ass, actually. **** logic. L-Block with 35% next round.

Ha, that got modded in under three minutes? Ouch.

I don't think this is necessarily bad of Kirby though. It makes me feel better about Kratos > Kirby and worse about Solid > Kirby...but nothing's in stone right now because this is almost certainly L-Block impressing more than anything else.

Eh, this is still far from impressive for Kirby. The only reason I have him taking second to Snake is that all the people in that poll except Kirby share a fanbase, so Kirby could thrive...but Kirby isn't really showing that he does particularly well in these polls.

I don't think Kirby's doing terrible here. The only reason people were overshooting him was because we all though L-Block would be ass. Well, maybe not quite to that extent, but still. I think Kirby will have well over 40% when all is said and done.

That being said why the hell is Hale over 6%.

But I could easily see Kratos taking 1st next round due to DK/Marth leeching off Kirby, and then Kirby taking 2nd behind Snake the next round anyway.

Actually that's what I consider the most likely scenario right now, thought it's very up in the air.

It's great how so much of the next couple rounds is already so unpredictable and debatable :)

I envision most of those humanoid badass characters (Dante, Kratos, Leon) underperforming against Snake. I suppose Chief might do pretty well because of the fanatical Xbox following, but putting those guys against Snake almost seems like putting washed up mascots against Mario.

Of course, Ryu did hold his own very well in 2003, but that's one match I'd love to see run again.

Amazing that one of these Neo-Tanners actually lived up to the potential.

There isn't even any possibility of shady-SFF here, like with Snake/Tanner (I doubt there was any there, but who knows). Nathan Hale is just beyond comically weak. He's, like, tragicomically weak.

That was already the consensus.

This match makes Kratos > L-Block seem like the likely course, though, and possibly Snake > L-Block in the round after that.

What? Well, that's what I was basing it on, yes. Is that a problem? >_<

Well I actually only checked PW and Bidoof because they were the only ones that came to mind with a good 1st hour performance and since L-block beat PW I just assumed he beat the rest too. And even with 4chan support Bidoof only outdid L-Block by like, .4%

Oh I didn't realize that. What's the numbers then? L-Block started higher so proportionally, it might still not have dropped off as much.

beating out Spiderman 3, though comparing the two medias may be controversial. However, the numbers aren't -- Halo 3 killed.

It shouldn't be, because money is money, and most big movies make more than most big games. Though game first day's can be much more frontloaded compared to movie first days (higher %age of total sales) - not on average (they probably aren't on average), but for the most frontloaded games as opposed to the most frontloaded movies. But Halo 3 made more first day than Spider-Man 3 did opening weekend (and SM3's $150 opening weekend was just sick huge).

The other thing is that the number for Spider-Man 3 is domestic only. Was the Halo launch domestic (US+Canada) or worldwide?

Such comparisons aren't ones you want to make normally, because the markets are different, but this is very impressive for Halo.

Also, you can bet your ass that this is gaining a lot of attention from Hollywood and entertainment company execs (many of whom probably had no idea how much money there was in gaming until they heard this).

5x5 blocks need to make the contest now, and it'd have a day-vote like KH to boot.

Haha. This match is golden. Sad to see Hale performing so badly though. I'm one of the very few people here that actually like the character =p

Anyway; L-block is looking good to go far here, though I still think he'll crumble into the eyes of stronger competition. Kratos comes first next round, with Kirby (even with DK) coming in second. I think L-block will look a lot less impressive next round.

The division final has Snake/Riku/Kratos/Kirby then. Snake > Kirby is a no-brainer. I'd sooner expect Kirby > Snake than Snake > someone else. That is unless L-block makes it, of course. Great stuff, and great for my bracket ^^
