I never expected to win this thing in the first place, it's like
winning the lottery. so I'm not worried if I miss a match or something.
no reason to fret about that thing. --- "where the heck does diablo get his votes from on weekends? He should be losing because christians are fresh from the church and voting against evil" -voltch |

I just got back from school to see Kefka leading by like 600. So what's the consensus now? Will Kefka hang on or will Marcus kill him with th afterschool vote? |

no reason to fret about that thing. I agree. It's actually kind of funny how many people think they have a good shot at winning at the start of every contest. --- sig |

Will Kefka hang on or will Marcus kill him with th afterschool vote? Kefka is already dying, and the after school vote hasn't even started. He's just that bad with the day vote. Even magus could probably outdo him in the day. --- sig |

I'm actually surprised there are only 167
perfects at this point. I'm not fretting much about potentially losing
two points here. ESPECIALLY this match where so many people took Kefka.
I'm actually rooting for Marcus. --- Proud Supporter of Zero |

In terms of my non-ridiculous upsets, the only things I'm worried about
are MM > Knuckles, Jill/Ocelot, that mess in the first 2 groups of
division 3, and the fact that I seem to have forgotten to change my

Honestly I bet a ton of people have Kefka > Tom Nook here, simply
because we've seen Tom Nook in a contest before. Marcus will have
reasonable bracket support, but he's certainly not going to be the
overwhelming favorite for second that this board has him at, I'm sure. --- "GUYS I JUST DRANK A MASTER CHIEF SODA, MASTER CHIEF FOR 2007!" - Swirldude |

Marcus having bracket support makes sense. Kefka's also a bracket whore, but if MC can have as many as Crono, I think Marcus will be the second favourite here. --- "where the heck does diablo get his votes from on weekends? I bet more casuals have Fenix for first than the board, and Nook
probably had...eh, decent support. Nothing crazy though -- Kefka and
Fenix are taking most of the support here. --- PETITION: a "Contest Suggestions" board. Life-changing details below: http://boards.gamefaqs.com/gfaqs/genmessage.php?board=7&topic=35717580 |

Lopen | Posted 9/7/2007 10:09:44 AM | message detail |
But Marcus Fenix is not a very standout name. I'm sure a lot of people
filled out the bracket and at first said "who's Marcus Fenix?" And "who's Zelos Wilder?" for that matter. I think Tom Nook would be the most recognizable name overall, but I might be underestimating GoW again. --- "GUYS I JUST DRANK A MASTER CHIEF SODA, MASTER CHIEF FOR 2007!" - Swirldude |
ZFS | Posted 9/7/2007 10:11:10 AM | message detail |
Fenix should have plenty of bracket support here. There's really no
good alternative, and it wouldn't take long to find out who Marcus
Fenix is -- "oh crap it's the Gears dude. *click*" --- Experiment status report update: Metroid project 'Dread' is nearing the final stages of completion. |
transience | Posted 9/7/2007 10:11:33 AM | message detail |
"Master Chief" is a pretty boring name, too. so is Link! if people know
who he is (and people are knowing who he is, judging by this poll),
he's going to get bracket support. that's obvious. --- "where the heck does diablo get his votes from on weekends? He should be losing because christians are fresh from the church and voting against evil" -voltch |

If marcus wins, this'l be the first match I got perfect on (current score is 9 >_<). How is that possible? There's only been four matches so far, and without perfects you can only score one or two points per match.... *confused* |
BlAcK TuRtLe | Posted 9/7/2007 10:14:00 AM | message detail |
I don't think so. The people who voted for him are people who have
played Gears, and I have a hard time believing people are stupid enough
to not know his name. I suppose we'll test this theory out when we see Frank West up to bat. TuRtLe ~~~ "Like Darth Maul, the bastard child of Michael Flatley and Hellboy" -trancer1 BlAcK TuRtLe. The cream of Zero fanboyism |

Kefka>Nook --- ha ha |
Lopen | Posted 9/7/2007 10:14:28 AM | message detail |
He's not an established name, though.
Even if you haven't played Link or Master Chief's game (and for the
record I don't think either of these names are generic), you are still
much more likely to know who they are. I don't doubt most of the site
is familiar with GoW and Marcus now, but the portion that isn't is that
much less likely to put him in the bracket, methinks. --- "GUYS I JUST DRANK A MASTER CHIEF SODA, MASTER CHIEF FOR 2007!" - Swirldude |

Fact, of course. Don't see how that could possibly hurt
him. It's not like the people who voted for him now wouldn't vote for
him with that name. Plus it obviously and blatantly connects him to
Gears of War, even if the voter couldn't make that connection before. --- Proud Supporter of Zero |
