Well if a guy by the name of Kratos can do all the wonders you guys predict of him(beating Dante perhaps), perhaps one day he can break the Noble Nine hmm? >_>

I can't see Kratos beating the Noble Nine.

If you look at the NN, all of them are really old characters that are pretty much iconic, which is what seperates them from most of the non-noble nine.

I'd imagine the Noble Nine would have already been "broken" by the time Kratos got GoW3.

just thought I'd say that Ganondorf could have beaten Vincent the very next day given how close the match was. he doesn't really need much to go his way.

I don't really see how a 52.6-47.4 match is going to turn around in one days time. I think you're giving way too much credit to random deviation.

I dunno bout you guys, but I think we should put Shadow in whatever division Kratos and Zero are in, assuming Shadow can make the cut. Put Magus, Frog, and Knuckles in there, and you've got a hell of a division.

Vincent only beat Ganondorf by 6k something votes. we've seen that changed over a year in many cases.

Yes, we've seen matches change over the course of a year that we're decided 6,636 votes or more, I'm sure, but once again, that's over the course of a year. I've never said that Ganon can't beat Vincent this year, just that I personally wouldn't take that pick. I'm saying to say that the outcome could change the next day, is insane. The outcome isn't going to change day to day when the margin of victory was more than 5% of the total amount of votes. That's a big sway for absolutely no reason other than it being the next day.

Zero > Knuckles > Shadow > Kratos > Magus > Frog

Shadow/Mario was a fluke. One that I doubt would be repeated.

Finally, a new contest in the air. I'm taking a look at Vincent, myself. I want to see if the time since Cerberus is going to actually make him stronger, as I still believe Dirge had a negative effect on him.

Also, I'm lookin' for a Bidoof match.

Knuckles > Shadow? The two were about equal before Shadow got his own game... granted, the game wasn't exactly received well, but even if it doesn't boost him to Mega Man levels (which wouldn't be too much really, since Mega Man is going DOWN this year n_n) it should at least get him above that rat. Unless there's some rSFF or something.

Well he already did get 45% on Mario. Maybe it's not transferable strength to say Cloud, but there's still no reason why he wouldn't do the same again.

And if Knuckles beat Magus, x stats dictate that Shadow would beat him easier.

he lost a close match with 2004 Tidus. Then Knuckles outperformed Kirby on Squall. Then Kirby got 57% on Tidus. I don't think Shadow's anywhere near Knuckles in popularity even with his own game.

He went close with maybe the same Tidus who almost beat Ganon. There are many spins you can put on it. But fact is that Knuckles has never beaten Shadow in the x stats.

And yet his 35% on MM still put him ahead of Knuckles. This is all before the Sonic boost and the MM decline it's worth adding.

I doubt Vincent would've even gotten into the contest without AC and DoC.

He did in 2k5.

I would take Knuckles > Shadow on nothing but the principle of the matter. I don't hate Shadow or anything now, but I just can't think that Shadow is more favored in the Sonic fanbase than Knuckles, x-stats or no.

x-stats shouldn't even be looked at when discussing Knuckes vs. Shadow. they should be looked at if you're talking about who's actually stronger indirectly, but comparing the two directly using stats is just a mistake.

Chrono Trigger decline. Higher votals = bad news for Magus.

Just to clarify, if Knuckles/Magus happened in 2k4, Magus would have won handily. I mean, just look at Crono for instance. At one point he was toe to toe with Mario, now he's at the bottom of the NN barrel losing matches to Sonic.

I imagine Knuckles/Magus and Shadow/Magus could change on any given day, but that Knuckles/Shadow would be pretty consistent one way or another (I doubt SFF-matches have as much variation)...I just don't know which one would win.

I'm in no hurry for the bracket.. the contest starts september 1 no matter what, and a bracket just means we're going to overargue the same five matches to death once we get it. I'll be all right if we don't get it until the end of the week.

Sonic is at a severe disadvantage after his horrible 360 game that managed to kill off most of the fanbase and mark the remainder as obsessive closeted furries with a taste of bad fan fiction/art.

Before anyone says it: my username was made back in 2001 when new Sonic games had potential.

I agree September 1 is a good estimate for a contest start. Bracket will be up in a few days, a few weeks for registration then a good start.

Yeah, it's great because everyone debates the right first-round, then the hypothetical later matches that haven't been determined yet. Then who will win each division followed by which division is the easiest to predict.

The first-round is the most boring as it's the A-list characters blowing out the fodder (which leads to some debate as to who is the Tanner of the Year) with the odd eyebrow-raising match and down-to-the-wire matches.

Though the final few matches aren't as fun as they were as the Clinkeroth trio tends to clean house. Last year was fun with the isolation of that trio into another bracket, wonder if we'll see that again this year.
