yeah, Ness is like 22% for me, but I treat him differently. I treat him.. kind of like Pac-Man, actually. I'd take pretty much anything Nintendo over him, and anyone with a halfway-dedicated fanbase.

Auron couldn't SFF him...and how many characters are there with more dedicated fanbases than Auron?

I don't understand what you're trying to say. Why would Auron be able to SFF Ness...? Did you mean someone else?

Well we've seen Ness against Nintendo twice. Bowser completely destroyed him in 2k3 but I think that was just a 2k3 thing because Ness managed to get 17% on Mario on Steroids. That is pretty respectable for a character who many say is powerful only because of Smash Bros. Mario could have SFF'd him far worse.

I don't get where all this Ness doubting is coming from. He has his core fanbase of Earthbound fanboys and the wide recognizability of a decent Smash character. Of course he'll fold under most Nintendo, but I think he'll do well for himself in that fourpack from hell.

Huh, when is Auron a Nintendo character. He never says characters with dedicated fanbases will definitely SFF Ness.

I really don't think that's a good spot for him pre-boost. I'd put him more at 20%ish on Link. Higher with the boost, but still not at 25%. I think that's where Scorpion is, and I'm pretty confident (and was before the contest) he'd dispatch Ness without sweating it.

If he was 20ish on Link, so was Scorp in 2k3...and that's a rather unexplained drop for him from the year prior. Not to mention saying fairly poor things about pre-KHII Auron. I don't think Jak and CJ were particularly strong, but they weren't fodder, either. 20% on BL is looking at characters like Nukem, Vyse, Kain...That's not Ness' level, regardless of how bad he did against Bowser and Mario. That's probably not Jak or CJ level either (at in their respective years, when they were new and exciting).

overperform? no, I just wouldn't take him to win there. this goes for Peach, Wario, any of those guys as well. I don't believe Ness is the best guy to draw comparisons from.

well, 24% is probably going to be more like 20% come the end of the match. maybe a little bit more, but Mario's going to be pushing for 60% here.

It is just the same scenario as PH. PH only scored 16% against Bowser and yet he managed to score the same percentage against Auron/Knuckles/Chris.

Maybe their dedicated fanbase does help in this format.
