I was trying to pick Serge or even Isaac over Pikachu for awhile, but I
realized that Pikachu still managed to get 20% on an anomaly-ridden
Cloud in 2k2. Throw in the lessened Pokemon hate, the Pokemon/Nintendo
resurge, Tidus/Serge/Isaac certainly NOT equating to Cloud, and Tidus

I think this is less about people liking Pikachu, and more about them
preferring Pika over the opposition (Ike and Serge are cult, and Tidus
isn't a favorite either). I can see Pikachu doing well just from

Wow, I think Pikachu takes second easily... but wow, winning the four pack? Tidus must have really fell off to you guys. I can't see him not
winning this group with ease. Seeing how well Yuna, Rikku, and Auron
did last year, I'm pretty sure that Tidus would have bounced back as
well if he wasn't stuck in a SFF match with Squall... I certainly don't

Someone who gets 20% on the equivalent of 2003 Mario is only worth
15.25% on BL. Such a person would not be expected to defeat 2003 Gordon

Cloud-2k2 should have been above that regardless...besides, for
something more contemporary, Nidoran F still managed 18% on Samus-2k6.
Pikachu would do similarly if not better. Anyway, Pikachu would probably be stronger now than in 2k2 and this format hurts him far less, so given his competition he doesn't HAVE to be that strong. Beating Tidus is a pipedream, but Serge likely won't be impressive in either general strength or in this particular match he's in thanks to Tidus. I don't think Isaac will hurt Pikachu much, either (doubt even Felix would). Pikachu is potentially the second strongest of the four, the Pokemon fanbase is fairly firm, and Pikachu is up against two other hated characters and one many people don't know. This is a golden opportunity for Pikachu, whether he steals second or falls just shy of it. --- PETITION: a "Contest Suggestions" board. It'd be incredible if Serge pulls a Crono and beats characters way more
mainstream than he is. I'm not getting my hopes up though. Serge

Serge could get 20% on Mario, but Serge has a notably stronger Square
character to contend with than himself. Pikachu is competing with a
notably weaker Nintendo character. Throw in the recent Nintendo swing
and Pikachu/Serge probably not being too bad of a match...it's hard for
