Considering that Link is a good deal above Cloud, and we've seen that
he can absolutely demolish Ganon, I'd say it would be close, but Link

In all seriousness, I could see Cloud > Samus > Ryu > Mega Man

I'm certainly not counting on it...but since I've got Bowser >
Mewtwo in my bracket, I'll only be getting one point unless Bowser
swings back hardcore over Ryu or drops almost as hardcore under Mewtwo.
Since the Mewtwo one is closer and it would cause so much more hell in

Well, Ryu didn't lose by too much head to
head, and possible Samus SFF or just plain having a more dedicated
fanbase. It's a stretch for Ryu to even make it that far, but if he

Bowser is firmly supporting the notion of his lack of a solid fanbase.
I can definitely see Ryu moving on next round even if he falls below
38% here, simply because of how poorly he's doing right now. We knew

Yeah. Confirmed that Bowser's fans are just Mario fans going "hmm
Bowser, he's from Mario vote for him" in the polls until he's against a
character that's actually well liked. Yeah. S (flyhighnolie)Ballin, made some good matches in this contest, but there are some times that he seriously ****ed up. Mewtwo not being in a more favorable position is one of them, and Zolom being in Cloud's division is another. Oh well, as disappointing as this is, I have tomorrow to look forward to. I'm sure there's a bit of that in there. I've always wondered about
Bowser's status as a huge favorite of people -- he's no Yoshi or Luigi
within the Mario series; never has been -- but there's no doubt that
most of this is Mewtwo and Toad. You take those away and Bowser's got
an easy first place here, even without considering Ryu's terrible
morning vote. The possibility of him losing next round is definitely
there, but eh, I think Bowser without any other Nintendo characters

I honestly didn't think Mewtwo was going to be able to take enough of

I think this has more to do with Mewtwo being 4REAL than anything
Bowser is doing. Also keep in mind the actual match next round is Auron
vs. Shadow vs. Bowser vs. Ryu. Very little SFF there at all. Having a
shaky fanbase will not hurt Bowser next round. --- Donkey Kong Country 2 for next Games contest. This line reserved for next Guru winner. Unless it's me, therefore reserving plenty of noms for Dixie/DKC2. |

I've been saying it for awhile, maybe we can judge something with it
now...but Bowser is facing nobody but fan-favorites no matter where he
goes from some powerful series/game. Ryu = SF, Mewtwo = Pokemon, Toad =
Mario Kart (a stretch, granted), Auron = FFX, Shadow = Sonic (and got
his own game), Cloud = FF7, and either Ocelot (MGS3) or Fenix (GeoW,
and was G4's best new character with 51%). Outside of maybe SMRPG (and
I'd say Geno's got him beat there), I don't think Bowser can compete
with his own solid fan-favorite status within his series. This format
goes against characters like him, and this path of the bracket is
specifically against him. I'll wait until next round to say much more about this, but if Bowser doesn't do well against Ryu/Auron/Shadow when he could potentially beat any of them (though I'd take Auron over him), I'm pointing the blame on his fan-favoritism. --- PETITION: a "Contest Suggestions" board. Unlike Bowser, Luigi has been a pretty significant fan favorite in the
Mario series for a long time. Even if in some bizarre world Mudkip were
