Thing is, Knuckles/Dante is a stone's throw away from asking who wins
Knuckles/Yoshi. And while I'd *like* to take Knux there, recently I've
been thinking it's a pipe dream. I'd also take Dante over Yoshi this
year, for previously stated reasons (a better picture or DMC4 hype

I take Yoshi over Dante by more this year than last year. DMC4 hype? if
it's out there, I'm deaf. besides, the only real 'hype' I've seen for

from last topic I think you're underestimating Knuckles, personally.. look at how nice Sonic looked in 2k6. look how well Knuckles did vs. Squall. heck, 2k5 stats say Knuckles and Dante are dead even. No, not really. I know they are about even. But I'm not assuming that Knuckles is increasing at the same rate as Sonic. Sonic is getting all of the recent spotlight. Not Knuckles. I'm giving Dante the edge because he went almost dead even with Yoshi. Watch KH...Yoshi will be revealed to be in SMG, then Dante dies...not likely but would be hilarious But SSBB should boost any mid carders reveiled in the game...DMC4 is still a ways off, is it not? --- Our shields cannot withstand wavedashing of this magnitude! well, I think Yoshi = Luigi > Knuckles/Dante/Zero, with all of them
being really, realllllllly close to each other. I just think people
will side with the Sonic mascot over the Capcom character. and I probably shouldn't bring it up since it's not really relevant, but that 70/30 that Sonic put on DMC makes me pause more than once. --- xexyz |

DMC4's no further off than MGS4 - sure, they're not even in the same realm of buzz, but every little bit helps. And I really doubt - no, I'll just come out and say it: SSB/SSBM characters being "revealed" for SSBB is not gonna give them a boost. I... can't.... take it any more!!!! What the hell am I doing arguing against my favorite 2 characters?????? There's no way in hell that Dante is beating Zero. Zero took a nice 48% chunk out of Sonic! He's a beast. And Dante had trouble beating Tails out of all people. Sonic also ripped him a new one right afterwards. you underestimate how rabid the Smash fanbase is, HM. f5 buttons have
been destroyed thanks to that damn website. it's not going to turn an
unknown character into a midcarder, but it will certainly provide a

Someone like Ike boosting - sure, that makes sense. People didn't know/care about him before, that's natural. People are not going to the site and going, "OMG YOSHI'S IN SSB... Plus, it's not exactly impossible that we'll get a trailer showing off
the newbies between now and the first round of the contest. Not quite

If it's just "general hype" then it shouldn't matter if the character
is revealed for the game or not. Especially if it's a given that

Yeah. For reasons beyond my understanding, it is a point that people
can start loving on a new character that gets announced. But I was
specifically thinking of someone like Yoshi -- or those of the same ilk

I'll eat my shoe if anyone boosts from being announced in Brawl via site update. Well, duh. Most of the Smashers of note will be getting in regardless of when they're announced. It's just that this is a chance for people who wouldn't normally be even given a second thought (Ike, Meta, Pit) to have a shot at making the bracket. And who's to say that there won't be another big Brawl trailer between now and release? Not likely to be bigger than Snake's, but it could happen, which is one reason to be careful. It's not like Nintendo doesn't have a ton of other reasons to boost
anyway. The Wii being the dominant next-gen console here, any further
influx of Ninty fans, so forth... takes away from the predictability a

Well sorry if I worded it wrongly, I didnt mean to imply site
updates...but Yoshi boosting for a new SSBB games has just as much
basis as Dante boosting from a DMC were his isnt the main character and
that isnt coming out until next year... Bascially you get a small boost or nothing at all...though Yoshi doesnt have Yoshi DS...though its a year removed from its lauch so I think any effect it neglible --- Our shields cannot withstand wavedashing of this magnitude! Even if Dante isn't the main character of DMC4, it still means a lot
more to him than SSBB means for Yoshi. Dante has many less games, comes
from a MUCH less popular series, and even if he's not the main
character he's at least going to be *very* important and badass (heck,
I think "Snake in MGS2" whenever I see stuff about DMC4). Just stacking
up those two alone makes me favor Dante. Now of course, Yoshi's game potentially being OUT during the contest while Dante's is still some ways off is different, absolutely. Yeah. Yoshi's Island DS was actually pretty huge, selling over a
million copies in America alone. Pretty sure he'll be getting a nice
boost from that (ie a percent or two). --- Rapid analysis, accurate judgment, and superb powers of concentration. That is all we need. |

I gotta say though...Ike picked the right time to get announced...also
Reggie said that its was likely we'd get another big SSBB announcement
(trailer basically) in Sept during one of Nintendo's own events...I'm
betting that its will pertain to third party characters and that could
really shake up the N9...are any elites likely to get announced,

boost from that (ie a percent or two). Eh, I don't. I forget that Yoshi is really the star of the game. The spotlight is really on the babies. If Yoshi gets a 1-2% boost then you'd have to think that Mario, Peach, and DK (probably Bowser too) would get boosts as well. Something that I definitely don't think is happening. Plus Yoshi's already pretty damn popular. I'm betting that its will pertain to third party characters and that
could really shake up the N9...are any elites likely to get announced,
Nintendo or otherwise, that havent been in Brawl yet? I don't know... general hopeful wishing I've heard would point to the Blue Nobles (Sonic and Mega), but outside of that I don't see anyone outside of the company who could make a splash in the contest. meh, Sonic beat Luigi 60/40, and MM "SFF'd" Yoshi. no one else is going
to be able to do anything like that. your best bet is Ganondorf, I
guess. maybe Bowser. and neither's going to beat Sonic or Mega Man. you'd need a new huge series like MGS in order to top them. --- xexyz |
