Tingle's got my vote.

And I've got him advancing.

OH JEEZE!
Haste_2 | Posted 9/1/2007 10:29:06 PM | message detail
I really have no idea who's going to advance. I see good reason for ANY of them to get second place really... and also good reason that they wouldn't get second place. I think it's easily the toughest of the Round 1 fodder threesomes.

Eh, I think the toughest of the Round 1 fodder threesomes is HK-47/Lloyd/Jak. No one cares about them.

I see good reason for none of them to advance.

So, now that we've seen so many years' worth of brackets ranging from 2k2 to now, what matches STILL don't make sense to you? I still don't understand GTA/Warcraft above any other match, though there are some others that fit the bill as well (MC/Felix, Jill/Kirby, etc.).

I don't really consider Lloyd in the running. I'll take 34% on Sora-2k4 over 27% on Zero-2k5, and HK-47 had a second game since then. It ought to be a battle between HK and Jak, sure, but I don't think Lloyd should be considered with them.

I don't know why people bring up the match against Sora to justify HK's strength. Sora's notorious for racking up the anti-votes against fodder (see: his matches against Agent 47, Tingle, and Gordon Freeman).

I'd still put him over Lloyd just for being in a much more popular game and actually having fans.

The trouble with that match is that none of those characters have any staying power whatsoever. They were from games that were loved during their heyday and promptly forgotten about. It's tough to decide which the GameFAQs voters have less apathy about.

I dunno, 40% on Vice City seems like something ToS would never do in its lifetime. and though HK-47 got 35% on Sora, even if you account for inflation, he's still probably higher than Lloyd.

I think the toughest fodder threesome is L-Block, Laharl, and Nathan Hale.

Laharl has a hardcore fanbase, but it is very tiny. The L-Block is a joke character that really lucked out, as it is the only one that comes from a game that we know was played by more than three people. Nathan Hale is supposed to be Tanner Lite, but so was Agent 47, and he would win this threesome with ease.

So, I didn't expect the contest to be starting tomorrow. Figured it was a Tuesday start.

I'd planned on sending my analyses for the AC tomorrow. Well, I still do... but it's gonna be cutting it closer than I thought it would've.

I'd send them now but they're on a different computer. Still the same email address, right Moltar?

I'll try to do it Monday or Tuesday. If you have your own script, feel free to email it to me, might make my edit easier :) Though I can only really use it if it's in PHP.

I harvest the data using a perl script and copy in manually over to a spreadsheet that does the rest. It doesn't sound like it would be too useful to you.

I was flip-flopping on HK-47/Jak. Zero is just going to dominate that four-pack so hard that anybody can get second place. I guess the whole "Sora can't blow anybody out" notion leaves me on Jak's side, but I'm still iffy...

Tingle has the inside track for second place in that match, but I picked Mudkip on pure principle. I'd rather lose a point not picking Tingle than gain a point picking him. **** him.

You know, Pit isn't really that bad of a choice to take second place in that group. Yeah, he's got nothing but the SSBB trailer and general hype to back him up, but it's not like he needs that much. I know we bring up Zero Suit Samus when talking about the knowledge of the average gamer on this site, but hell, we're not talking about a one-on-one match here. All Pit needs are enough SSBB fanatics to vote for him. And given how we've had over a year of general SSBB hype stemming from the trailer and beyond, I don't think it's farfetched to believe that there are enough SSBB diehards out there to get Pit to the next round.

but four way match pics you'd just have to ask people to make some for you.

Sorry about it, i live in Asia so i don't know much about the time zone.

What is the pacific time right now.
GyratingGrandma | Posted 9/2/2007 9:59:47 AM | message detail
...and why would you have to ask for other people to make them for you? Sure they're more complicated than 1v1 match pic, but really, the amount of effort isn't that much greater.

I still think we're going to, but its getting too close to battle time for my liking now. If we dont have any by 8PM tonight I'll start thinking we might not be having them, until then I still think we are.

Anyway, the contest isn't based on Pacific time, it's Eastern, and it's 1:03 PM.

Not much to say about the 1st one. Knux and Yoshi look the best, and Vaan....well, we know who's getting the oh so powerful female vote!

I like Mega Man's and Diablo's pics the best in the 2nd. KOS-MOS doesn't really stand out, and Arthas....eww

I really like the second match's pic.

So, I know my bracket has some flaws like anybody else's, but as I finally got to typing mine up for the BOP/Guru, I saw a potentially big upset. This would assume Auron managed second in his division against Cloud and Shadow/Bowser/Ryu...but if that happened, then the next round would feature Cloud/Auron/Samus/Mega Man. Between Auron being in the poll and MP3 being hot, would Samus stand any chance at first for this round?
