And not that it will effect this Contest or anything, but I also have

About as well as Symphony of the Night, I think. That's hardly
terrible, especially considering how fresh it is. Alucard's still going

order, just that overall those are the 20 that sold most during the

catchin' up here. Yeah, you say that kinda stuff all the time, but yet we've SEEN it happen. People go Yoshi > Pac-Man > Luigi. People go Cloud > Vyse > Tifa. It does happen, regardless of how unlikely you think it is. oh, it happens. it's just FAR less likely than the stats would predict it to be. remember when Tifa was winning the contest because she smashed Vyse? yeah. Kirby being there instead of Yoshi isn't going to change a whole lot there. on gamefaqs being "racist" - ha. sorry, Link isn't suddenly going to be fodder if he got a palette swap! Matt will do fine - or at the very least, he wouldn't do significantly better if he was white. I actually think his character design is far more recognizable and likable than if that was a boring-ass white dude. on punch-out! - I guarantee more people know the name "Little Mac" than they do "Amaterasu". hell, I'm SURE more people know Little Mac than Matt the Mii, but the pictures will change all of that when the time comes. I just don't think enough people will vote for a mii. and uh get this amaterasu/dante sff cra out of my stats topic please, next you'll be discussing phoenix wright/dante sff --- "There's "Awesome," then a few more notches up there is "Amazing," go a few more up and there's "Impeccable." Wait what, there are so some who haven't played Punch-OuT? Oh yeah, I'm starting to gdt old, I'm 19. And on this site there are people who was even to young to have played the Mega Drive/ Super Nintendo games.... But anyway Little Mac is far from obscure. Almost everyone who played on a NES back in the early 90's knows that Punch-Out is an excellent game (Easily top 10 on the Nes) and cconsidering that the average age on Gamefaqs is about 20, I would say at least 30% have played Punch-OUt, it's after all a Nes classic. But will they vote for Little Mac over Link? Remember, Punch-Out is a game where you are more likely to love the opponents more than the main character..... --- Ngamer64: Zylo, you're making less sense every day. I've been playing video games since I was 2. I had beaten Super C and
the NES Mario games by the time I was 4. I have never played Punch-Out
or Super Punch-Out. While I think whoever it was posted it before may be underestimating Punch-Out's player-base, it is still nowhere near the size of the major franchises, especially with the GameFAQs demographic seemingly younger than ever. I think Matt takes this match on Wii association alone. We all know how popular the Wii has been this year, and Matt is basicallyj the Wii representative for the contest. Seriously though what does everyone think of the first round match that
is at the end of division 5. Liquid has proven his worth, Alucard seems
like hes steadily going down, Ness is questionable, and Zidane is
totally random with the SFF he took. I've got Liquid over Ness but I
wouldn't be suprised to see any of those characters win especially in

To say that Alucard has dropped to the level of Liquid, Ness, and
Zidane is crazy. Alucard has the first match under control for sure,
the only question is the next match. Alucad, Yuna, and Master Chief are
all meeting, and one of them is gonna get snubbed. Finding out which
one is going to be the key to the division. --- I did it for the lulz! |

I'm taking Ness > Alucard. Three stars of the PS1 are duking it out
and Ness pre-Nintendo Boost did as well on Auron pre-KH2 as Alucard did
post-KH2...not that I'm doubting that Auron jumped much, but this
format and particular match will probably still allow Ness to edge it
out. The EB fanbase is strong and SSBB-hype/SSBM is huge here,
so...that's my guess for the winner while the other PS1-stars duke it
out. As for Alucard, I figure he's the strongest of the other three, he recently had C:SotN ported to Xbox Live, and I think he's going to have a firm fanbase as well since C:SotN did so well in the Top 100 List (#15, I think). Granted, series-wise CV would be up against MGS and FF, but Zidane's a horrible rep to bring into this fight and Alucard is more to CV than Liquid to MGS as I understand it. I'm rolling with Alucard for this one. Either way, this match is going to be a complete dogfight between all four involved. --- PETITION: a "Contest Suggestions" board. I have Alucard > Ness, because I think the whole PS1 SFF thing is a
load of crock. If Ness wins that one, it's because he's the only

I'm definitely not automatically giving Ness the automatic win. He's
not exactly a pillar of popularity over the others. I don't care that
he's the only Nintendo character in the group, he's not going to
automatically get the votes of the entire Nintendo fanbase. He may
automatically get the votes of the Nintendo fans who simply aren't
familiar with any of the other 3, but for those that know the
characters, the vote is easily up for grabs, especially between Alucard
and Ness. And Liquid is definitely going to get his share of the votes.

Of course Ness is not a lock, and I'm not calling for PS1-SFF
either...I'm just saying that three of them come from the same era on
the same system, so that would give a fourth different character a bit
of potential breathing room...and given that fourth character is
Nintendo, it's quite possible he takes advantage of it. One-on-one, I'd
take Alucard and maybe Liquid over Ness...but in this format and in
this particular match, Ness is in a rather good position. I would be caught a lil' off guard if the two who advance in this four-pack finish with 55+% though, and I don't think any of them will hit 30% either. Again, it's heated, but given this format which can benefit Ness and the three opponents having their aforementioned similarities, I think Ness is the one to edge it out. --- PETITION: a "Contest Suggestions" board. I don't believe in the "Ness will win #1 because he is Nintendo"
either, there are many Nintendo fans that are pretty much sitting on
the fence. They'll take a look at the three others and will fall off
the fence if they see another face they like more. Ness to me doesn't
sound like someone that will attract votes via name recognition like

You know, I just realized that Zidane making it out of that fourpack
would really blow up alot of Board 8 brackets, and it's actually pretty
possible considering the only time we saw him before was a first round

All this discussion over Matt vs. Little Mac vs. Amatseratu, three of the weakest characters in the bracket. Wow! Anyone have links to pictures of Matt and Amatseratu? I think for Matt, it will be important whether he's listed as "Matt the Mii" or just "Matt". I think if he's just Matt, he'll be incredibly weak, whereas if he's listed as a Mii he might be somewhat stronger. If I knew now that he'd be listed as "Matt", I don't think I could take him over Little Mac. One thing about a 4-way match is that while minor factors should have exaggerated importance, the picture might actually be less important because each character will be smaller. Ya know, I don't think MGS: The Twin Snakes is getting enough cred in
the Ness/Alucard/Liquid 4 pack. I mean, it's typically not a huge
factor, but you've gotta figure that a lot
of these supposed "Nintendo only" people that Ness pickers are banking
on will have played it, since it would be their only way to try the
