You sure? I still wouldn't take Ocelot over Jill or Peach one-on-one, and yet that just may happen right here. This match is as good support as any.

And for all Zelos stunk it up, we never had a read on him. It's possible he might have looked even MORE pathetic in a one-on-one setting (a higher percentage sure, but you get what I'm saying).

If the "hardcore fanbase" theory was true, then Frog, Kefka etc. would have done MUCH better.

I think this theory has been convincingly derailed so far. Seriously...Frog alone almost wipes it out by himself. He'd benefit more than almost anyone else. And Kefka's like #2.

You need to make those columns narrower in the updater, it's ridiculously wide when we get 4 long names....

I'll mess with making the fonts smaller in a little bit.

I actually think this format helps "casual" characters more than so-called "hardcore" ones. I'm feeling mighty good about Master Chief lately for whatever reason, and am kinda wishing I had Kratos > Kirby.

I don't see how this setting's results would vary so much in a 1 on 1 scenario. When the only other competition is Square, which are likely to go 50/50 on Jill and Ocelot if they're taken out, then the remaining trends right now would still apply.

Ocelot is looking better and better.

Though I think Jill will be reaching her darkest point, her nadir in terms of percentage-gap between her and Ocelot, within the next hour or so.

Means nothing. Kirby is way different than his series and Meta Knight should follow.

But Kirby himself was SFFed by Luigi.

Or legitimately beaten, however you want to look at it.

How the hell is this format supposed to help "casual" characters? How is it supposed to help anyone? So far I've read so many crackpot theories about who this format is supposed to help that nearly every character that isn't getting blatantly SFFed is supposed to benefit for one reason or another.

Master Chief will benefit from the new format because it is sunny outside.

Yeah, she pulled in 16% versus Ocelot's 21% in the 1:00 update, and that's when we usually start setting in to the night vote. That's a major ouch.

I definitely think a hardcore fanbase is why Ocelot is winning at the moment. Plus, the MGS fans are a whole different story than ToS ones.

Kinda scary, since I actually predicted and hoped that a hardcore fanbase, along with the whole FF > MGS > RE chain, would put Ocelot over Jill.

TIME FOR ME TO RUB IT IN FACES LOLOLOL nah i'm kidding

Jill has REmake and all the other RE games that appeared on the Gamecube and Wii behind her. Ocelot has what, TTS?

There's only one other RE game on the cube that features Jill, 3. The rest don't have her. TTS and MGS4 hype might as well be equivalent to that, since the RE3 on cube is a rare find. Besides, she's always had those games.

This might be a Shadow/Sonic type situation. I don't see Meta Knight being fodder. And Peach would have trouble with anything that's not fodder.

I don't know if it's *as* comparable as Shadow/Sonic. Shadow was the co-lead of Sonic Adventure 2, whereas from what I understand Meta Knight is just a reoccurring boss.

And I'll just have to agree to disagree as to the degree of how cool looking Meta Knight is, although that's just a personal issue. >_>

When I talk about characters who have a fairly sizeable "hardcore" fanbase, I don't think of Zelos or Kefka. I don't think of characters whose fanbases are "more rabid" than others. I'm thinking of characters who have fairly distinct fanbases as compared to their opponents in a match (e.g. Master Chief against PlayStation-centric and Nintendo characters) in a poll, a fairly loyal fanbase, and a sizeable (say, 25+% on Link, maybe) fanbase.

I think that the character that stands out the most in this way is Master Chief, and it's probably why a lot of people expect him to perform better relative to his strength than most characters in this sort of format.
