Shadow would do good, but I didn't really feel like giving him a
nomination. I'm alright with him too since I played SA2:B...just didn't
wanna give him one, ha. About Samus, it's worth mentioning that -- while the 32/64-bit systems have been declining here -- Samus has completely been on the rise since then and has nothing notable from that era (aside from being in SSB). She still has old-school support with Super Metroid, and she'll have the newest big game at the start of this contest (though Helo 3 will interrupt that after the contest starts). Nintendo's coming into this year than last year, too -- we've got the Wii being the most owned console from this generation and the DS keeps going up. Samus might actually surprise if the N64/PS1 ownership going down affects much here. I doubt it does...but at the same time, classics such as FF7, LoZ:OoT, SM64, and MGS come from that era. CT was also ported and has decent ownership here. That could affect up to six Noble Niner's here, and only SM64 isn't the most important game to the NN'er in question. Samus is NNOOTT about to beat Mario and probably doesn't beat Sephiroth...but we could see a bit of shake-up in the numbers that favor Samus. Before anybody says it, I know people can sell systems after they're done with them or can play games through emulation or through a friend. It's merely something to keep an eye out for, and Samus would be the biggest product of such an effect if it happens since Sonic and Mega Man weren't exactly note-worthy since the 32/64-era. Well I would never take her over Mario, because of obvious reasons, but
I still firmly believe she's stronger than him when put up against a

Samus is the only major character with a new game coming out during the
contest. (sorry Master Chief, you don't count.) warrants mentioning. ..Phantom Hourglass doesn't count since Link wins anyway. --- xexyz |

?????? Wow, 35% of GameFAQs so far doesn't care about GTA at all? Yeah,
that pretty much confirms that those GotY polls were probably the
source of a very hardcore fanbase rather than the large number of PS2

I thought of a match today that might be interesting if both characters
can get in. Toad vs. Frog. Toad getting in might be a stretch but he is
doing well in the nom rallies. I can't personally imagine him being
much weaker then Peach but even the Peach/Frog match is a mess thanks
to Frog's great consistency. Frog has to have gone down like Crono we
would assume but who knows with him... So yeah Toad vs. Frog fun match

give me Frog. though I'm not going to make much sense with this, I
believe Toad is actually weaker than Peach at least indirectly simply
because him not being playable in SSBM is going to hurt him a bit,
that, and Mario Kart has proven not to be all too popular here. I say Toad is somewhere between Peach and Wario and I'd already struggle with Frog > Peach, so I may as well take him over Toad too. --- Network Premiere of: "GA All The Way." Watch one black kid's desperate search for his Wii. |

Mario Kart is with the Kingdom Hearts's, Castlevania's, and such...that's not bad at all. I'd rather not see Frog in another contest - although he had exciting
matches in 2k4, he wasn't that strong to begin with and he's only
declined since then. Crono and Magus are enough representation from CT
unless some character were to appear in a KH type game or a direct

Frog's not nearly as strong as 2k4 implied or even what most people
expected him to be - and BT's drivel concerning him makes it hard to
begrudge him what little credibility he has left - but he did beat
pre-KH2 Riku. 30% on Samus isn't exactly horrid if you take 2k5 Samus =
2k6 Samus. And considering the massive overrating of Tifa (and thus

Every character in Frog's range is as capable for exciting matches as
Frog. He was just lucky enough to be in them. MC was in Frog's most
classic match, MC/Liquid would have been mighty close, MC against Solid
**** in his worst year would scream for over-performance, MC/Riku
pre-KH2 would have been good (if not better -- MC is 0/3 against Square
characters, afterall.....), and I bet MC would have done better than
30% against Samus as well given how well he did against Crono. Throw in
that MC's getting a new game mid-contest while Frog's going another

And also, if you think MC would have come that close to Snake no matter
what the picture or the year, you're nuts. The anti-votes don't care

I don't think SB would allow MC to get snubbed. That's just begging for

Yeah, technically your logic kind of gives room for Sub-Zero(and by
that means Auron) equal ground with Frog as long as Solid **** and what
