I think I'm gonna stick with Ryu in that match up, but I can really see any one of them taking 2nd place. I'm definitely confident in Auron grabbing 1st, but after that it really is a crapshoot.

Mm... when I think about it, Shadow and Bowser might split a little common fanbase, giving Ryu the edge in Auron/Bowser/Shadow/Ryu.

It's the only thing that makes Mario/Shadow remotely make sense, so that could be true.

Late, but with Sephiroth/Peach/Meta-Knight/CATS, Peach is expected to more than double CATS (by my estimation). That means if Peach gets 20%, CATS would get an estimated 10% (minus a little). That's quite a lot to overcome. What gives CATS a slight shot, though, is how much Sephiroth is going to dominate the poll, and Peach/Meta-Knight sharing a fanbase. Oh, and this is a prime opportunity to see face CATS in a multi-option poll like this (last year, it was sort of a...hybrid CATS). Oh, and the stronger Meta-Knight is, the more of a chance CATS has.

and if Ryu is affected at all by Bowser again

You've really got to stop bringing this up because it makes no sense to think that Bowser is some sort of poison for Ryu. Sure, he beat him down pretty handily in 2005, but it wasn't a BLOWOUT (by non-Ulti standards). I personally think it's ridiculous that you keep talking about Bowser hurting Ryu more than Mewtwo or Toad despite both being Nintendo and him not. You're taking that 2005 match for FAR more than it's worth. There is NO way Bowser hurts Ryu more than Mewtwo or Toad. Heck, you're a huge lover of the SSB having a serious effect on strength theory, and guess who's in SSBM with Bowser? MEWTWO! And guess what, Mewtwo sucks in the game! No tier advantage!

And Bowser getting hindered to the point that Ryu takes first is much more likely than Bowser hindering Ryu to the point that Mewtwo takes second. I just don't see where you're coming from with that one at all. You've seen Ryu get a cool 30% in that Favorite SF Character poll, and his fans seem to be pretty dedicated to him. The more characters you throw into a poll, the more that dedication is worth. He's more likely to escape the division than he is to be out first round.

Why does everyone continue to argue with BT for pages on end? He's either stupid or a troll, and there's no sense in arguing with someone who is either.

Because half the time I'm right but noone wants to believe me.

Of course the other half of the time I'm proven horribly wrong (lol MC/Subby) so you really take a gamble by listening/ignoring me.

I wish I could dig up the old stats topic posts where people called me an idiot for thinking that Warcraft had a shot against GTA (and I was sadly on the road during the match) and look how that turned out.

I'm sure people would have called me stupid when I had Ness > CJ and Pac > Ocelot in 2k5, but I didn't post in the stats topics then.

Going against the majority and being right:

- Warcraft/GTA
- Mega Man/Mario Kart
- Pac/Ocelot
- Ness/CJ
- Mario/Samus (if you could call it a majority)
- Sonic 2k6 = MM 2k6
- Squall > Knux/Magus
- Kairi/Claire
- Yoshi/Dante
- Peach/Jill, though that was close enough that it shouldn't count

Going against the majority and being wrong:

- Halo coming back vs Castlevania
- MC coming back vs Sub-Zero
- Snake beating Mega Man

Feel free to list any I missed

- Mega Man/Mario Kart

Mario Kart was not a majority.

- Squall > Knux/Magus

Yeah, I was calling that long before you did. That's not your baby.

- Kairi/Claire

...Kairi was a big favorite on the board.

- Yoshi/Dante

...Yoshi was a big favorite on the board.

- Peach/Jill, though that was close enough that it shouldn't count

Sorry, you weren't even close to the minority here. Peach was a BIG favorite.

You say Board favourites, but alot of what I listed was the minority in terms of stats topic blunders.

And I don't recall anybody supporting me after Snake/Mega Man and before Sonic/Snake. It was just page after page of KH calling me a moron, then completely avoiding the subject when I was proven right.

I just seem to remember (and Ulti can back me on this) everyone calling Peach uber-fodder that was going to die easily to Jill.

And what weird things? Sora increasing after a well recieved sequel?

Gordon Freeman validating his 2k5 numbers?

Ryu being back at his 2k4 levels after the oddity that was his 2k5 match?

Ask everyone who was in their brackets.

Weird things include:

Ganondorf = Sora > Auron

Bowser = Ryu

And I know a lot of people are high on Kratos, but there's no way he's close to Zero, Leon Kennedy, and Kirby last year. I'm not even sure he could beat them this year.

From BlAcK TuRtLe
Pikachu doesn't have a core following, but Pokemon the series does, as evidenced by the BSE by it going nearly even with Metroid. Not to mention the fact that Diamond/Pearl are relatively new, Nintendo support and Smash hype are both at an all-time high, and Pikachu is easily the most recognizable character there. This seems fairly obvious to me.

TuRtLe

Sorry, I realize this was like, ten pages back, but I've got to say: bwahahahahahaha...you so obviously weren't here in 2k2 when everyone was saying "OMG, Pokemon = popular, thus Pikachu = popular, QED!"

Leon Kennedy is aj distinct possibility, but Zero and Kirby were both hurt by Luigi, so I wouldn't put any stock in their numbers.

And Auron was up against Crono, so there may be a percent or 2 of SFF to account for that. I can definitely see Sora at or near Auron's level now (well, maybe not now since KH2 is a year old, but when KH3 comes out, my money will be behind Sora in most of his matches).

And Ganondorf seems fishy in his own right. Either something happened against Vincent, or something happened in his previous years. I would take Sora to beat Ganondorf.

And by that, I mean had Ganon/Sora/Auron been in a fourpack last year, all would have been close enough to appear equal. Now I see Ganondorf being a clear step above them with TP and KH2 not being new.
