What can I say? I got bored. The internet is a boring place without
GameFAQs. Don't expect me to be here ALL the time anymore though... And yes, Akuma/Fenix is much better! Also, I don't understand all of the Fox/Vivi discussion from the original bracket. I still don't think DK beats Vivi nowadays, and I still don't buy the Fox > DK hype that's been going around (at least indirectly). Sure, there's the Nintendo Boost and all (as well as a potential Square decline, I guess...), but I think that's anywhere near enough for Fox. Honestly, if Vivi won with 55%+, I wouldn't be shocked. that was mostly a trap match, and a few people took it. it's not that
crazy of a pick, I guess. I think people are scared to pick against
Nintendo. I'd take Vivi for sure though. on the subject of DK vs. Vivi, assume MC 2k5 = MC 2k6: Master Chief (2006c) VS Vivi (2005c) Master Chief has a strength of 27.47. Vivi has a strength of 27.26. Master Chief wins with 50.38% of the vote! A win of 891 with 116,571 total votes cast. they're dead even. --- xexyz |

the only way I trust a MC number is if he loses to a guy that he's
equal with -- like Sub-Zero. there's no possibility of an
overperformance there. maybe an underperformance? if anything, that

I find Fox's floor to be Ness (which I'd put around 23%) and Vivi may
have dropped a little since 2005 due to the PSX generation slowly

Oh, the Alucard/Midna/Tidus/Balthier four-pack is great, just in the
wrong location. Leon/Kirby is a great second round match. Vincent/Zelda
is a tricky second round pairing, though I no longer see
Bowser/Ganondorf as a dream match anymore (though we've seen rSFF from
Mario before...). Luigi/Magus is a tough draw, so is Ashe/Seifer.
Sephiroth/Samus is a good set-up. Riku/DK seems like a tricky matchup at first, though I don't think it's as close as it appears. Mewtwo/Raiden is good, of course. The Shadow/Zero/Kratos/Yuna four-pack is deadly as well. Kefka/Gordon has the potential to be good. The Auron/Yoshi/Sora pairing is very good (though Vercetti just needs to get outta there, even if he is just being used as fodder). Knuckles/Ryu is a tough match, as is Tifa/Dante. As for the revised bracket... Hayabusa/Toad has the potential to be good. I don't know if putting Fox against Riku is any better than against Vivi. I think Riku/Vivi would be a fantastic match, personally. I can't see Fox (or DK, for that matter) getting 45% on Yoshi before SFF. I think I like Raiden/Mewtwo better than Raiden/DK. ...Why is the PSX generation "leaving?" Because ownership is lower? I
don't own a PSX anymore. I don't recall if the poll asked if you've

I no longer see Bowser/Ganondorf as a dream match anymore (though we've seen rSFF from Mario before...) I was talking about this with Mario yesterday. a couple of years ago, that was *the* match and at least half of the stats topic said "screw the stats, Bowser takes that." now that Bowser looks a little weaker, he suddenly can't win that? that's not a match that you look to stats to answer. that's just as debatable as ever... though there's really nothing to actually say since it just depends on where you think the fans will put their loyalties. --- xexyz |

yes, I checked both of the polls. the later one says "have you owned" and the 05 one says "do you still own." however, in the earlier poll, it has only one option in which you've never owned one, so 76% of the site have at least owned one in late 2005. http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=2189 then, this poll asks if you've ever owned any of the Sony consoles. only 67% of them at least owned a PS1. so there's still a drop off. --- “Back in my day we used to actually play our videogames instead of watching them”- Vivi0198 |

I still think Bowser/Ganondorf is a good match, but it's also one of
those that could potentially be boring if the fanbase sides heavily
either way. To say Bowser held up better against Mario than Ganon did
to Link doesn't say much considering the obvious, but, you know, he
still did. Is that relevant though? I dunno, but to me it suggests that
Bowser's fanbase is less likely to desert him. I would vote Bowser over
Ganon, so, hurray for anecdotal evidence. He just seems more

| Well I think almost everyone would agree that
Ganon/Bowser would end up being a pretty terrible match (at least I
do), all the fun would come from before the match. Give me Ganon in the
match though, he's too far ahead of Bowser for my liking, but I

eh, 55/45 to Crono isn't that much worse than 52/48 to Vincent. most
stats probably put Bowser 2% behind Ganon -- that's far from being out

I'd probably take Zelda > Bowser too... I feel like Bowser should
win the match, but her damn name keeps me from taking him to do so. I
just hope its not in the bracket, there's plenty of other controversial

yeah, I feel pretty awful about the Zelda/Bowser/Ganon trio, just like
I feel awful about the Squall/Tifa/Vincent gang. you can throw Auron in
there too if you feel he belongs. everything else seems pretty easy,
but I don't like evaluating those guys against each other. --- xexyz |

problem. Zelda > Ganondorf > Bowser > Zelda? certainly

Tifa IS that much stronger than Aeris, put her in a direct match-up and I think she pummels her ass into submission. I see A > B > C > A, forming moreso among the Nintendo group... I have a hard time giving Tifa much respect when I look at what
happened to Aeris last year. that still baffles me. I can't see those
two being all that different in trends.. so if you think Tifa's always
been that much stronger than Aeris and she took Aeris's spot in 2003,
we'd have no concept of a Noble Nine. none. I have a hard time
believing that Tifa could reverse a 57/43 beatdown. --- xexyz |

I just think Tifa is FF7's third right now, though she may be tied for
it with Vincent, I don't know how the Square fanbase works. But she's
always seemed to be a strong force, and Zelda, I just don't see Zelda

Seeing that Zelda resisted SFF against Mega Man while Yoshi did not, I
feel pretty good saying Bowser would not rSFF Zelda (and Bowser's
definitely not stronger). I would say the same thing about Ganondorf as
Zelda, except I've lost a little confidence in him since he did worse
than Zelda against Samus. I would still take Ganondorf over Bowser

I think it's the other way around, actually.. Zelda would be the one
doing the "rSFFing". Bowser was always thought of as being above Zelda
until 2006, where the female bracket and Samus-Nintendo matches are in
the way of gauging Zelda properly. --- xexyz |

I just can't see Zelda being less popular than Bowser anymore... in
SC2K3 she was just barely behind Bowser, and Zelda 2K5 is above Bowser
