Hmm, I wonder how much, if any, difference it would make if Big Boss
got a Naked Snake pic instead of an old man pic. I'm guessing there
would be at least a little bit of a difference. He'll probably get the

Leeching, SFF -- it doesn't matter. Auron's going to havea base
there that isn't going to up and abandon him for Cloud. I'm not talking
about the people who are like "Yeah, Auron's cool. *click*" here
either; those votes will assuredly go to Cloud. I'm talking about the
people who think Auron to be the best character, or one of the coolest
characters in gaming. Those folks aren't going to jump ship to the more
popular Square character, at least I don't believe so. Hell yeah I'm jumping ship to Cloud. I don't care how much Auron resists SFF, he'll have a lot of support stolen. Cloud will have some of his support stolen as well, obviously, but that just doesn't matter. Auron is arguably stronger than Bowser to begin with (I certainly think he is, however), but in this format? Bowser is better against Cloud here than Auron. Now you make a 3-pack of them (lol Marcus)? Bowser would nearly stick to his 30 (obviously losing some), with Cloud and Auron both going down. Let's say Bowser drops to 25. If Cloud and Auron split the remaining percentage like their match implies, Cloud takes 50.54% of the vote and Auron loses by a fair amount. In fact, for Auron to win that 3-pack, Bowser's percentage would have to drop under 23%. Hmmm, that's interesting, though. Is Midna liked? I might have to go with Scorpion/Kratos instead of Midna/Scorpion. Midna's very widely liked. She's at least as popular with Zelda fans as Tifa is with FFVII fans, and she has the largest story role of pretty much anyone in a Zelda game. She should do extremely well here, and there's a reason that many people expect her to be the strongest newcomer, even over Balthier. --- Rapid analysis, accurate judgment, and superb powers of concentration. That is all we need. |

Urgh I totally messed that up. Let's say Bowser drops to 25. My friends played Gears singleplayer for an hour total and he remembers who Marcus is. I just don't get it. Yeah I totally agree with this. I played like an hour of GeoW at a friend's place and I definitely know Marcus. Is Xbox360 ownage really at 15%? Considering Marcus Fenix won't be very
recognizable to people that haven't played Gears, I may have to switch

I think I have to say something why I have Zelos > Marcus (Zelos has
ZyLopen backing for him, now he obviously have no chance in hell) 1st: Carl Johnson, Sam Fisher, Gordon Freeman, Ratchet, Jak, e.t.c. We have seen main characters from popular games being weak before. Maybe not all of these characters is stronger than Marcus, but they are all on more popular systems. 2nd: Marcus Fenix has no appeal to anyone unless you've played his game. I've only played with a friend, and I always was Cole (that's the second player's name right?), which at least I found much more "likeable". 3rd: It's gamefaqs poll time... http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=2792. Sure Tales Of didn't get 10%, but except for FF, it doubled every other series. Clearly the Tales of series is more popular here than your average RPG series. 4th: http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=2091. While Kratos should be the most strongest character in ToS, Zelos should be in 2nd, unless I underestimate Sheena. While 43% on Diablo isn't that impressive, Diablo is a better opponent than Kefka. I suppose so. I'm just saying because of that flaw, a poll that has
three games from three different systems should be expected to draw
decent numbers for all three games because the overlap would be

Eh, I'll go to bed as a broken record: GeoW isn't to be messed with
here. He got 51% of the vote on G4's recent poll for best newcomer, I
believe GameSpot gave an award to the entire cast of GeoW for Best New
Character (I need to double-check that), 360 ownership is higher than
we ever saw Xbox ownership, GeoW impressed in the 360-GotY poll and the
overall-GotY polls compared to FF12, he wasn't a popular choice with
the board-nominations and still made it in, and if Fenix's fanbase is
similar to MC's fanbase...well, that will ensure he advances. None of this means he must be a decently strong character...but that looks like a recipe for success as far as landing in the top two of his measly fourpack. --- PETITION: a "Contest Suggestions" board. I haven't played either ToS (more than an hour's worth, anyway) or
Gears of War, so I'm pretty clueless there... but, hey, Gordon
Freeman's on the level of Kefka, and Gears of War is probably as

I'm torn between Ada and Frank for second. Frank seems to be the
favorite, but Ada does play an interesting role in Resident Evil 4 -
which is not only a very popular game on this site, but it also trumps
Dead Rising. I don't see much Capcom SFF getting in the way, but who
knows. Resident Evil 4 is on two Nintendo systems and the Playstation

As a person with a ToS username, let me be the first to say that very,
very few ToS fans actually think Zelos is a good character. Or like
him. We may be loyal and vote for him, but, dammit, we won't like it. Marcus for the second place. |

Concerning the Sephiroth/Peach/CATS/Meta-Knight 4-pack : I've seen some CATS picks, and I just really don't see it happening. CATS will probably end up with his hardcore ~12%. That leaves 88% to divide over the rest of the bunch. Let's assume that in a 3-way match Sephiroth ends up with 75% over Peach and Meta-Knight. A little optimistic maybe, but the stats say Sephiroth beats Peach with around 75%, so it's just assuming Meta-Knight won't do anything. The further you bring Sephiroth's percentage down (surely no one would think him to break 75% on Peach + Meta-Knight?), the further you lessen CATS' chances. Add CATS to the mix, and we have Sephiroth ending with 66%, CATS with 12%, and 22% to split over Peach/Meta-Knight. They would have to split nearly perfectly for CATS to proceed to the next round. And I hate to break it to whoever picked Ike to WIN his fourpack: It
ain't happening. Second place is his best bet. You're lookin' at a guy
who wasn't announced in an official trailer. He was announced on a
website. Now I don't know how popular the Smash Bros. site is (probably
pretty popular, I imagine), but I can't see that having anywhere near
the amount of hype an official trailer would. Plus, Fire Emblem is still not THAT popular of a series. Sure, it may have gotten 35% or so on Metal Gear, but that still makes it a fodder series. Plus, I'd imagine Fire Emblem would be a series that's stronger than any of its characters. So basically you're relying on hype to put Ike over three other characters. Now I'm not going to be surprised if he gets second, considering the level of competition, but I think first place is out of his reach. --- What now, Merril Hoge? |

I wouldn't take Pit or MK to get second in that four-pack, much less
Ike. Both have more SSBB-hype and MK comes from a bigger series, and

As a person with a ToS username, let me be the first to say that
very, very few ToS fans actually think Zelos is a good character. Or
like him. We may be loyal and vote for him, but, dammit, we won't like

I was under the impression that Zelos was either 2nd or 3rd (behind
Kratos and MAYBE Sheena, not sure about the order) on a ToS fansite. Lloyd is the one people don't like, which is why I don't give him much chance of advancing from his fourpack, regardless of the competition. --- What now, Merril Hoge? |

Colette is hated by the non-hardcore players who thinks she sucks in a fight, and like Zelos well enough. This is why I'm thinking Jade stands a chance. Ada ranks below both
Kratos and Sheena in the lolstats (she's also barely ahead of Lloyd
iirc) and they're the fan favorites. Jade is easily the favorite from
Abyss by a hell of a lot. Everyone who's played Abyss seems to love it
a lot more than Symphonia (well except for me :/). I guess I'm banking
