| Fable 2 isn't coming out this year, it might not even come out until 2009. What the hell is it doing on the poll? Folklore is most likely mid-2008 so I'm not sure why that is there either. Blue Dragon shouldn't be on the list as well, pretty much no one is looking forward to that game if you can believe it and there are TONS of games that are more anticipated and hyped than it. No Bioshock?! It's the most anticipated game of the year on ANY system for a lot of people. |

Blue Dragon shouldn't be on the list as well, pretty much no one is
looking forward to that game if you can believe it and there are TONS
of games that are more anticipated and hyped than it. Um, this is GameFAQs. Sakaguchi JRPG = massive hype. And I thought that Bioshock was coming out on PC? --- Rapid analysis, accurate judgment, and superb powers of concentration. That is all we need. |

YES. GTA always makes discussion in these contests exciting. The hype
surrounding GTA 4 come contest-time should make the match interesting.

It seemed like a good idea at the time, but the quality of the nominations was too, um, specialized. A lot of gaming of the nominations going on, so it was hard to get a feel for which quotes would actually do well and seed them properly. Plus, it was kind of hard to pick out 32 decent quotes from the lot. All is not lost, though, as I plan to find a good use for the submissions in the next few months. 2) Game Contest - Not this year. People do tend to get stuck on their favorite games, so I want just a little more distance before we do this one again to avoid a full repeat of the original results. 3) Character Battle - Nominations soon, contest likely to start September 1. Will be a departure from the previous years, just to mix things up a bit. Feel free to speculate wildly. --- Once upon a time everything was lovely, but that was before I had to deal with people. | I haven't seen any nomination drive for the Prince of Persia, but I think he really needs to come back again, he did pretty good against Kirby. He also should be higher than where the lol x-stats put him. |

| why should he be higher? I mean I'm as big of a
PoP proponent as anybody, but there's nothing to say he should be
higher than where he is. I do believe he could beat some people above
him in the stats, but that's just random variation and whatnot, there's
no reason to say his number is skewed though. I'd love to see him back in, but I'm not nearly devoted enough to this site anymore to run a nomination rally for him, plus it probably wouldn't get anywhere near the support he did last year (even prior to him winning the nom rally), but I'd absolutely love to see him back in, and would support any type of formal rally. It really pisses me off, because I know he'll never get as many noms as he did last year, and if you take the female bracket out of it, he has a seriously legit chance at winning a match with a top seed. --- Explicit Content. I'll vote for PoP, but I'm not nominating him. I...just don't care that
much for the cause now that he's been in. He's probably stronger now
that the PSP and Wii games are out, and if Samus/Solid (...or
Solid/Sonic) had an anomaly then it would probably favor him too. That said, he's still not doing very grand. The main question that revolved around him has been answered: he's no Kratos. Though he impressed against Kirby, Kirby and Luigi both probably fell a bit shy of expectations. He has had his shot and he had huge NRT support...and he hasn't had any real big games since then either. There's just not much more reason to vote for the guy unless you're a fan of him. I like the guy, but given that six of my nominations are already pledged and that there are several other characters I enjoy more, he's not getting a nomination from me. I don't see him returning, is all...but if he does, it's legit and I would expect him to improve from last year. --- PETITION: a "Contest Suggestions" board. luigi disappoint? most people around here had him losing to zero, yet
he went on to beat him and then kirby on top of that. I really don't

I agree him beating Zero like he did was impressive, but then he went
under expectations against Sonic. I would call it more of Zero

I would consider Luigi's contest a success - he beat not 1 but 2 people
he was supposed to be weaker than. His match against Sonic was a little
disappointing, but not terrible considering that this isn't 2k3 Sonic

I don't think you can judge characters by their final match only.
x-stats aren't the end-all, and everyone in this topic said that match
could potentially be strange before and during the match. Luigi was the

If you want my honest opinion, I think with the large amount of voter
influx, iconic characters like Luigi/Sonic got a boost over someone
less known like Zero, which resulted in the wrong 2-7 match being an
upset and what seemed to be a tanked up Sonic that wound up getting

At the very least, it looks like Luigi has made up ground on Bowser
since their first appearance, so I think it's conceivable for Luigi to
overtake Bowser sometime in this generation of games... too bad I don't

Luigi/Bowser? Tough to say. Last year's Bowser definitely seemed off
his game, especially compared to his 2k5 self, and the fact that every
Nintendo character around him boosted through the roof. Then again,

CJayC announces his departure from GameFAQs today. Says he will make
sure the Character battle is ready to go before leaving. Sailor Bacon
will take over I think someone, preferably someone who is on speaking terms with SB, should send him an email and ask him how he feels about the contests. Explain that in the past 6 months B8 has been feeling pretty abandoned, and we just want some confirmation that we have a future here. --- Applekidjosh at work AKJ. I posted this in another topic: "In all actuality, I am worried about what happens to the contests. It's not simply just creating the bracket. There's the legal issues behind eligibility, prizes, etc. There's the handling of the polls and match pics. And there's the handling of preventing mass cheating from going on. Do you guys think Sailor Bacon would be up to being as dedicated to that as Ceej is? And I doubt they'd be paying someone else to run contests, nor do I think they'd give a volunteer that much access to the site..." Made a topic about this, but posting it here makes sense: I'm already reading the nervous whispers regarding future contests - What if they're few and far between? What if they're shut down for good? What if this board is forgotten/shut down for good? Personally, I don't see too much cause for concern. CJayC has stated that he wants his departure to be slow, steady, and ultimately unnoticeable. He wants a business-as-usual atmosphere to follow his departure, which leads me to believe that Sailor Bacon will do his best to preserve the future contest scene. Heck, he may be bursting with contest ideas of his own - I appreciate Ceej's work very much, but it's pretty clear that the guy was getting burned out in general, so Bacon's handling of the reigns may actually be a move that spurs contest creativity and regularity. I wouldn't even be too shocked if he, gasp, let this board have some say in the contest creation process (it's been talked about before, but I think this change in leadership could be the first step in realizing those talks), and that would be a pretty awesome day for us all. =) |

I actually wouldn't want this board to have a say in what happened with
the next contest, just because I think most of the boards ideas
relating to contests are crap. We'd probably end up seeing something on
par with a female villains contest. Now if the say were given to stat
topic regulars and the like, and be all for it, but that would be
pretty impossible to do. And yes, I know that sounds incredibly
elitist, and it is, but meh, I just think we'd be left with ass for a
contest if the board had its say, I mean, I've seen some really, really
bad ideas been tossed around and agreed with. I still think it'd be incredibly badass though if like 5 people or something were picked from our board and put onto something of a contest crew, but that has no chance of ever happening. --- Explicit Content.
