Kefka with a 20 vote advantage that update. So far it's been: Marcus stall Marcus stall Kefka 20-30 vote advantage Kefka 15-25 vote advantage Marcus stall Marcus stall Kefka 20-30 vote advantage Oh...and throw in the odd, occasional Marcus 10-20 vote advantage once in a while. --- KANSAS CITY CHIEFS (0-0) : AFC Wildcard NEXT: at Houston Texans (0-0) |

So...how do you guys think this will go? Personally, I see Marcus making this turn. He looks to be stalling enough, and I get the feeling the day will strongly favor him. --- "Opinions are like butts, little girl. Kefka needs to be doing this a lot faster for me to have confidence in him. --- Donkey Kong Country 2 for next Games contest. This line reserved for next Guru winner. Unless it's me, therefore reserving plenty of noms for Dixie/DKC2. |

Every time Marcus cuts, Kefka gets one of his biggest updates yet. --- Demyx is better than Axel. I don't like Haley Scarnato |
MMXcalibur | Posted 9/7/2007 12:27:48 AM | message detail |
I think the day vote will favor Marcus. By the looks of it, I don't
think Kefka is going to have enough of a lead to hold on and enough
support to have any sort of late comeback. I would expect Frog/Axel
Part Deux without the late game heroics. --- KANSAS CITY CHIEFS (0-0) : AFC Wildcard NEXT: at Houston Texans (0-0) |

As much as I'd like to hope against hope for the sake of my bracket, as
it stands now I would be shocked if Marcus doesn't win this one in a
laugher. Now get going Kefka, you're supposed to own this block of hours! --- thengamer.com/xstats = lol x-stats Still smarting from the beatdown Rufus applied in the Guru Contest! |

Frog at least managed to get a near 2000 vote difference. Kefka doesn't
look like he is going to have any where near enough if Fenix is
competent with the day vote. --- Donkey Kong Country 2 for next Games contest. This line reserved for next Guru winner. Unless it's me, therefore reserving plenty of noms for Dixie/DKC2. |

Well, Kefka supporters, it could be worse for us...Kefka could be
LOSING votes in his primetime for gaining votes. Let's just ride this
wave for as long as it takes us and hope to God that he's able to
somehow, someway....pull this one out of his ass. (A rabbit! TA-DAA!) --- KANSAS CITY CHIEFS (0-0) : AFC Wildcard NEXT: at Houston Texans (0-0) |
HaRRicH | Posted 9/7/2007 1:02:16 AM | message detail |
Fenix doesn't have to be like KH with his day-vote. If Fenix is half of
MC or similar to either Hayabusa or even HK-47 (he barely lost the
day-vote to Sora)...hell, if he's simply better than Wesker (who went "wire to wire" with Kefka in a 72-28 match), then Kefka's going to be in for a scare. I'm curious if FF6a might keep Kefka from doing so bad with the day-vote though..... --- PETITION: a "Contest Suggestions" board. Karma Hunter | Posted 9/7/2007 1:10:59 AM | message detail |
It's not like FF6 isn't easily one of the site's favorite games. The
problem has never been in the game's popularity - it's just that for
all the love the game gets, people just don't want to vote for its
characters for whatever reason. I kind of suspect FF6 benefits a bit
more from franchise voting than some are willing to admit, but it's all
speculation. --- delicious cats Commit it to memory. |
Adept of Aiur | Posted 9/7/2007 1:12:30 AM | message detail |
That still shouldn't make it one of the top 10 strongest games on the
site. If franchise voting alone could do that, every Final Fantasy
would have killed in the games contest, even the first one. And didn't
Final Fantasy lose the series contest? --- "An intellectual is a man who takes more words than necessary to tell more than he knows." |
Karma Hunter | Posted 9/7/2007 1:17:38 AM | message detail |
I said that it benefited from franchise voting more
than some admit, not that it gets the bulk of its strength from
franchise voting. The original Final Fantasy was a MUCH heavier
beneficiary of franchise voting, in part because it's so weak without
it (and I'm seriously doubting as much of the site has really played
through FF1 as they let on, if only because voters seem to prove
themselves stupider with every chance they get). The fact that FF did
as well as it did on Mario 3 is a clear giveaway that there was
franchise voting making a big difference there - to me, anyway. --- delicious cats Commit it to memory. |
Keno316 | Posted 9/7/2007 1:17:47 AM | message detail |
The thing with FF6 characters is that they're so many of them, and so
many are likeable for different reasons that its difficult to single in
on one character that will get a solid following. --- "Opinions are like butts, little girl. Everyone's got one and nobody thinks their's stink." -Lunar 2:EB *Claims KG's Eclair, C.C. & Tear Grants* |
Karma Hunter | Posted 9/7/2007 1:19:10 AM | message detail |
And... do you remember the games contest? FF1 did respectably on Mario
3, FFT nearly beat MGS, FFX nearly beat SSBM, FF6 gave LttP a scare and
FF7 won... I don't think you could expect much better from the FFs than
that. --- delicious cats Commit it to memory. |

I think that FF6 gets the "respect" vote for supposedly being the "best" FF in much the same way that SMB3 does. --- The world is toroidal. Exposed armpits are sexy. |

What Keno said, but it's also for design reasons. FF6 characters are
little rectangular sprites, for one thing, plus their art is considered

What Keno said, but it's also for design reasons. FF6 characters are
little rectangular sprites, for one thing, plus their art is considered
bland and/or ugly (according to the masses). Too bad many can't look past that, as FF6 had one of the more better developed cast of FF characters. Xuxon | Posted 9/7/2007 1:35:50 AM | message detail |
I really have no idea. I can see why he would be the favorite, but
Kefka could easily have a lead in the 1200-1500 range by after-school.
If that's the case Fenix would definitely need an above average day
vote to win, and we really have no idea what his day vote will be like. --- FFXII NLB - finished - 39 marks FFXII LLIENANMiNDM - Bhujerba (post-Ba'Gamnan) |
Karma Hunter | Posted 9/7/2007 1:39:06 AM | message detail |
Kefka's peak against Vercetti was over 1100 votes. Yet even despite
MASSIVE cheating, Vercetti - who doesn't have an exceptional day vote
at all - was able to slice Kefka all the way down to nothing. Fenix can have a merely passable day vote and Kefka would still get a scare. It's just the way Kefka rolls. --- delicious cats Commit it to memory. |

Haste_2 | Posted 9/7/2007 1:53:18 AM | message detail |
Yet, FF6 seemed to be stronger than FF10. I think FF6's strength is
mostly for real. FF6 character's are so weak not ONLY because of the
ensemble cast, but because their design is bland (according to the
masses), and that goes for both art AND sprites (they're rectangular).
Chrono Trigger, on the other hand, has none of those disadvantages. --- "Ah, a party! We haven't had one of those. It could be fun! So...what is a party?" "Well, you drink punch and eat CAKE! ...I think." |
whatev | Posted 9/7/2007 2:02:28 AM | message detail |
Yeah, I guess SMB3 wasn't the best example. It's hard to separate its
"pure" popularity from the historical acclaim that it gets. Still
though, I think that the "respect" for those games does have some
influence on its strength. --- The world is toroidal. Exposed armpits are sexy. |
HaRRicH | Posted 9/7/2007 2:14:13 AM | message detail |
I'd agree, and it's probably the only reason why I could support
dividing the gamings eras in the contest. I'd like to see how such
respect and nostalgia of a game like the original FF or LoZ hold up to
new-age games which WILL one day have similar respect and nostalgia
like RE4. --- PETITION: a "Contest Suggestions" board. Life-changing details below: http://boards.gamefaqs.com/gfaqs/genmessage.php?board=7&topic=35717580 |

Zelos is my favorite character ever, but this is hardly shocking. You
