Well, Marcus is about one update away from matching Kefka's highest lead that took him like 6 hours to get.

Will any characters actually hit 60%, 70% or even 80%?

I think we'll see Mario and Link getting well over 70%. By all means, they should get 80%, but that seems like a tall order in this format.

Dark Silvergun | Posted 9/7/2007 1:26:16 PM | message detail
I just think 80%+ is pushing it. If that were the case, then the other 3 would have a combined total of 20% or less. If the totals were close to even for the other 3, they would each have <7%.

Ike never should have been the favorite...especially now that we've seen Midna. If she couldn't do any better than she did a year after LoZ:TP's release on two different systems, then Ike's going to do NOTHING as a FE character with newly-found SSBB-hype. Granted, Midna's got tougher competition, but Ike still ain't competing with Duke or Gordon.

There's only one character I could see getting 80% -- Link. If he weren't dominate enough in a one-on-one contest, I think he might be even better here, especially against the sick amounts of fodder he's up against. The dude nearly got 45% in a poll with Cloud, Sephiroth, and Snake, after all.

Just to remind everyone, AiAi was able to get 9% on Link. We're not dealing with WW-Link anymore and LoZ:TP is out, but him breaking 80% on a PW character, a Pokemon character, and...whoever Agent J is.

Then again, Link's broken 80% on Fox and Yoshi before (separately) and his three opponents are all found on the DS, to my understanding. It's possible, but...still a steep order.

Yeah, I would agree that Link could get a possible 80%, but it would probably be closer to 70-75% in my own opinion, if it were to happen.

Hm. I wonder how many nominations Fenix got. Is it possible he'll be snubbed next year? Most people are probably don't know his name, and are basing their vote solely off of the picture, so I'm not sure if his being here wasn't largely thanks to this board wanting to see how he would do. It would be lame if he missed out on next year's contest because we counted on the casuals too much. =/

It's not like Fenix is a powerhouse or something, doing something like this puts him on Vercetti level, maybe a bit higher.
Karma Hunter | Posted 9/7/2007 1:37:29 PM | message detail
Not that I'd cry a river or anything if Kefka-level competition failed to make the contest, but I'd consider Fenix's return pretty safe. There's always a contingent of casual Xbox nominators who get their boys in. Just look at Sam Fisher (sure, multiplatform, but he's Xbox at the core).

He's got some help with that.

Don't get me wrong, Kefka is gash during the day. But as I keep saying making 150 vote cuts is always impressive. It beats what Sonic was doing to Crono or what Peach was doing to Jill (or what Masterchief was doing to DK? Can't remember) and those were one-on-one matches.

Everything we've seen has pointed to that? He was barely behind Ocelot in the villains contest, and barely ahead of him in 2K5. They're virtual equals.

I take Ocelot over Kefka because I think Ocelot's gotten stronger since SC2K5 (I would have taken him then as well), but I would say that the best Revolver could hope for in that match is, like...54%, maybe?

Obviously the Pac-adjustment isn't perfect, but when you have two contests and they're separated by 1% in the stats in both, one in favor of both, chances are they're pretty damn close to each other.

Trends don't mean a single thing. Just look at the end percentage tomorrow and make your conclusions from there. Who cares if he has a strong day vote? The night vote is just as weak as the day vote is strong by comparison. Crono lost some updates to Master Chief. Didn't prevent him from 60-40ing him.
