You people need to stop this PSX "SFF" stuff! It's nonsense! You've got characters from four of the most popular series on GameFAQs. The overlap is going to be there for ALL of them. Ness isn't at a supreme advantage here.

...

By your argument, every match has noticeable SFF. Why even make a point of calling it that at that point.

The overlap will be 3 PS1 characters, and the sole Nintendo character. Clearly Ness has the most independent fanbase of the four, and should benefit from that. And personally, I think Alucard's base strength, coupled with the whole SOTN on XBLA factor should help him advance with Ness.

Anybody making an argument for Zidane doesn't realize that FF9 was really hated by the mainstream, as for Liquid, he wouldn't have as much reason to "boost" as Ocelot and Big Boss potentially have. I feel confident in Ness and Alucard here.

Clearly Ness has the most independent fanbase of the four, and should benefit from that.

That's far from the case. Since most of his fanbase comes from SSBM, it's very casual, meaning Ness is actually at a disadvantage here since he lacks a hardcore following. He does have the Earthbound fanbase, but as much as I love the game, it's pathetically small compared to Castlevania and MGS to the extent that it's a virtual nonfactor here. Alucard and Liquid are both fan favorites from strong series on this site, meaning they do have strong devoted followings.

...and I have Alucard > Ness.

I picked HK-47 because for several reasons.

1. Lloyd? To advance you have to have fans. Lloyd is the guy who managed to barely beat WESKER. Zelos bombing only proves that ToS fans won't vote for a character just because.
2. Jak is a threat, but he hasn't had a proper game in 3 years, and was never very popular to begin with.
3. KOTOR fans, on the other hand, are absolutely crazy about HK-47. KOTOR being released a while ago hurts, but it helps that HK-47 placed higher than Jak and Lloyd in the X-stats.

So yeah, in my eyes HK-47 has a 50% chance of winning, Jak has 40%, and Lloyd has 10%. This is made even worse by the fact that a lot of people picked Lloyd.

My thoughts on the next match:

Phoenix got more votes against GF than his game had sold at the time. This was before his game ended up doubling in sales and JFA was released.

Bomberman hasn't been seen in a few years, and his only recent stuff is Bomberman Live (which is a plus), and...Act Zero. Yeah.

I can also see PW's fanbase being much more dedicated.

Had to go with Phoenix.

2. Jak is a threat, but he hasn't had a proper game in 3 years, and was never very popular to begin with.

When's the last time HK-47 had a game? Seriously, I'm asking. I didn't think he'd had one in the last two years. And when you adjust for Auron/Sephiroth SFF, you probably get Jak > HK-47 in the stats, for what it's worth.

And I've got Bomberman advancing past Phoenix Wright tomorrow because I'm not convinced Magus is going to get a large percentage of the vote (though my analysis prediction will say otherwise...........), which would favor Bomberman. The more vote there is to go around, the less of a chance Phoenix Wright has. And I don't know why you're knocking Bomberman Live. You'd figure it'd have to at least be as popular as any Phoenix Wright game, though I'm only making presumptions here. If someone has official numbers, I'd like to know. Outside of Crash (whom most voters here seem to loathe), Bomberman is easily the most casual-friendly character in that match.

And, I know it probably doesn't really make a difference in the end, but that "What October release...?" poll the day before the contest started doesn't tell me much of Phoenix Wright's, uhhh..."hardcore" fanbase, or his fanbase, period.
