Here's a theory. Most gradeschool kids live by their schools and walk home, thus are home earlier than most high school kids. That's what the "pre-ASV" is

Go ahead. Chances are you'll be enjoying that all to yourself.

And the joke account line is not that, it's because you use the term "SFF" as if you know what it means. It means "Same Fanbase Factor". How could a Pokemon and the hero of Star Fox, both Nintendo series, not share any overlap?

1. Metroid didn't SFF Pokemon
2. Bowser didn't SFF Mewtwo
3. Link didn't SFF Bidoof

Pokemon does not get SFFed, espeically by third-rate series like Star Fox

I think Bowser's fourpack was enough evidence that Pokemon is very much considered a Nintendo franchise. Unless you think Ryu is at Link's level.

Ryu > Cloud confirmed!

Link didn't "SFF" Bidoof because Bidoof had a popular rally and support as the best "Not Link" option.

Bowser didn't SFF Mewtwo in the traditional Link/Ganon sense, but the two clearly split a fanbase, much like Kirby/Bowser.

Metroid didn't SFF Pokemon because Metroid can't SFF anything.

OK, I don't want to say anything here, but wouldn't Pikachu be more likely to SFF Fox?

His series is more popular, he's the mascot, it rSFF'd METROID, and Pika was in the picture...

I have Isaac in second, but I don't think it's at all likely. It's a possible sexy upset pick.

However, we can all agree:

Serge is coming last.

Hay guys there is no way that two Nintendo characters/series could ever both be liked by a voter, forcing him/her to choose one.

And we know why Bidoof wasn't run into the ground, Edgeworth/Agent J suck and 4chan stuffed for him.

As for Mewtwo, him and Toad's presence leeched Bowser's votes and brought him into 2nd.

And you have no way to prove Pokemon/Metroid wasn't SFF. Just because it's not Link vs Ganon doesn't mean it's not SFF. And as said earlier, two Nintendo series...you don't think someone will like both and have to choose? (Hey I had to do that!)

almost anything resists Metroid.

and honestly, yes Pokemon is more popular, but you have to consider that it's Pikachu. Pikachu itself isn't as liked as Fox directly OR indirectly. you HONESTLY think Pikachu would get 45% in that poll? he wouldn't even get more than what Falcon got, probably.

Zero avoided SFF on Mega Man. In SFF matches, perference usually comes down to character design/likability. Chrono/Vincent an obvious SFF match, going by the low votals, but both have popular characters designs thus the split was pretty even.

As for Link/Ganon and Mario/Bowser, that was probably a case of the hero > the villain, though that doesn't explain why Sephiroth can hang with Cloud.

Though this brings up an oddity with Mega Man/Yoshi. Yoshi is usually on the positive end of SFF due to his character design. Maybe that match was more about picture advantage than anything else. Mega Man seems to always overperform when he's blasting the crap out of something.

I would not call a large SFF advantage entirely due to "OMFG HE'S SHOOTING HIS FOE I MUST VOTE". It's probably because he gets the support of the Nintendo fanbase for starting on the NES, as well as having plenty of GBA/DS games.

In the second half of the hour during the after school vote, Lloyd is stalling.

It has everything to do with the fact that FFVII has a story. Bowser and Ganon have generally just kidnapped the princess (though Ganon is starting to do something else, like look for the Triforce)

I think my little theory up the page a bit might explain some of these wonky ASV's we've seen.

You'd expect HK to be more popular with the highschool kids, but Jak and Lloyd to be more popular with the elementary kids. If so, expect Lloyd to drop between 4-4:30 and stall again leading up to 5:00

Elementary kids get out later than high school kids, at least where I'm from. If I had to pick, though, I'd say that it's the people in high school who go on to gamefaqs first thing when they get home, who would probably vote similarly to people who stay up for the start of the poll.

You can validly argue that patterns change at certain times in the asv.

Trying to argue it has to due with elementary/high school differences in when they get out makes no sense at all though.

Unless you actually think they get out at the same time everywhere around the continent or something.
