Sub-Zero could *really* give Ryu a fight then, if not win outright. Outright directly? I would never take that pick. Ryu would SFF'd Sub-Zero (with at least one vote! Mine!) there. And Sub-Zero would have still beaten Master Chief without Armageddon. I never took that into consideration when I chose Sub-Zero. The guy is legitimately stronger than the Chief. I mean, he got 40% on Auron with a picture completely unrecognizable to those who never played beyond MK4 (as in, those who gave Mortal Kombat one try in 3-D and decided against it, like me!) a few weeks after Armageddon. I mean, the game's no Super Mario Sunshine, where you could perhaps see an instantaneous reaction. --- "I'm only here to see how the story plays out. Eh, I don't see why people are assuming that Ryu/Sub-Zero is considered
to automatically be a SFF-fight. Yes, there is a shared "fighting game"
fanbase and all, and Street Fighter is undoubtedly more popular than
Mortal Kombat, but that doesn't mean that Ryu is automatically
preferred as a character among that shared fanbase. Sure Leon, you can
count yourself as one that will side with Ryu, but then I would have to
jump in and say that I would be one to side with Sub-Zero. I really
don't think the shared fanbase between them would skew the results

Tee hee @ today's poll. I know it's not exactly against the toughest
competition here, but still, humorous to think that we're in for
SSB-anything dominating polls like this for another 8 months at the

Sure Leon, you can count yourself as one that will side with Ryu,
but then I would have to jump in and say that I would be one to side
with Sub-Zero. Well yeah, Ryu's not going to win with 100%, of course. Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat are linked together the way that Mario and Sonic as a series are linked together. If SFII ever met an MK game in a contest match, it'd beat it down. I'd half-expect something strange to be weird about a Ryu/Sub-Zero match. I was expecting at least 2/3s of votes, considering its dominating
presence in the Series contest and the fact that Street Fighter +

I mean, it was only 2000 votes. Closer to 2500 votes, but I don't put THAT much stock into the immediate effect of a new release, personally, unless it's absolutely huge and sells loads right away. *checks* yeah it was like 2300, but still, point stands. And I completely agree about games not having amassive effect straightaway, bu that's just it, we're NOT talking about a massive effect here. Like I said, less than 2% being influenced by a recent release...yeah, it seems plausible. I mean, 21-ish% and 16,000 people buy games the day they come out according to that poll, a further 20,000 wait just a few days. Let me ask this: how do you feel about Tails/Viewtiful Joe? I think
Tails won with about 55%, and VJ had his game ported to the PS2 just
days before their match. If Sub-Zero getting his ___th game about three
days before his match with Master Chief gave him ~2%, how badly would
Tails have beaten VJ before he had his original game (featuring Dante
as a bonus, no less) released on the PS2? I mean, VJ is bound to boost
even more than Subby based of that, isn't he? I'm not against taking a minuscule bit of credit away from Subby, but not enough to cost him the match against MC. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have heard about Armageddon if it wasn't for MC/Subby, and I predict that was the same way for many people. I'd guess the number of people that bought Armageddon and came to this
site for that match is under 2500 people, to say nothing of how many

I'm going with Mega Man obsessed. It might have been Crono or Snake, but they got hit with bandanna-split voting. I'm a bit surprised that Breath of Fire and Lunar got in over Wild ARMs and Mana. Ya know, there's probably going to be a PC-RPG poll tomorrow...and I'd
imagine Morrowind or Diablo will take that one confidently (with the
rest being far behind). It's also weird to think that CJay would be
having RPG-polls that didn't include Pokemon, so maybe there's going to
be a handheld-RPG poll too? It just doesn't seem right that Pokemon,
Paper Mario, Fire Emblem, or even Mother didn't get mentioned in
today's poll (though I understand only PM has all of its main games on
console). Hell...maybe it would be a Nintendo-RPG poll. poll? Halo would be the natural favorite yet would quite possibly be

Fire Emblem (boo, hiss) is predominantly known in North America as a
handheld series. I'd expect to see it in tomorrow, where it gets to

Oooh, and hey, interesting question: what would take an FPS-series poll? We'd probably see Quake and Doom neck and neck, with the others (Duke? Unreal? Turok? Thief, depending on interpretation? Deus Ex? Heck, Goldeneye or Perfect Dark if 2 = series?) close behind.
