...going through the bracket now, didn't read any of the past topic
since the brackets been up, and I'm really, really pissed off.
Seriously, why the **** can't we just get a normal god damn bracket?
Tired of it being too similar? Give us a normal games bracket, I think
last year showed that the character battles still have plenty to be
desired, as it kicked ass, and that was with the pathetic as hell
female half pulling it down. --- mmm feel the vibration baby |

My poor Yoshi... And to prevent shooting myself in the foot with her, is there any chance Midna completely bombs? It never seems to get brought up, so I have a feeling the answer is "no", but, I can't stand her. Granted, I haven't beaten the game yet, and my brother hinted there was a bit more to her, but, she's way more annoying to me than Navi ever was. Some people were saying they'd take Midna over Balthier before the bracket came out. That I thought was way too high for her, but second/first in her little fourpack shouldn't be beyond her. K, analysis time: Div 1: Not too much is hard here. KOS/Diablo is about as tough as it gets. Yoshi > Knux in R1, Knux > Yoshi in R2, thanks to SFF. Div 2: A little tougher. Jill/Ocelot is very interesting (who gets SFF'd more by Cloud? Will it be young Ocelot?), and Kefka/Marcus could also be great. Kefka's very close to Sam Fisher, and the SFF probably decides that one. After that, we see Mewtwo and Shadow horribly wasted. Bowser/Auron could be interesting, but I'll take the lone Nintendo character there. Div 3: Not much here, except for the final fourpack. I'm taking Phoenix, personally. Nice to see that Phoenix/Bomberman was set up. Div 4: Again with the Phoenix Wright characters. No idea how Bidoof will do, really. PW fanboyism decides this for me. >_> Zelda/Vince is good. I think I'd take Zelda normally, and The Boss hurts Vince enough for me to be sure about it. Link/Vincent/Crono/Zero is incredible. Any of those three could come out on top (I'm taking Vince, since he's the only non-SNES character). Shame this didn't happen a couple years ago, when Zero was still a beast. Div 5: Was unsure about Tingle/Pit...but both will be SFF'd by Luigi, and I think Tingle's stronger. Alucard/Ness/Liquid/Zidane is another one where plenty of people could come out on top. I have Ness winning due to him being the lone Nintendo character, and Alucard just barely > Liquid. Really tough there though. Chief/Ganon/Yuna/Luigi is just crazy. I have Chief > Ganon, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Yuna win instead. Div 6: There are a lot of matches here that are almost interesting. Most interesting of all is Tidus/Vivi...all I have to decide that is Serge taking away from Vivi. Rest of division is boring though. Div 7: Heh, love these switcheroos. Kratos beats Kirby at first, but switches thanks to SFF from Riku and Snake. Nightmare/Vyse could be interesting too. Div 8: Squall/Aeris/Akuma could be interesting, especially with Geno there to leech. I just don't think Akuma's that strong though. I might be tempted to take Sora > Aeris in a one on one, but not with Squall there to add some extra crushing. Lara/Wesker is a little tough, but Lara's been doing well in recent times. Duke/Ike is also a gooder...but once again, I'll take the lone Nintendo character. Finals: Does Mario have what it takes to upset Sephiroth? Galaxy will be only ~a week after that match...but I'm thinking no. Chief/Dante is a toughy, and I'm taking Ganon > Sonic (again >_>) thanks to lone Nintendo character power. Rest is cake though. Pretty good bracket. Shame we didn't have better setups with Crono/Mega Man though. Tifa could've spiced things up too. |

Well, I doubt a fad on one site will do much, but Mudkip might actually
pull it off for being in a much more popular game (and I don't even
know which Pokemon game it is). To admit even more of my general
ignorance, I just now learned that Pit only starred in one game.

Division 2 Kefka Marcus Fenix Tom Nook Zelos Wilder This one could be odd. Marcus stars in the highest selling 360 game to date, and Kefka's from Final Fantasy VI...but both are probably going to be just a smidge above fodder. Zelos or Nook have nonzero chances, as well, but the bigger question is who comes out on top. Cloud Strife Jill Valentine Midgar Zolom Revolver Ocelot Cloud destroys the rest, obviously, but then what? Zolom's likely to be weak and SFF'd anyway, but Jill/Ocelot is quite interesting. Auron Chris Redfield Pyramid Head Shadow the Hedgehog Seems pretty straightforward. Auron and Shadow advance. Bowser Mewtwo Ryu (Street Fighter) Toad Also pretty straightforward. Bowser and Ryu. Sorry, Mewtwo and Toad, you got screwed. I guess Ryu could come out on top thanks to Bowser support being sucked away, but eh. Kefka Fenix Cloud Jill/Ocelot Jill/Ocelot's a pretty good bet for second, though Kefka and perhaps Marcus are also near them in strength. Kefka's got SFF working against him and Marcus has to deal with being on the 360, though. Auron Shadow Bowser Ryu This would have been a dream four pack, uh, thing, until 2k5 happened. There's still the question of who takes first between Auron and Bowser, at least. Cloud Jill/Ocelot (Marcus? Kefka?) Bowser Auron Unfortunately for Auron, we've seen Cloud/Auron and there was SFF involved. Unfortunately for Bowser, Auron outdid him by 3% on Crono last year. I take back what I said earlier about Bowser being lucky - that's a good match there, even with Cloud. Division 2 is tamer than most, but there's still some good matches in there, Jill/Ocelot and Bowser/Auron being the highlights. --- Mustache...and green... www.rit.edu/~zmb0386/Brawl.jpg |

See, the thing about Fenix that sets him apart from other X-Box FPS
stars is that his game was basically THE game for last year. Pretty
sure it sold the most and won many many GotY polls. He won't be a force
to be reckoned with, but I'm more than confident in taking him through
his division, especially with the legendary votals I'm expecting. TuRtLe ~~~ "Like Darth Maul, the bastard child of Michael Flatley and Hellboy" -trancer1 BlAcK TuRtLe. The cream of Zero fanboyism |

Well this contest is basically made for MC, massive game coming out
right after the contest starts, and basically takes away all the
anti-votes. So I'm definitely having him advancing, I think higher of
Yuna than most (yes Ganon butt pummeled her), but with Luigi in there,
I think she can eek it out, and it's worth the risk. This bracket

Division 2 Kefka Marcus Fenix Tom Nook Zelos Wilder Kefka and Marcus take this. I'm pretty confident of that. but which order? Marcus is likely to have one of those Master Chief-like fanbases due to the whole x-box loyalty. not that he'll be anti-voted like the Chief, but he'll certainly do better in a multi-option poll. (look at 2006 GOTY). Cloud Strife Jill Valentine Midgar Zolom Revolver Ocelot Cloud and.. uh... well, not the Midgar Zolom. :) I'd probably go with Jill, but Ocelot's got a chance, especially given the MGS4 hype. Auron Chris Redfield Pyramid Head Shadow the Hedgehog Auron and Shadow. easy enough. Bowser Mewtwo Ryu (Street Fighter) Toad argh. I hate this one. unpredictable Nintendo characters are thrown to waste when put next to Bowser and Ryu. cool to see Toad made it, though. Kefka Marcus Fenix Cloud Jill (Ocelot?) I feel confident that Kefka won't win this one. if Kefka gets slaughtered by Crono, imagine what will happen when paired with Cloud? so it's up to Jill and Marcus, and that's kind of a tossup for me. Auron Shadow Bowser Ryu WOW. well, that was my first impression. then I felt that trusting Nintendo and Square will make this an easy pick. Bowser and Auron, please. Cloud Bowser Auron someone else Bowser/Auron is great; Bowser/Auron/Cloud is bad. Square SFF pushes Bowser on. --- xexyz |

I've got my little risk placed with him this year going into the finals -- not winning, but just being apart of the four -- but Yuna, I dunno. I think she's certainly got a chance there due to Ganon/Luigi splitting the Nintendo vote, and her being the sole Square character. That's one of the more brutal packs. --- Believe |

Division 2 R1 - I have faith in Fenix. I think he can edge out Kefka. I also think it's close between Ocelot and Jill, seeing as how Cloud SFFs both series. Nothing else too bad here. R2 - Kefka and Ocelot get SFFed. Shadow gets screwed over by Auron and Bowser in a tough 4-pack. R3 - While Auron should get #2, Bowser is going to take it thanks to Cloud. Division 1 Knuckles the Echidna Rikku Vaan Yoshi Should be straightforward who goes on, and Yoshi seems like a safe bet to beat Knuckles for first. Any chance Rikku had is lost due to Vaan stealing her support Arthas Menethil Diablo KOS-MOS Mega Man Arthas makes it but no Illidan? darn u WoW! Anyways, MM is a lock for first, and the safe money is on KOS-MOS to eek out second, due to Blizzard SFF and her own little dedicated cult to back her up. Axel Frog Samus Aran Sarah Kerrigan Samus is a lock for first, Kerrigan is a lock for last (sadly) and I can't see Frog failing to break 30% on Mega Man, so he's my #2. Agent 47 Kratos Aurion Midna Scorpion Yawn. Agent 47 returns to get pummled. Kratos returns to get pummled. The real story here is to see whether Midna can ride her game to a win over Scorpion, or a satisfactory runner's-up role. Knuckles Yoshi KOS-MOS Mega Man We saw what MM did to Yoshi in 2k5, and KOS-MOS isn't nearly strong enough to dance with the big boys. Mega Man/Knuckles is my pick. Samus Frog Midna Scorpion Think this will be Samus and Frog moving on, but Scorps has a very realistic shot, if he can muster the support that Sub-Zero had last year. My money's on Frog though. Mega Man Knuckles Samus Frog Mega Man and Samus move on while Knux and Frog are left in the dust. Although one can't complain about their return from last year's hiatus. Nice placement for both.
