okay, that I agree with. I find that when you've got a decent
ownership but a small library, you sell a lot more of each individual
game. TOS seems to be the best example from the last generation -
compare it to TOTA and it's a joke. Or look at the N64: in 1996, 1997, and 1998 it had the best-selling game of the year. You're critically forgetting about install base. Surely you're not expecting 4 million sales for an average game on any of this gen's systems yet are you? Not 4 million for an average game, no. Sonic Heroes did far better than the average. Sonic Next Gen, however, is getting decimated sales-wise by stuff like Crackdown, though. That's a big dropoff. Heh. Europeans are usually the one's you have to worry about when it comes to Sonic. They seem to eat them up for whatever reason. The Sonic games last gen sold like crap on Xbox. Almost all their sales
were from GCN/PS2. 360 is a similar fanbase to Xbox and I doubt PS3 has
the Sonic fanbase buying it. The move to make a game for the systems

A lot of things could beat God on this site. I'd take anyone down to
Ryu Hayabusa over God. He just doesn't have the fanbase here. Although
he'd probably be like a mini Master Chief in that he has group that'll
vote him over anybody. I stress mini. MC takes him easy, 58%+. --- Lopen is bye bye. Now is ninja time. |

Today's poll shows that either RE can SFF SH by virtue of being far and
away the most popular survival-horror series or that FE over-performed
on MG. The proof of this is that if SH got every vote in this poll that
didn't go to RE, then apply their percentages to a constant RE in the
Series Contest...that would put Silent Hill at Suikoden's level, and
don't forget that Suikoden was behind LoZ/MMX. That doesn't do FE any
favors either, as that would put it a little above Harvest Moon... ...unless, of course, you'd rather believe RE4's Wii-make boosted its entire series THIS much. There's obviously some overlap between RE and SH (as anyone who is
familiar with both series can attest), but they have VERY different
fanbases all the same. It's not enough to turn a doubling into a

RE is projected to get a mere doubling on SH... it's more just a
commentary on the Series Contest stats than anything else. I'm not

Now this is a silly poll. Resident evil
quintupling Silent Hill, and Silent Hill simultaneously quintupling the

I fully expect Mario Kart to decimate. F-Zero and Gran Turismo would be
the only other series that wouldn't be fighting to see which is the
least favorite, and even then F-Zero is going to lose a whole lot of
its support to MK... ...ha, also imagine a party-game poll. Halo as a party game... yes... I really do think that'd be funny. I'd
like to see Final Fantasy thrown into "favorite racing series" and see
if it still wins. After all, we do have Chocobo Racing...!! And that
mini game in FFX and FFVII! Who thinks Mario Kart could beat FF in a best racing series poll? I think the people are smart enough to not vote for it. It'd still get way more votes than it deserves, but... man... I bet MK and maybe even Gran Turismo both take it. Now if LoZ were put in the racing poll... It'd be an interesting experiment. so.. how do you think Guitar Hero would fair in a games contest? I only
expect it to go up from here, as it seems more casual friendly than
other game on the list, the only thing that might throw a wrench into

Guitar Hero 2 would do fair enough. It would probably be high-end
fodder or something...it wouldn't be unreasonable to see it win a

Depends on who GH goes up against. It's not the type of game that will be a lot of people's favorites,
so it would probably get crushed by a widely popular game. But throw it

GH is fun and all, but it's a niche genre. its ceiling is not as high

And once GH2 is out on the Wii, it'll have three systems of popularity

GTA-level? Nu-uh. I don't think GH2 could even get 40% on SSBM, much let be GTA-level (and we saw GTA:VC in the Game Contest, the weakest of the three GTA games). Just curious friends...but what game that doesn't use a typical controller (GH, DH, DDR, etc.) do you think would be the strongest game here? Too long to have much replay value for me. FFX won GotY when it was only out for two weeks...and Metroid Prime had
about as much time as Guitar Hero 2 did, and it won GotY as well. Same
for LoZ:TP. Of course, that's an exception, and I know you're not trying to put GH2 on FFX's or LoZ:TP's level...but to be on GTA's level, you're gonna want to match MP, and the time-issue is of no concern when you compare those two. A port to the 360 when it's already been out on the PS2 for awhile isn't going to do wild wonders for it here (though it'll help), and it being a more niche game doesn't help its case either. I think GH2 would be doing good to match Half-Life, and I can't imagine it fighting tough with MP or GTA:VC, much less GTA3 or GTA:SA. --- PETITION: a "Contest Suggestions" board.
