Although the hype for Halo 3 isn't NEAAAARLY as big as the hype for
Halo 2. That was probably the most hyped video game...well, ever
honestly. I remember seeing commercials for it on hundreds of

I agree in that Halo 3 doesn't seem as
hyped, but some of the pre-order numbers floating around for months are

I'll have to dig a bit, and they're mostly rumors at this point. The
next time I read any info, I'll make sure to post it here. Regardless,
even if the hype isn't as big, the sales numbers may very well be. If
Gears of War, a brand new IP released when the 360 had a significantly

It can destroy, but keep in mind what exactly that means for Halo
related entities on GameFAQs, because the Nintendo incline is still

Wow, didn't know it sold that much. I
thought it still around the 2 million mark. That's damn impressive
given that the next-gen user bases are still relatively small. Uh, you

As far as I can tell, Fenix has been getting little board love. If he

Just for those millions of fans that were mentioning my name on the analysis crew: I should be in. Moltar got in touch with me about it, and I still wanna do it. I may not be posting as much in here... but that's just because I really don't have anything to talk about right now. It all seems as if it's been talked to death. Last year we had a contest in between and series contest results to yap about right now. The results of last year's contest? Old news at this point. Basically, I need a bracket. On the topic of the Analysis Crew, my preferred way to analyze fodder matches is to try to have fun with it. I think I was pretty decent at it too, if I may say so myself. Sonic/CATS and Zelda/Carmen Sandiego were golden write ups, dammit! And uh.. others too! Hey, there's a bracket there, maybe I'll talk about it in a sec. (Oh damn I was supposed to build up hype about me not being in, eh?) --- Lopen is bye bye. Now is ninja time. |

Cool, it seemed to get better as it went along. I'll leave a few comments for each divison. 1: Eh, it's okay. The only match that would give trouble would be Marcus Fenix/Phoenix Wright, and that's only because I don't really know (care <_<) about either character. Otherwise Link > Kirby. 2: I really like this one, except for Frog. He's better than an 8 seed, no, although, he's probably never going to get back in anyway. Vincent/Zelda is very cool (I'd take Zelda), Ganon/Bowser is nice, but I wouldn't want to see that in the first round. Mega/Winner, Zelda/Vincent, and the winner of that are all fun to speculate on. 3: This one's sort of just okay. We've seen Solid Snake/Squall enough times that I'd rather they're just not near each other. Crono/Squall isn't an upset that's going to happen anyway, so it doesn't really matter here. I don't see Vivi beating DK and losing to Fox, but that match is worth a second glance. 4: This is a pretty good division. I don't care for Seph/Aeris, but I'm sure it's funny enough for some. Luigi/Magus is a legit match, I'd go with Luigi without too much hardship. Ashe/Seifer is interesting, I haven't played XII (but I haven't heard that much about it either), so I'd pick Seifer. The Samus/Seph rematch is very very awesome. 5: This is a tough division for me, nice work. Banjo feels wasted, I would take Riku over the consistently disappointing DK. I might take Alucard over Midna due to bias, because (and I haven't beaten TP yet) I really don't think Midna deserves to be in the contest; she's really quite annoying. Balthier/Tidus is nice for obvious reasons, I'd stick with Tidus, and I'd probably take him over the winner of Mid/Alu. 6: Another really tough division. I would stick to MC, but I'm a devoted contest fan of his. I'm sure it's a match he could lose, though. Mewtwo/Raiden is really tricky; I'd go for Mewtwo, ssbm > convoluted MG, yeah, I said it. (Note, I do like MG, but you can't pretend it isn't convoluted, those endings?) Shadow as a 3 wouldn't happen, but who cares, seeing if he could take our recently blemished Zero is a good match. I doubt he would. Kratos/Yuna is also respectable, give me Kratos ftw. I would take MC and Zero, but would think about Kratos. If it were MC/Zero, he'd probably lose, if it were MC/Kratos, I would take MC. Yeah, I know, makes a lot of sense. 7: Like I said, it gets better as it goes along. Kefka/Gordon I wouldn't know what to do with, I might just take Gordon. As a devout Yoshi fanboy, give me Yoshi here. Sora beats Vercetti without too much trouble. I would take Yoshi over Sora, but Auron might have a better shot, look what Aeris did, after all, even way back when. Sora might be able to pull it off either way. 8: This one is just okay. Wario is wasted, give me Ryu over Knux without too much trouble. Tifa over Dante. Mario over Tifa. --- Congratulations to Rufus Shinra, winner of the 2k6 Guru Character Battle contest! |

yeah, I was going through trying to think of some interesting 8s and
was like 'aw hell, why not, let's throw Aeris to Sephiroth.' it's
really not any different than if I chose a different rally winner - I
didn't have any plans to include Aeris in the bracket after her

Random comments about the bracket: Division 1: Kirby seems utterly wasted in division 1. I think there's some mystery where Kirby stands, but I'll be damned if I don't have him running over Subs and Leon and then getting squashed by Link. I do like the other three members of the four pack very much, though. I could see a case being made for him running over Subs and Akuma instead. Or Subs beating Leon/Akuma if Kirby wasn't there. Division 2: Mega Man is being challenged. I love this division, though I think Hayabusa might be a bit wasted there. There's probably a fodder you can put in his place, or a challenge. Division 3: Fun, but I don't consider Squall much more than a speed bump, and that's a shame. Crono may be showing some age, but I don't see a Squall > Crono bandwagon starting yet. Division 4: I don't like that Toad is being put into a potential SFF match. Actually, I don't really like that he's in a fodder slot. He has potential to be tricky to place, I think. Sephiroth vs Aeris.. heh, maybe a waste of Aeris, but it's kinda worth it. Division 5: This is as about as good as you can get for a division with Cloud in it. Every match not involving Cloud is debatable to me, and at the same time he's not chopping down any true powerhouses. Division 6: Or as I like to call it.. Division Lopen Bait? I would argue for Raiden to take it if I didn't see Zero there. Lots of potential winners in this one, I love it, though I think Zero should be somewhere else. Bad match with Luigi or not, he's still got some kick in him. Division 7: Sora/Auron/Yoshi is kinda debatable. I'm not sure where I side with this. Usually I'd say that it'd be nice to see Sora get a juicy 7 seed that people might bite on... but I think he's proven himself at this point. Division 8: Knux/Ryu is interesting. Dante/Tifa too. Though I'd like to see three potential winners of the bottom half as opposed to two. Perhaps Squall could give up his job as a speed bump up there. Beyond the 8 packs I like that you've set up for a potential Cloud/Mario rematch later. Mario/Sonic is a match that needs to happen already. I think I'd like to see Cloud/Link earlier. I'm not sure they're lock for the finals, but it's nice to not even have the idea that the finals are locked in any fashion. --- Lopen is bye bye. Now is ninja time. |

I don't like that Toad is being put into a potential SFF match. Actually, I don't really like that he's in a fodder slot. I didn't know what to do with Samus, so I thought throwing her a fellow Nintendo character would be interesting since she always struggles with those. thinking about it now, Samus/Wario would probably have been smarter, but eh. no matter what you do with Toad, he's probably not going to be in a winnable match unless you flat out set it up that way. I didn't have any room to set something up that way. Knux/Ryu is interesting. Dante/Tifa too. Though I'd like to see three potential winners of the bottom half as opposed to two. Perhaps Squall could give up his job as a speed bump up there. not a bad idea (though I think Squall would be a half step above everyone else in this fourpack)... but what do you do with the 2 seed in Snake's division? *Takes a look at tranny's bracket because I have insomnia and couldn't fall asleep* ~1~ (1) Link (8) Bidoof Great squash match to get Link in the main bracket. I'm kind of curious to see what kind of numbers Bidoof could put up here. (4) Marcus Fenix (5) Phoenix Wright Not too shabby, lets us get a nice read on Fenix's strength. (3) Kirby (6) Sub-Zero I dig this one a lot. Somewhat of an early bracket buster, maybe even similar to something along the lines of Ness/CJ perhaps? I'm thinking Sub could take it in a close one, even with the pro-Nintendo attitude lately. (2) Leon Kennedy (7) Akuma Great way to see if Akuma is fodder or anything. I think he'd lose regardless, but we'd get a decent read on him. Not so bad of a division. We get better readings on a few characters and get to see how well Link can squash hos. Decent. ~2~ (1) Mega Man (8) Frog I'm not feeling this match for some reason. It makes sense for Chrono Trigger characters to be losing some seeding this year yes, but I think Frog might actually embarrass Mega Man a little here. Not beat him or anything, but make him look laughable to other 1st seeds. (4) Bowser (5) Ganondorf Excellent! I've been urging to see this match since the Villains Contest. For some reason I see Bowser SFFing Ganon slightly. I think he's a bit more of a recognizable villain than Ganon. (3) Vincent Valentine (6) Ryu Hayabusa Ryu H gettin the shaft after a PS3 remake of a great game for him? Sure that probably doesn't mean much, but still. I'd like to see him somewhere else. Yeah, Vinny Mac would dominate here. (2) Zelda (7) Gilgamesh Poor old Gilgamesh! Vincent/Zelda would be a killer match though. Especially given Zelda's really small part in TP, wondering just how high a boost for her would extend. Vincent would take it, but by how much? ~3~ (1) Solid Snake (8) Klonoa Nice fodder choice! Umm...what else can I say here? (4) Fox McCloud (5) Vivi Another cool way to see if Fox is ready for the field, but it sucks that'd he would be fed to a hungry Snake, pardon the pun, HO HO! (3) Crono (6) Nightmare Damn, Crono got demoted badly. 3rd seed? Geez. (2) Squall (7) CATS Nice setup here, but I think Crono still has enough in the tank to SFF Squall and then got thwomped by Snake. This division is a little poor IMO, but not all divisions can be killer. One thing that would help this division out however is perhaps switching Nightmare and Vivi's places, but perhaps that's just personal preference sticking out. ~4~ (1) Sephiroth (8) Aeris hahaha this is just funny for the obvious pun your pulling here. nice. GameFAQs would have a riot with this. (4) Luigi (5) Magus Holy crap what a nice match. Luigi would squash another one of my all time favorite characters. But it's cool, I like Luigi. (3) Ashe (6) Seifer Hmm odd match we have here. Two untested Square characters. Something tells me Ashe would pull it off. I have a strange feeling that FF12 characters are going to do well. Don't ask me why, but I do. (2) Samus (7) Toad lol Toad. Replace this fodder with Tron plz >_> Samus/Seph has great potential, no doubt. Samus would probably take it with the good old night vote. Seph/Luigi is strange though...Luigi could possibly pull a Frog/Snake if given a pic advantage. Or perhaps I'm stepping out of line there, who knows. ~5~ (1) Cloud (8) Banjo God damn, I wanted Banjo to get a 6th seed at least! :P (4) Riku (5) Donkey Kong DK edges Riku out by riding Nintendo's coat tails. (3) Midna (6) Alucard Yay Midna! Can you tell I've been playing Twilight Princess lately? This match is perfect to test her strength. If she does well enough, she could totally be a threat to Kratos >_> I'll give Alucard the XBL small boost benefit of the doubt and say this goes 54-46 however. (2) Balthier (7) Tidus I don't know if Balthier could SFF Tidus or not. Signs point to yes right now though. Balthier/Midna would be a fantastic match. Midna would take the cake though, no idea by how much. Cloud eats this division alive though of course. ~6~ (1) Master Chief (8) KOS-MOS Poor ol KOS-MOS turns into MC fodder. (4) Mewtwo (5) Raiden ****, Mewtwo is gonna get screwed here. Sure Pokemon D/P and being in Melee...but come on, look how much hype Raiden is getting! I haven't seen Mewtwo in Brawl yet, so I say he loses! (3) Shadow (6) Zero Zero loses for the point of next gen Sonic, even if next gen Sonic sucks, it's better than nothing at all. Sorry Zero ol pal, but your losing similiar to the way you lost to Luigi. Well probably not quite as bad. (2) Kratos (7) Yuna Aww yeah, Kratos is gonna own Yuna, and then beat down Shadow. I can dig that. This is probably the best division right here, because Kratos/MC would make the casuals splooge. ~7~ (1) Sonic (8) Ike Bah. I just don't care. (4) Kefka (5) Gordon Freeman Good loser's fight here. Kefka goes down and people pretend that Gordon is never gonna lose in the first round ever again. (3) Auron (6) Yoshi Auron takes Yoshi but not with ease. Signs of Sub-Zero/Auron will come back into play and he won't be able to double Yoshi me thinks. (2) Sora (7) Tommy Vercetti Vercetti? WTF is he doing back? Auron/Sora is cool, but there's a bit too much SFF in this bracket so far for my taste. Testing Sonic against Auron/Sora isn't a bad idea though. ~8~ (1) Mario (8) Wario BOO! Poor Wario gets squashed. (4) Knuckles (5) Ryu Knuckles can't beat Ryu. I don't care if Ryu has no reason to boost or anything. Ryu is consistent and won't job to Knuckles. (3) Tifa (6) Pac-Man another WTF moment at Pac-Man still hanging around. I love the Pac but he's getting Jug Factor'd >_> (2) Dante (7) Rikku Nice last match here. Dante gets to **** a hooker up <_< Dante/Tifa has some pretty cool potential. As does Ryu/Mario, seeing if Ryu can avoid being doubled by yet another Noble 9 as that tradition continues. Here are my suggestions for swaps: Swap Kirby and Ryu Hayabusa. Swap Squall and Gilgamesh (Kleenex's rally paid off BIG... yeap. Oh come on, we always have one fluke of a seed). Swap Aeris and Pac Man. (eh, sacrificing the joke is worth it) Swap Toad and Kefka/Freeman (totally just me being biased. I say it's just as hard to call, though) --- Lopen is bye bye.
