The father of video games, an icon of arcade gaming and probably the most recognizable character ever, and he can't seem to do a thing in these contests. Wander The main character from Shadow of the Colossus makes his contest debut, and is guarenteed to get the stuffing kicked out of him. SotC is a relatively cult game as is, throw in the fact that they never even say Wander's name in the game, coupled with a match pic lacking his horse Agro, Wander might have a shot at being the weakest non-joke entrant in the field. Predictions: At first glance, you would think Pac-Man has second place in the bag. He beat Revolver Ocelot in 2k5, and Big Boss is likely a good bit weaker than Ocelot. But what you have to take into account, is the fact that Pac-Man seems to fall apart completely when placed against iconic characters. Look at his matches with Luigi and Yoshi where he got the stuffing kicked out of him. Pac-Man's strength comes from his recognizability. It is how he beat Ocelot. But in this match, he's up against the second most recognizable video game icon, and one that's a great deal stronger than him. At first I thought Pac would be able to squeak by, but after seeing Ocelot beat out Jill, I have to wonder if MGS side characters have had a boost since 2005. Certainly Snake appearing in Smash has generated at least some interest in his series, and that couldn't possibly hurt the MGS side characters. As for percentages, Cloud broke 60% on a likely stronger 4-pack, so Mario should be in that ballpark. Wander will be under 10% more than likely, leaving Pac and Big Boss to fight over the remaining 30%. TuRtLe's Prediction: Mario 59%, Pac-Man 15%, Big Boss 16%, Wander 10% TuRtLe's Bracket: Mario > Pac-Man TuRtLe's Vote: Pac-Man (yeah, I have to vote with my bracket here) TuRtLe ~~~ 30/36 in the contest. There was a Mewtwo vs. Fox discussion earlier here, and I was stunned to see people pick Fox. Fox isdominating here, but let's not get carried away. I would pick Mewtwo over Fox without thinking twice. Fox is benefitting from SFF here, whereas Mewtwo got hurt by it. He's a lot closer to Ryu than that match implied. I'd say he's somewhat close to Yoshi level. After all, he did only less than 4 points worse than Bowser; Bowser was hurt worse by Toad, but it's not like Mewtwo would be way below Bowser in strength. I have zero confidence in Ness in this format. He may be Nintendo, but that means nothing when it comes to being a favorite
of people's in a such a varied fourpack (Square/CV/MGS/Nintendo). The
hardcore fans of Ness are mostly in the Earthbound crowd, and I don't
